Quote from: C Block on July 29, 2024, 09:45:47 AMJust for some clarity, I read an article 3 or 4 weeks ago where it was stated that Fluminese wanted to keep Andre for two games in August,  one of which I'm sure was August 13th, when I read the article I thought,  "that's no good for us"
With each passing day/week I'm convinced that nothing will happen with regards to Andre until after August 13th,
Watch this space.

You may be right. It not entirely fanciful Fluminense's counter-proposal (which the Club President mentioned) was that we could sign Andre there and then for an extra however-many-million pounds, or they would hold on to him until mid-August and then do business with us at £25M.
he is that important to them and that's what li looks like then I think that will happen, unless just à red herring.

Yup that article suggested they were trying any way to keep him playing there as long as possible knowing that he would most likely move on though. none of us actually know what the counter offer was at this stage etc

Wouldnt suprise me if theyre hardballing until later, his performances are contributing to them starting to get out the relegation zone currently so doubt highly theyre in any rush now hes back from injury.

As ever, who knows, we'll see.

Absolute nonsense. Reports say Fenerbache won't entertain offers below £20m. Last thing we need to do is waste that much of our limited budget on another RB. If either Timmy or Tete were looking for a way out surely we'd have seen agent leaked stories by now (as is the way these days). In fact I think this story whiffs of agent fabricated fantasy.

Quote from: The Old Count on July 29, 2024, 10:09:44 AMIt's the same every year. Frustration piled on frustration as we try to squeeze the last drop out of the deal. I know we need to get the best deals possible but sometimes you're better off just coughing up.

I know it's frustrating but the counter to this would be the amazing deals we got over the last few years for Leno (£3mill rising to £8mill), Robinson, Tosin (both £1.5mill) etc.

Sometimes we haggle hard over players and (much less often) we pay the asking price pretty quick, as with the £17.6mill price we paid for Palhinha a few years back.

I think the reality is doing the former helps us do the latter and working hard on driving down the Andre deal in reality probably helps us pay the slightly inflated ESR deal etc. or meet our other targets
Robinson was bought from Wigan, who at the time didnt have much of an economy and played in League one (?). Dont think we squeeze much of the prize on him anyway.

Tosin was bought more or less straight from Citys Academy so he was never going to cost much.

So those two examples arent probably a good example of our hard bargain strategy

Leno was dragged on if I remember correctly. Dont know how much in the end we actually saved, maybe a mil or two? Either way, dont think anyone would have blaimed the club if Leno in the end would have cost us a couple of mil more considering how important hes been.

Closer.....

Closer than you ever could imagine, clooose

Seriously though this is GREAT news it seems.
And an advancement on what we've heard so far. Fee Agreed AND player terms agreed - seemingly just the medical now

Did we just take a week to haggle £1m? Last week it was quoted the deal was £28m + £7m :slap:

What's all this 'in principle' nonsense.. surely it's either agreed or it's not. Why can't journalists say things like, Fulham HAVE agreed a deal with Arsenal and ESR HAS agreed terms with Fulham, the deal will go through pending fitness tests being passed. ESR will fly to London to take these this week to finalise the deal.

None of this vagueness.

Regardless, £27m could be a steal if he signs a long term contract and reaches his potential. Let's get it over the line fast and then bring in Andre, Willian another CM and a RCB.

Of course it must be Fulham's fault for any delay.

If the delay benefitted us, then that would make sense?

£1m is a decent amount to knock off in fairnesss, could've potentially just recouped a year of Sessegnon's wages for instance.. or a chunk of it.

Quote from: Angus Telford on July 29, 2024, 12:25:42 AMESR has not proved he can play a full PL season.  And has started 3 PL games in the last two years (even less than Sessegnon).  I can see the potential but it's absurd not to say there's a question mark over his fitness.

Have to agree here.  Believe me, I don't want to be a Debbie Downer, but there are some questions regards these two possible acquisitions.

Ryan Sess - Has played very little Prem level football, and in those few appearances he did make, not very noteworthy.  Has not proven, in my view, Prem level quality, either at FFC or elsewhere.  Add on top of that an injury history.

ESR - Very little playing time over last two seasons.  And a wide array of injury history, including recurring groin issues, which did require a major surgery just a year ago.  FFC paying a lot of money for this possible acquisition, just hope that the brainiacs have done their homework and due diligence.

Robinson - I do have some concerns with him too.  Just recently had a full schedule of Copa play, and then had a surgery, for which seems somewhat fuzzy, maybe groin/appendix/hernia?  Just hope the lad ready to start fully healed/recovered.

Sometimes clubs renegotiate based on the medical or the transfer gets called off (like Robinson's AC Milan adventure). It is in principle until the contract is signed.

Banking on him signing as he's in my fantasy football team already.🤞

It may also been up for discussion how that £27m fee was paid. We might've said we'll pay it in installments rather than one sum so quite an important detail to work out
