sounds like someone being professional but ultimately open to the move to be honest. Come on home Joachim!

Caedal

Personally I love Anderson, but I wouldn't go any higher than 30m purely down to his age.

I also wouldn't bid anything higher than 12m for Carlos.

I understand them wanting an experienced player next to Bassey though. It's a shame Chalobah apparently didn't fancy the move or he'd be a perfect option.

LC

I would be surprised if Palace turn down a deal worth £30m for Andersen. I don't think they'll get an offer like that for him again.

This deal would also be a pretty big change in our transfer dealings. I don't think we have ever spent that kind of money for a player of his age.

Dharmesh suggesting were seeing how this bid is received and if rejected we likely go back to Carlos with a new bid.

Playing them off eachother here for leverage I suspect, as one would expect. Either way Id be happy. 🤞🏼

Well if not it seems like the other current option is diego who does appear available at the right price. And if not there may be others we dont know about, so fingers crossed whoever we end up with

True, but I'd hope we'd make an offer at least. I think he'd be perfect for us.
Quote from: Caedal on August 13, 2024, 03:49:21 PMWe've gone back in with a 25m +5m offer for Anderson. I wouldn't be surprised if that was accepted
Am I the only one who thinks Andersen is massively overrated? And that fee is too high. If it's between him and Carlos, I'd prefer Carlos.

I thought he was great for us in 19/20 but I've not been as impressed when I've seen him at Palace. I would not want us to increase the current bid any further. I'm also concerned that if we spend this money on Andersen that we won't get a quality CDM, which is vital.
I'm in the same camp. Looking at him last season, when the ball's in front of him he looks as good as ever and probably more rugged and physical than he was with us, but play the ball in behind him and force him to turn and he looks in real trouble these days.

Defo doing the usual thing of going for a few and seeing which deal we think is best. It's an interesting one. The Villa fan reactions to Carlos really are a bit concerning but we've had this before and Marco has transformed players of course. His poor ability in the air having lost Joao and Tosin is a massive concern for me. I think Andersen is more guaranteed quality.

The cost is interesting as I can't see any way Fulham are offering Carlos more than a 3 year deal with an option for an extra year at his age and salary with a big injury a year ago. Andersen would be given 5 and an option I would have thought. Let's say they stayed on the same salary for Andersen £80k and Carlos £100k and Andersen was £35m and Carlos £15m.

Carlos:

Amortised fee £5m
Salary £5.2m
Total £10m

Andersen:

Amortised fee £7m
Salary £4.16m
Total 11.16m

From a PSR perspective not much more for someone 3 years younger, not had a big injury and for me more guaranteed quality and who has the perfect passing and aerial attributes we need. If £15m for Carlos vs £35m for Andersen if those salaries I'd be all in on Andersen.

He always did look in real trouble with his lack of pace. We don't play with a high line though. We do try and spring press high sometimes but after that we drop into shape. That's perfect for him. Key is Bassey for me who in transition provides that pace to get back and if anyone gets him one on one he is impossible to pass. Andersen s pace is defo a weakness but I think the way we play and the players around him would really suit him.

I think I marginally lean towards Anderson given age and as I think we lack some on field leadership and ball playing from deep (also some familiarity bias) . But Carlos certainly feels the more available of the two so well see.

As ever ill wait and look forward to seeing see how it plays outs

I was completely shocked we managed to get ESR, so it's not impossible - and we seem to be making more of an effort on this one then with our midfield targets. Really hope it happens, loved him during his time here and would be great to have him with the fans. Got the feeling he loved the club too.

Villa fans not hugely keen on Carlos but seems to have pedigree. Wasn't cheap when they brought him in.

Yeah defo agree with that. Villa are desperate to sell him to fund a purchase and as above the don't overly rate him. Palace on the other hand are the opposite. Villa want £15 to £20 million which is ridiculous. Their own fans are saying £10m is fair. Wouldn't be surprised at all if the whole Andersen thing is largely to drive the Carlos price down. Wouldn't be surprised if Villa do drop the price whereas very much doubt Palace will much. See what happens but here's praying. Hoping we get this sorted and then move onto DM quickly.

Dm seems to me that were holding out on one of our main targets (Andre) for the end of the window along with Scott when we anticipate one or both will be cheaper given each clubs circumstances. We offered fluminese a club record offer and are being strong on it now it appears. No other club has stepped in at the same price so here we are.

Exploring loan deals for the likes of phillips, if true, suggest again were exploring all options before pulling the trigger likely at the end of the month, so am just accepting that seems to be the course of action unless fluminese suddenly call saying fine we capitulate before then. With andre deleting his insta who knows if hes feeling unsettled there at this point, we shall see I guess.

Fun few weeks ahead seeing how our gambles, negotiations and plans play out.

Quote from: General on August 13, 2024, 04:25:38 PMCan't help but admire Palace's stance on Guehi and wondering if Fulham's was a bit weak re Mitro and Palhinha in comparison.. We never had a statement from our ownership saying Palhinha's the best DM in europe, or one of the best, and young and has a lot of his career ahead of him and people need to pay what that's worth.. Still feel £50m was cheap for him.

Palhinha isn't young though, he's 29 and in his prime. Guehi is 24 and there's the English player premium that bumps it up.

Second that
Disagreements one things personal attacks and the like all rather unnecesary.

Hopefully we can keep it that way going forwards. Agreed that the callback posting stuff was rather overboard too so glad if true that were moving on from that
