Bottom of the l'equipe article says he's not interested in joining us and has told his team that for what it's worth...

I AGREE
Remember you are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.
I will be as good as I can be and when I cross the finishing line I will see what it got me

I dont think we'll convince him (good luck, Marco!) but this is exactly the kind of signing we should be targeting now. Very exciting prospect.

He's played with both Tete and Andersen at Lyon has he not? Got two good references and I'm sure a chat with Marco will help no end

Prob before his time a bit?! Prob knew them as senior players do very good point however. Lots of French posts saying he's not interested which would be extremely frustrating. Plenty of fans seem to think it's a good stepping stone option for him. I think the other signings made may encourage him. Come on Marco sell, sell, sell the dream!!

Another one regarding the quoting, I have decent tech but it still drives me mad.

Perhaps if people only quote the person they are responding directly to it will resolve any problems.

Erm he's been in their first team since he was 16 I believe so might just about line up, not sure?! Either way I'm sure through social circles etc. he'd likely check in with them if he needed some sort of reference

"At present, Cherki is not interested in this project and has made this clear to his managers, while Fulham have not yet made contact with the player's entourage."

That doesn't make much sense, since we bid in Jan and we've bid again now; we're hardly going to waste our time trying to sign someone that doesn't want to join us? If it is true, we might as well bid the same for Chiesa since Juve want the same money as the deal we've agreed for Cherki

You're welcome to draw your own conclusions, but Hugo is always spot on with Lyon who I follow so his words will be true in my opinion.

He definitely played on the pitch with both Kenny and Andersen. Eg, they all started together for Lyon against Toulouse 18 Dec 2019.

Moussa Dembele mk2 also played for Lyon at that time, funnily enough.

Quote from: btffc on August 21, 2024, 08:16:28 PMWe all called for the Khans to back Marco this Summer. Well they stepped the hell up and backed him. My lord what a window this is becoming.
Careful now. Mick the Beard will have something to say about this. Remember, investment has stopped and the club is up for sale. So all these signings are just so the owners can chuck their money away.

Super Mick

What's happening with Andre? Aren't we still in need of a DM?

There are countless examples of clubs bidding for players that the player doesn't want to join, I'm surprised that this is being refuted. Hugo Guillemet and L'Equipe are genuinely really spot on, even if what they're reporting flies in the face of what people want to hear.

I'm not refuting it, more saying it would be odd for us to agree a deal with Lyon before ever apparently speaking to Cherki to see if he's interested, because you would do due dilligence on the deal first before potentially wasting your time

Yeah real shame. Sounds like very reliable sources so unless Marco can pull some sort of miracle out the bag this does seem very unlikely.

Fabrice Hawkins reporting it as well and he is best of the best for French players. He's just come off thinking he would go to Dortmund or PSG so no real surprise that he isn't excited about Fulham. May take a few days for the realization to set in that he isn't going to club at that level and Marco's powers of persuasion are unmatched. Probably also waiting to see if anyone bigger will come in before agreeing to Fulham.

It is odd, but it seems to be the case here. I don't know how deals work but I think typically clubs are supposed to agree a deal before getting the chance to speak to a player. Clearly doesn't always happen that way.

I hope we have a plan B lined up that we can pivot to quickly.

Not sure about these countless examples. I suspect what's happening here, if he's genuinely not interested, his agent/reps have insinuated to us he's interested, which gets us to bid, and in his eyes, alert the desirable clubs that he could possibly come to Fulham and they'd miss out. Football just doesn't work like football manager where well run clubs just bid for players before having these conversations. Posturing agents basically.
