I know it's NFR, but how are Chelsea continuing to sign loads of players for 10-40 million? They must have a squad of about 50 players at the moment. Given their spending the last 2 years, plus lack champions league, surely just selling Gallagher for 34m isn't going to balance the books?!

They've already sold Maatsen and Hutchinson for roughly £60 million combined and got the Lewis Hall fee (£30 million) this window. Still feels like they are a bit short, but I guess they technically follow the rules with amortisation included. Problem is next season and the season after that. Their current model seems to be to overpay for decent talents and hoping that inflation means they can sell at a profit.

They also sold those hotels to themselves for 75m and then the women's team to themselves for 175m and all of that counts for FFP. PL trying to close that loophole but haven't yet.

Not to mention they're still under investigation for some previous abusing and miscalculating of balance sheet accounts. So a mixture of creative accounting and general cheating of the rules.....

Despite the questionable accounts, they do always sell well. €101m raised this summer already. Probably can raise another 100m this window too.

Chalobah, Kepa, Sanchez / Petrovic, Gallagher, Madueke, Lukaku, Fofana...

💎 90+GOAL SPECIAL | Fulham from the EPL stepped in for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who was not included in this year's squad planning for Beşiktaş.

💥 He wants to part ways with Alex, who receives an annual guaranteed salary € 2.5 million from Beşiktaş and whose contract will end in 2026, under the most suitable conditions.

Tim Reams departure has now been made official. A great player and gentleman. Good luck to him.
The above IS NOT A LEGAL DOCUMENT. It is an opinion.

We may yet hear the horse talk.

I can stand my own despair but not others hope

Quote from: btffc on August 06, 2024, 11:13:08 PMChiesa would be insane but I would be stunned if he wants to come to Fulham. If anyone can convince him it would be Marco but then we would also have to pay a likely huge wage request which I doubt.

Interestingly, chiesa is down on Google etc as a forward, but his goalscoring stats are very average to poor. He's obviously had a high profile reputation, and considered good by many, but why? Is he better than the stats suggested or has he stagnated and failed to develop and impress which is why he's being pied off?

Federico Chiesa is a mainly left winger. As such he scored 9 goals in Serie A last season.

Chiesa and Smith Rowe would be a world class duo in our attack.

Just seen on the clubs website too that ESR is in the Midfield section of our squad and not as a forward, which if he were to play a winger i'd have expected. So as @btffc did point out to one of my posts and apparently Marco has mentioned, we're looking at ESR for the 10 role instead.

If that's the case, then we do potentially need an extra winger - as we've only got Wilson, Adama and Iwobi.

It'd be interesting to see Pereira as a deeper lying midfield (CAM/CM) - I'm not 100% sure it's the right position for him.. but happy to be proven wrong. Could perhaps have a pivot of Andre and Pereira - I imagine the Brazilian connection could help Andre settle if we were to get him in as they've played with each other for the national team.

Chiesa does seem like a great option, but I fear he's another waste of our time and someone we're being too ambitious with. But that's just me. Would be quite a statement summer if we managed to get McTominay, Chiesa, ESR, Andre, Sess, Cuenca and a RCB in though... only have three of those through the door, so not getting ahead of myself with that being the reality though.

He did drop AP back in the friendly of course the other night. Now I assumed that is because until we sign someone in there we are short so needs that as an option short term. Could he be looking longer term with ESR 10? With ESR 10 and Iwobi or another attacking winger left we do look way more threatening. We were also looking at Wesley supposedly for the left on top of these Chiesa.

In many ways I really like this. AP played 8 in Brazil I believe and many times for United. When AP dropped the other night he looked superior to Reed/Lukic passing forwards which you'd expect. Thought this looks great. Then he missed a couple of tackles and they were in on goal. I suppose the question then is would he be good enough defensively in the prem without JP beside him? Certainly works hard enough but looking at those flakey tackles a concern. Perhaps an option however to improve our passing from deep and take him out of the 10 where he is nowhere near enough of a threat? Iwobi/top new winger left, ESR 10 and Adama right is pretty electric and I love the idea of it.
yes AP mentioned in an interview that he was used to playing in a deeper role before he came to Fulham.

They also have regular revenue of £500m per year. In the ordinary course of things they could surely absorb a net spend of £100-200m per year which I think they only really exceeded in one recent season.

The investigation against them relates to a period 5-10 years ago so nothing to do with their current strategy.

I mean to answer two things here, they've abused the system so long, the only reason they have this stock filled squad of around 60 players+ is because they abused that postionfkr over a decade. They already received discipline in both fines and embargo's so that's nothing new. Current infringements, particularly the wonky balance sheet relates to the last year before the Boely takeover ie Romans last year, so yea, it's an old owner, but only admitting to it so they can try and get a light sentence ie 'we didn't know before we purchased'....which, personally, I don't buy. The due duligence in a deal that big, the balance sheet would have been gone through like a fine tooth comb. But anyway, is it clever abusing the rules? Probably. But they've also got some mentioned acquisitions to pass via the epl so it's not like theymre completely out of the water yet.

Time will tell. But I won't be congratulating Chelsea's strategy anytime soon.

Judging by the paucity of posts on here in the last day or two, it's either the calm before the storm (of incoming signings), or we've basically packed up for now and will get back to it on deadline day.

There's only so many times people can read (delete as appropriate):

'[Andre/McTominay] is [nearly/never] going to be a Fulham player'.

Hopefully we get some good news soon...

I'd be happy to hear we've moved on from those rumours and signed one or two left field players who had never previously appeared on here.

On here our owners are teased for buying injured players

It seems that Spuds have now snatched our crown

Spurs open to offers for Solomon
Latest from Sky Sports News reporter Michael Bridge:
Tottenham are open to offers for winger Manor Solomon.
The 24-year-old has not played since September 2023 due to injury.

He was someone for Sess to talk to, about their FFC days, in Spuds treatment room ?
It could be better, but it's not a fantasy:

Three big buys in good time for the start of the season, Cuenca, Sess. and Smith-Row, that is huge for us.

All that we can possibly expect now is a bargain basement buy on window closing day.
