I would make Andersen team captain if we signed him. A more natural captain than Leno and no other stand out contenders.

Quote from: FFC1987 on August 11, 2024, 11:34:17 AMI like Andersen, but I'd a bit dubious even at £20m+. He started to look really leggy and slow at the backend of last season. He also had a really doozy of a mistake in one of Palaces pre season games where his legs just gave out under him and they tapped into an open net. Not that we read much into those games obviously, but I'm not sure he's the same player that left us.

As always, if that's the player that Silva wants then I'll be politely shut up  :slap:  ::scarf::

Interesting, I'd snap your hand off at 20m to be honest. He's one of the best ball playing CB's I've seen at Fulham and I think he's got a fair few great years left in him at 28 years old. And as ya acknowledge all CB's have bad games or moments here and there...Palace mates love him.

All a game of opinions though ay.

I'm not saying I don't rate him! His ball pinging is dreamy. His ability to flow passed right to left is up there with the best. I do rate him. My concern, as pointed out, is his pace. When overplayed, or relied on for a long stretch, I think he struggles and looks particularly slow. But I don't think £20m is the number Palace would entertain anyway so we'd be looking at more £30m which to me, is a bit too much.

So yeh, just worry about his legs and looking off the pace is all.  ::scarf::

Which to me suggests that it's not been agreed. The structure is a big part of the deal being agreed. Let's hope we get this one over the line early next week though. Need him in ASAP.

Don't think Fulham Transfer has the foggiest. All information is interpretation as we all do based on reporting

Whilst I too would like to get a RCB deal done...

Isn't this just a Fulham fan kid who is just reposting whats reported all over twitter? Doesn't seem to have any insider sources ever, so is just a fulham fan going off of what's been written online what what I've seen (I follow him too as he's quick on the draw to RT Fulham news)

Quote from: ffcthereligion on August 11, 2024, 09:10:17 AMHowever you dress it up, this is the objective reality.

Add mitro into this and it's 4 starters gone in the last 12 months (palhinha, mitro and Willian also probably our best players), 1 replacement.

Circa 100m in, 30m out. And probably some of the biggest earners off the wage bill.

While I agree we need a new CB and a CM or 2, some of the above is selective memory:

"Circa £100m in,  £30m out" Guessing you mean Mitro and Palhinha fees for the in? We spent £26m on Iwobi (regular starter BTW) and £15m on Castagne (regular starter again) after Mitro went so the Mitro money is NOT sat in the bank, it's spent.

While I also agree Id like us to do the majority of our work in the transfer market early, it's an inescapable fact that prices come down for your targets the closer we get to transfer day: for example Chalobah being quoted as much as £50m in several outlets earlier on now has reportedly had his asking price dropped to £30-35m; Fluminense wanting north of €30m which will most likely come down given their reported financial issues / lack of reported interest. It's not ideal but we only have a very specific budget due to FFP and we have to try and make every million count to ensure we spread it to get the best combination of players possible. It's just the way the market works in football these days and while it's annoying we have to get our heads around the reality of things.

It can be a frustrating period but I'm confident we'll pick up the CB and CM/s needed. If we do as expected I'm confident our squad will be in a strong place.

Yeh that's fair enough I guess he's certainly not the quickest, although some of that is mitigated of course by being paired with the likes of Bassey/Castagne and Robinson in terms of recovery pace around him. His strengths certainly lie more in his positional awareness and ability on the ball similar to Ream.

Someone on here, maybe the unknown entity that is DM (not 100% sure it was them), seemed to claim FulhamTransfer was an ITK and only posted stuff he had got verified through sources. FulhamTransfer also went on a mission once around Andre where they apparently tried to reach out to loads of journo's about what's happening with Andre, but haven't heard anything about how well that went.

Does seem like they don't have the foggiest - for me saying things are agreed, when they can't be - and the poster themselves contradicting themselves is obviously a bit of a red flag.

Pretty much - His words about just sorting out the structure are taken directly from the Fabrizio Romano report. And as pointed out he went around tweeting @ Brazil journalists to try and find something about the Andre transfer, he knows no more than us. And additionally, I'm not one to go too hard over people saying they are supposed ITK here. It is what it is, but with no insult intended - "DM" equally hasn't said anything I've seen here this summer that hasn't been clear public knowledge already, speculation based on whats on twitter already, or easily surmisable from what we could all assume based on facts we all know. So there's that.

Appreciate what Fulham Fan news  does very much, in summarising all the rumours etc, but if he truly had inside sources at the club he wouldn't have to go hunting on twitter for information you'd think.

itombomb

I don't think @fulhamtransfer is an ITK, he mainly just retweets stuff and provides opinion.

Quote from: Deeping_white on August 11, 2024, 11:18:12 AMThe timing of that is interesting for Andersen because the Fulham transfer account has tweeted some emojis suggesting that Diego Carlos is done. So either we want two RCB's or they're not as ITk as they think they are
Every year it is the same, we are linked with multiple players in specific positions and ITKs get it wrong - when it became clear we were finalising the Bassey deal last year I think Romano was tweeting about us agreeing a similar fee for another LCB (which was obviously nonsense).

I'd love Anderson back at the club. If you could do a deal in that 28-32m range I think its a no-brainer. A top quality PL CB who'd be a huge upgrade and would be a guaranteed starter for us for the next 4 years.

I can't see why Palace would sell him and Guehi unless they have real money problems tho.

Real money problems, or they think as a club they can buy someone at a PL level for less and bulk up their squad.

You're right though, losing olise, Guehi and Andersen would be a bit of a concern if I was a palace fan in one summer.

Arthur

Maybe the Club is thinking that Palace might prefer to sell Andersen if the fee is enough to give them the financial stability to turn down much larger bids for Guehi.

alfie

This is why I don't take any notice of all these reports, we will know when we know.
Story of my life
"I was looking back to see if she was looking back to see if i was looking back at her"
Sadly she wasn't

Lighthouse

Club A wants a player in a particular position. They don't just go out and look at just one normally and bid on him. They will look at a number of options. Then the process begins. So it makes s sense for a number of players in a position we need to be linked. Although personally I doubt 9 out of 10 rumours. As for the amounts quoted. I can guarantee they are not accurate.
The above IS NOT A LEGAL DOCUMENT. It is an opinion.

We may yet hear the horse talk.

I can stand my own despair but not others hope

The more i think about it, the more i think a deal might be doable, even if the also sell Guehi - so long as they buy another CB (and they already bought one this window).

He's 28. They bought him for 20m and he has two years left on his deal. If they could get 30 for him, its a lot of profit for a wasting asset.

I still think it is unlikely as selling both him and Guehi would be a huge risk for them, but it actually makes sense for everyone.

I think 25-30m for 80k a week Anderson would be a better deal than 15m for 100k a week Carlos.

LC

I would like to see Andersen happen

Don't know how much we can read into it in terms of Teams and lineups, but Liverpool beat Sevilla 4-1 today, where we obviously lost 2-1 to them.

We did play a weak team first half and won the second half 1-0, but may be a gauge of where we stand in comparison to Liverpool..

With Neto now joining Chelsea, I think it's a great time to try pick off a couple of there more talented squad members who just are not getting any mins. I think Madaueke would be perfect for us but might mean looking at moving on Wilson who despite being a great lad has never been able to put any consistent form in at Premier League level ..
