Same reporter saying we're in for Andre says it's been denied in Turkey that we're in for Semih Kilicsoy. Who knows though

Quote from: wback on July 12, 2024, 01:32:04 PMRead an interesting article about French clubs struggling because their TV deal has collapsed. This is going to cause the clubs without big owners real problems. Expect some deals will get done as a result, and they certainly won't be competing for as many players.

Who are the best players at mid-tier French clubs who could end up in England?

Tobido CB (we were in for him once)
Elye Wahi CF
Jonathan David CF
Rayan Cherki? CAM (we were linked last summer)
Angel Gomes CAM (ex Man Utd)
Leny Yoro CB
Désiré Doué LW

Flo Balogun was highly touted, got hurt and then came on strongly at the end of the season (again) for Monico.  Might be available for a reasonable price now.  Some here thought he should have been Mitro's replacement last season.   Possible.  He's probably less expensive now.

Sammie Szmodics in talks with Ipswich Town over a £6 million pound transfer,
28 years old but seems a decent deal for a squad player.

I've just been watching some video clips of André. In terms of style he isn't a Palhinha type player at all. If I had to choose a style comparison everyone will know I'd say he's more like Busquets.

With the right midfield partner he could be class

Just watched a few and that's a great comp 🤞 His composure on the ball is what sticks out the most. Granted, they are highlights, and mainly show him in possession.

Probably nothing more than padding, but I don't remember seeing people here mention Matt Oriley who we are said to be interested in signing. We are in the various sides section though, so I doubt there is much to it.

Seems to have done well for himself at Celtic and wouldn't be a bad signing by any stretch.

Not sure O'Riley is quick enough in his position to be influential in the premiership. Tidy footballer though.

Long post but I am bored waiting for a transfer confirmation! By accounts online sounds like we are close here and one said we want it done by the end of the weekend. Said that for two months last year for CHO so we'll see but hoping it's true. For anyone interested this is quite good:

https://totalfootballanalysis.com/player-analysis/andre-trindade-at-fluminense-2022-scout-report-tactical-analysis-tactics

Been reading a lot on top of watching clips and most seem to think he was a better prospect than the likes of Joao Gomes. Different players but he has been brilliant and after Wolves signed him for £15 million already talk of £60. The reporters over there all think he is amazing and none were surprised that Liverpool, Arsenal, Barcelona, etc were interested. The shock seems to be that so few are now (to our advantage of course). Their fans all absolutely love him and all think he'll be a top champions league player.

He defends in a completely different way to Joao as he's more about pressures than big tackles I believe although decent in the tackle as well as his tackle success rate is high. A huge point I didn't think of is that they have 60% possession per game and are therefore doing less defending so naturally defensive metrics are slightly lower. Interesting that he is very good in a high press winning the ball high for dangerous turnovers. Joao was brilliant at stepping in at the right time to win high. Sounds like if AP and Muniz do a good first press he will be great at following this up. Generally he has great acceleration which is a strength defensively and when progressing the ball.

His passing stats are ridiculous and carry stats are also superb. Having watched a few of the games there is a lot of short sideways passes that could dare I say it seem a bit Pakerball but I think that is how their manager asks them to play. Think Marco would make him a bit more dynamic here and think he's got the skills to do it.

He did have an absolute mare in my view in the world club final vs city. Could be blamed for 3 goals if I remember correctly and did very little in the game. They had played a million games that season however and he genuinely looked knackered. Also knew that all the big teams were watching him and maybe the pressure of that got to him. Also the way they play was strange lack of structure may work in their league but city just took them apart and he may have suffered as a result of the wider tactics. It seems that after this game all the big clubs disappeared a bit so perhaps if he had a stormer we wouldn't have a chance.

All in all then I'm ridiculously excited about this. The way the experts in Brazil talk about him and the love of his fans says a lot. The fact massive teams are interested as well does too. Sounds like they want £25 million and we want to pay £20 million. Considering the potential £25 million seems fair so although with our finances we always have to push for the best deal I hope we don't let this go on too long and the two clubs can meet somewhere in the middle. Is there a risk his play style is a bit slow and his defensive stats aren't off the charts? Sure but I think the pace of the prem and Marco could change a lot of that although may take some time. By all accounts Marco is a massive fan and as we all know in him we trust. Praying we get it done this weekend!

Bassey the warrior

Playing devil's advocate here, but it's important for us to temper our expectations of Andre's immediate impact if he does join. It will take him time to adapt to the pace and physicality.

I imagine he gets plenty of time on the ball currently. It may be like when Bryan Ruiz joined; he really struggled with the tempo change and frequently got caught in possession.

Not saying this will happen but worth bearing in mind.

Yeah defo. It's a completely different pace and we play a completely different way. Patience will be key as he could struggle a bit at first. I imagine Marco will do the usual and ease him in gradually. All assuming we actually get him of course!

Seems to be in a similar place to when we signed palhinha

On the radar of bigger clubs, but none willing to take a bigger punt on him for now, let's hope we can get it over the line and it works out as well for us in terms of performances!

Quote from: Angus Telford on July 13, 2024, 02:24:41 PMIm excited by Andre but it's sounding like one of those where we need a little pragmatism and savvy to get it over the line ASAP. His club are clearly willing to sell and the player is clearly open to the move - that's clear from the frequency and reliability of the media reports. I hope we're not haggling over £2m somewhere. If this drags on, we *will* get gazumped by a bigger club with a better proposal. The cards have fallen in our favour, we've found ourselves the frontrunner for a really good player, so let's just pay up and exploit this opportunity.
agree, but AM n TK always try to save paying asking price.

His club have already said that they want to keep him for two games in August, I hope we politely decline their request as we need him with us for the pre season.

One good advantage we have is that Lukic did quite well in the position when Palhinha was out last season and Lukic does play DM similarly to Andre so easing him in shouldn't be too much of an issue.

United wants Robinson, if you believe TeamTalk that is...

QuoteHowever, a new name has been thrust into the spotlight with Ten Hag reportedly expressing his desire to club chiefs to target a move for Fulham's USA star Antonee Robinson.

I wouldnt read too much into it. There are several other positions United need to fill before going for a left back, and United cant spend too much either this window- especially since Jedi likely will demand a hefty price tag

He's probably worth £40m, he shouldn't be allowed to go for a penny less. But to be fair in this market he could go for a lot more.

I would encourage the club to have a policy in place which prevents no more than 1 core player leaving in a calendar year. He must stay.

Best left back in the league, long contract, not even in his prime yet. 80m at a minimum.
