Quote from: sarnian on August 17, 2024, 09:09:49 PMStrange that a posting on the TIFF site from a supposed ITK that we have just put new bids in for Andre and Souza has been removed.
The fella who posts genuine info is MN and normally spot on.
The fella who posted this evening is a wind up merchant who use NM as part of his act?

Thanks Jimmy. Thought it was strange, I was told last summer that Andre has never been on the clubs radar. Time will tell.

Much rather an unknown come in like Palhinia 3 years ago
Palhinha was not an unknown though! Was rated highly in Portugal as is Andre in Brazil.
Palhinha was at a similar level of fame to Andre. Just that we know of Andre as he has been linked the last three windows.

Palhinha had been touted to join United for a year before he joined us.
Until he proves himself in the PL he's not the same as palhinia he was on it from the word go the first game his first game,Would Andre be same none of us know,we don't know if Marco wants him as no Direct quote anywhere from Marco .
Was Palhinha 'premier league proven' before we even signed him?

You need to make your mind up on if he was an established star or a hidden gem I think.

Quote from: Deuce on August 17, 2024, 05:06:37 PMQuestion for those who think we should sign a striker:
why would we spend money on a new striker when we already have Raul and Muniz? Yes, I know. Raul is underwhelming, especially considering his 100 k wage. But he would have to be sold before we should add anyone else, and that is simply not happening.

Immediate positions to be addressed are: DM and CB.
Bonus if we get an attacking player.
Going by what Marco said yesterday on sky its a DM, CB and someone across the front line. Whilst we have Raul and Munoz neither f them set the world alight last season or looked particularly good last night (dare I say in pre season either) so someone across the frontline who cant play all positions wouldnt be a bad pick up
muniz was fantastic last Season

Fantastic?? No he had a wonderful albeit limited spell during the winter but then faded a bit towards the end of the season. Still a lot to prove but looks promising

Out of the three rcbs that we've been linked with in the last few days, when looking at both ability and quoted prices, my first choice would be Gomez, then Carlos and then Andersen.

I suspect thar we will end up signing player that we have not considered, who are well above our expectations - which is probably why MS is so relaxed about the transfer situation.

He trusts TK to pull some rabbits out of the hat for him and know that he's not stingy but looking for best value
It could be better, but it's not a fantasy:

Joe Gomez would be a top signing if fit. He's won the PL with Liverpool and played in several cup finals which they won. If he's fit it would be a ESR type signing

If it's between us or Villa I would imagine we are a big underdog considering how much an upwards curve Villa are at. Might have a squeak if he would prefer getting back to London?

What constitutes setting the world alight. In half a season Muniz was brilliant. The question is if he can keep it up, which given his history is a big question.

He looked fine yesterday, had no service but bothered Onana with a hugely inventive bicycle kick
He was brilliant for a period last season, but after the golden run he was like he was at the start of the season. The ball bounced off him numerous times yesterday it was disappointing. Yes the bicycle kick was inventive, but overall he wasnt that good for me yesterday

I truly hope he can play as he did when he was scoring last season for a longer sustained period season on season, but I have My doubts. Sorry if that offends anyone

It was 8 games so a fifth of a season
If he can have that for say 3 fifths of the season that would be something that we need

That is exactly my point, he is promising but had one 8 game spell, we need that for 24+ games

I'm getting bored of days going by and nothing happening aside from speculation by fans, like myself, who don't know any better either..

SuffolkWhite

I'm happy to make a rumour up, or find the Ipswich fan I got drunk with during the Euros in one of the local pubs in Ipswich. He supposedly knows someone  who knows Talbot our head scout lol.

Mind you that would mean me going for several pints, which would also mean I forget what  I've been told!

That being said, although it's something and nothing at the same time, if there was a semi reliable transfer journo then this would be it.. Lots of ifs and buts though on everything being in a domino effect.. Can't rely on this transfer for our business.

So with this strategy it looks like we may get either Diego Carlos or Joachim Andersen in on deadline day at this rate, depending on what happens with either or. Why are we always being so risky with our transfer policies - such a stupid approach. Andersen or Carlos would improve our squad and most likely first team too - we need our squad strengthened now, for the start of the season, for the early games.

Fingers crossed the club gets it's act together with this stuff. Can't keep leaving everything so late and being so slow, one day we're going to pay for it.

Not transer related but as there are no rumours as such.

The teams that have come up look OK.
Ipswich and Southampton look capable! We really need points at home v Leicester.

Presumably because our next 3 games are against Leicester, Ipswich and Birmingham and feel we have enough to beat those (nothings guaranteed in football - but we do on paper) and specifically at CB we have Diop who was great against Utd, and therefore feel we can bide our time to see if our main targets (or perhaps even new better ones who weren't available prior who knows) become available.

We've offered for Anderson an offer that hasn't been rejected - they're therefore having to find a replacement option him before agreeing to a sale, given the stage of the window we're at and he's a main starter for them.

Once they have an agreement in principle then Anderson is presumably free to move. If Marco and the board prefer Anderson to Carlos, we'll wait... if not they'll presumably increase bid for Carlos or another defender as Marco mentioned they might not be from England or have prem experience, so there are clearly other possibilities we don't know about on the table.

As ever, we don't know for certain whats on the table and how far in the bag any talks are in reality, so best thing to do at this point is just accept that this is the way it is till then and assume the team will be as is against the next 2 teams we play. If anything happens before the last couple days then, great. Fabrizio's tweet seems to be saying palace are trying to get this Lacroix deal done asap, so if that happens relatively quickly then seemingly so may our business but they wouldn't be exploring this if they weren't open to a sale of one of their CB's and ours is the only offer not currently rejected.

Incidentally Lacroix always plays on the right side of Wolfsburgs defence - even at RB at times...Anderson is Palaces RCB. So we shall see but he seems a more tailor made RCB replacement than LCB

Just go for Lacroix, saves a lot of hassle.
