Quote from: LC on July 01, 2024, 06:56:54 PMI would like to see Scott McTominay come to Fulham, I think he's in the final 12 months of his contract, so I don't think he'll go for big money. I think he's worth £25-30m though, he's not a defensive midfielder, he scores a few goals when played in a more advanced role. I think he would be a good signing
No thanks

He's been excellent. Portugals most dangerous moments have been when he's made a big challenge and set them away on the break. Won a lot in the air. Made 4 or 5 really good challenges to stop breaks. Great effort last kick of the first half hitting the outside of the post. Hope the comment that it's nearly done at 50 million euros/£42 million are false. If he goes for that it would be a joke.

I see Brentford have replaced the outgoing Toney already. Maybe we should learn from them

There's no point signing ESR and McTominay, unless you also sell Pereira.

I disagree, you can play a Palhinha type player next to McTominay and ESR in the number 10 role or on the left.

I think Andreas and Palhinha will leave this summer

He also said it would be concluded before the Euros. I take what he says with a heap of salt.

He's also said they've made their final offer about 3 times now.

That was done months ago and I can just imagine the tsunami of tears there would be if we had done this and then our new signing did his cruciate before joining us.

They also paid £30m for him when they could've signed him for £8m six months earlier, another point that would've had this forum up in arms ::cool::

Talks are well under way and progressing well for key targets ESR & Teden Mengi

I'm not asking you to name your source but as you have given such specific information it would be helpful to understand the accuracy of your statement or is this an assumption you have made based on media comments ?
All info I've been told.

It is frustrating to see other teams bid for the likes of Nathan Wood & Jaden Philogene (good young English players) when we're linked with the likes of McTominay & Phillips. Another window where our lack of a DoF (& consequent lack of long term planning) is showing.

That said, at least Silva will keep us competitive this year.

On here; I keep reading about the need to sign players with PL experience

Do you think that Southampton's PSR issues might have something to do with them signing Nathan Wood from Swansea rather that a player with PL experience?

It could be better, but it's not a fantasy:

Jack Clarke is emerging as a potential option on LW for Fulham. Marco Silva wants two versatile wingers & Clarke fits the profile after another impressive season at Sunderland.

Why on earth is cherry picking 2 names we're randomly linked with in the press a sign of a lack of a DOF?! As ever I swear some are sat, itching to have a dig ... We're also linked heavily with Emile Smith Rowe and even to Summerville so why didn't you mention them? We signed Tosin and Robinson for bargain fees, we've also had back-to-back great summer windows so what are we even saying here?

Let's see where we are at the end of the summer.

Those two specific names are England under-21 players available for under £20m and we are never linked to that kind of player. Smith Rowe and Summerville are players with PL experience and are linked for over £30m each - good signings (dependent on price), but they are not comparable.

We have had great windows the last couple of years regarding the here and now; TK/Silva/Scouting have done a great job in improving the current team and I have defended those windows repeatedly. However while Silva is focused on the here and now (which is what he should be doing) the point of a DoF is to also safeguard us into the future and I don't think we are doing that - it's about targeting a mix of young talent with a sell on value as well as the more experienced players. This is what clubs like Palace have done really well with the links of Eze, Olise & Wharton. I'm not saying to sack all our player recruitment, just that I find their approach frustrating.

You're right though, let's see at the end of the summer. I think we'll have a really good list of signings, I just don't think we'll sign more than 1 player under the age of 24.

Very well said. Fulham are a club that have a lot of names in every position and then they narrow it down to the ones that they can realistically get.
Marco Silva wouldn't have signed his new deal unless he was getting the backing he wants, yes we are about to lose João but that frees more money up to get 2 or 3 better quality players in.

July & August are going to be very busy for Fulham and the squad will look a lot fresher come the start of the season.
