Quote from: Caedal on August 19, 2024, 07:52:54 PMI thought Berge was a CDM. I obviously haven't watch him enough.

He's a step down from McTominay in my opinion

Agree, just don't see him as an improvement to what have or need.

If Marco, see's a player he thinks he can work with then buy him.
Guy goes into the doctor's.
"Doc, I've got a cricket ball stuck up my backside
"How's that?"
"Don't you start"

Berge is more of a proper DM so... In addition to Scott? Given MUFC valuation perhaps instead of? Different players though.

This would I assume take Andre completely out of the picture. No idea haha.

Either way it's gonna be a fun couple of weeks. Berge has been one we looked at a while back under Marco so perhaps he is indeed still keen on him as an option. What a ride ha

Peter is apparently in the know on things fulham right so must be some truth to it

If he is a #6 then we have given up on Andre. If Andre is not sold before the Brazilian window is shut then they're going to have a really unhappy player.

Quote from: demeant0r on August 19, 2024, 07:54:31 PMIs Berge any good? I don't remember how he played last season.

As a Norwegian I know him quite well.

Physically strong, good with the ball, reads the game well. Has been very good in the national team and has shown that he can handle PL.

If we sign another midfielder along side Berge I'll be happy but if thus is the only cm we sign I'm abit underwhelmed

Caedal

It will be extremely interesting to see if they still go after Andre or look at another CM and view Berge at the CDM

The good thing about Berge is he has played both CDM and CM regularly so can cover both spots.

Ugh....if we've gone from the likes of Andre and McTom to Berge.....I'm feeling deflated all over again. Just don't understand the price tag whatsoever. He has glimpses of a decent player, but hes just not progressed at a key time of his career.....

Some of you need to be made aware of the fact that Manchester United wanted Berge to replace McTominay,
Seems a smart move to me, we were heavily linked with Berge before he went to Sheffield United
I for one am delighted he's joining, exactly what we need.

Ah thank you. That gives me a little hope.

That doesn't mean he's a good player. Just look at Kalvin Phillips :slap:

Berge is toilet what is Silva doing I remember when he was at Everton he spent over 100 million on donkey's please don't let him have free reign

I like Berge, and as far as I'm aware Burnley fans really rate him - they knew he'd be too good for another season in the Championship

And serious financial issues. But theyll find a lower bidder from somewhere youd think

Deeping_white

I honestly can't understand how some of you think he's no better than our current CM's when he's infinitely more talented than Reed is for starters. If you take a look at his stats profile he's actually a more rounded player than McTominay, and he's also not a proper #6 either, so with the figures quoted I would imagine it also gives us budget for Andre and a CB + forward because at one point it was Andre & McTominay and Berge is £10m cheaper than the quoted price for McTominay. He's also got good physical presence which we need because neither AP or Lukic have that in their game. Also have we learned nothing from Marco era signings that are "underwhelming" before Marco turns them into far better players

ffcthereligion

25m for berge is very disappointing IMO. Feels Ipswich-esque

I thought Berge was a box to box midfielder not a holding midfielder, if Marco wants him then good by me (not that i am important view wise lol).

The Scotland international is battling with his heart as he decides whether or not to leave his boyhood club.

Didn't expect it to move this quickly but still very happy.

Berge is a better player than I think soome are jumping on, marco and the board clearly like him as weve been in for him before. If he thinks he can work with him then so be it. Will have my full support until we see what hes really capable of in the flesh and can judge properly.

Not as flashy sounding a move as andre but he does have quality and can pick a pass so Im down to see how it plays out. I liked andre as an option but he is very much untestedand berge certainly a bigger physical presence so lets see

Berge tore us apart at the cottage last season. I haven't seen much of him otherwise.
