Ream to MLS. The links the left footed CBs and Marco's comments about signing 2 are put into context with this.

Maybe we get a fee but doubt it's more than 1m if we do.

Not surprised. Bet he thought he'd play more this year and realised Bassey is just too good. Not the kind of guy to sit there and just take a wage. Absolute legend.

He also has to be playing regularly to have any chance at all to make the 2026 World Cup squad on home soil which he has stated repeatedly is his goal.

Craven Mad

Would hate to see Tim leave, but no true fan would stand in his way if he wants a chance to play in his final WC.

Gutted if he leaves, but would walk out a genuine legend in my eyes.

If he goes I will drive him to the plane

And thank him for everything he has done for the club. Another great American captain, conducted himself with a most fantastic dignity.
Remember you are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.
I will be as good as I can be and when I cross the finishing line I will see what it got me

Quote from: LC on June 04, 2024, 03:01:56 PMOkay so would everyone be happy if we were to secure the following names- presuming fees are reasonable:

- Emile Smith Rowe
- Eddie Nketiah
- Gabriel Sara
- Trevoh Chalobah
- Ryan Sessegnon

I think you are looking at about £90m for those players combine. Sessegnon is in a free transfer, if wages were reasonable he would provide a solid option if Robinson were injured and competition for the wide left forward position.

I would be well happy but I would be without Sess (although great if we get him on a contract that suits us) and I don't think he's going for a midfielder if we don't lose anyone there. He also said he might want two centre backs.

This would do me from the big rumours so far:

- Emile Smith Rowe £20 mil
- Eddie Nketiah £30 mil
- Trevoh Chalobah £25 mil
- Morato £20 mil

That is £95 mil but hopefully negotiate a few for a bit less with add ons so maybe £90 mil.

So many options if you got those 4 and all bring average age down significantly. Even if Willian went I think we'd have enough....

Morato played left back loads for Benfica so although we still have Ream for one more year him and Bassey are left back cover for Robinson as well as centre half so that is covered and then already replaced Ream next year.

Smith Rowe can play 10 or left. Also got Iwobi and Stansfield who can play left so covered even if Willian leaves.

I wouldn't be surprised if we got Nketiah that Raul would go to Mexico as Silva has said Stansfield will be with us and he sees him mainly as a striker. As mentioned before Nketiah has 19 goals and 5 assists in 45 prem games of actual playing time. We could go for someone like Pavlidis for £25 million but nothing proven in the prem. looks at Beto for £25 million. Not sure who everyone who thinks he is useless despite that record thinks we are going to get for less. Strikers are ridiculously expensive and I'd take nearly a goal every other game for £30 million.

Chalobah looked brilliant a few years ago and Chelsea fans seem to be gutted he's going so seems like a solid option.

All young and all a load of prem experience apart from Morato but all with a huge point to prove which has of course gone well for us before. All should improve us dramatically if Marco gets them ticking.

Prob get none of them but I'd be well excited for next year if we pulled it off.

Quote from: Bronaldinho on June 04, 2024, 04:24:40 PMI really like the Sess rumour.

Someone that knows the place, the setup and what we offer. Yes, he's gone off the boil - but we know what he's capable of.

We've got a great track record of rejuvenating careers and providing someone with stability.

Sess' movement in the final third is excellent - and he knows he's made a mistake by leaving, he's better in a front 3 and relatively low risk.

Given how many outgoings we have this summer, someone on a free with potential resale value feels like a great option.

Get him in early, and get him a full pre-season feels like a no brainer.

Leaving it late, and missing out on pre-season would be a big mistake as he'll have less impact and miss the start of the season.

Sorry but Sess is not cover for Robinson. Sess has never been able to tackle and defend properly, just great going forward.

Exactly, injuries aside, I think one of the reasons he's not more highly regarded are because spurs have tried to play him as a wingback for goes time there - he was always best for us high up the pitch and, ideally, in the area almost as a left forward.

In the right deal I'd have him back, but he's not a defender and shouldn't be considered as any sort of cover for Jedi

Well, this one is hard.  I think Tim would be great cover to FFC for another season - not starting quality but very strong reserve quality off the bench in an emergency.  I'm sad to see him go since I think he'd have value (and I believe his wages are affordable).

YET

I live in Chalotte NC.  I'm over the moon that Tim might be playing here shortly.  I can wear my Ream FFC jersey to home matches now.  I'm curious why we, possessors of one of the top defenses in the league and one of the worst offenses in the league, would buy an expensive CB, but no complaints if I get to watch Tim play here!

Sess has goals in him and we lack enough finishers. I trust Silva to get the most from him.

If we sign Nketiah would Muniz be benched? Who gets dropped if we sign Smith Rowe, he's a 10 not a winger?

Muniz and Nketiah are two different types of forwards, they could probably play together. I think the position is Muniz's to lose- Marco Silva has been pretty clear he wants competition for places. If we want a top 7 finish then we need two top forwards at the club.

In regard to Emile Smith Rowe, he's played for Arsenal on the left plenty of times, although his best position is as a number 10. Again he'll create competition for places. It's worth pointing out Andreas didn't really have much competition last season and played pretty much every minute of every game. Perhaps that's something Marco Silva wants to address as well.

Either way EN and ESR are good players and would certainly strengthen us. They would be good signings.

Is our ffp situation so healthy we can spend  £60m+ on two players plus whatever we spend on a CB this window? I know since this will be the first time in a long time we'll have three PL seasons worth of allowed losses but still doesn't seem it adds up.

Mitro sale money is relevant in FFP terms this year - it wasn't last year - so assume that makes a fairly big difference on our spending power this summer window.

JackHamlet90

Realistically we are not spending 90m on players
Mitrovic went last year
For slightly more money than we received for him we brought in Jimenez Adama Castagne Bassey & Iwobi.

I would expect similar this year
If for example we spend 60m on Nketiah & Smith Rowe with additions elsewhere going to say 100m we are going to balance books by selling Palhinha or Robinson.
Willian & Tosin off the wage bill will also help.
Fulham will go in with low bids early summer exploring with a loan or 2 as it goes on we always do the same

Mitro sale indeed counts but so too does our purchases of Bassey, Iwobi and Timmy although they're spread out over their contract.

Personally don't think we need a striker, but a CB, RB (if Tete doesn't renew), LB and LW are vital and competition for Andreas would be welcome.

We signed mitro for around £25m and sold him for around £50m - so I would suggest it's more than "slightly higher" (nearly double) than what we paid for him.

I do agree otherwise though; if we're spending "big" on multiple positions to the tune of £100m+ - Robinson or Palahina will probably be sold to cover the excess.

Robinson signed for £3m~ and sold for £30m+ probably helps FFP a lot....

Fair but as you say their salaries and purchase prices are amortised across their contracts so doesn't quite work that way from a FFP balancing point of view.
