Quote from: Angus Telford on August 28, 2024, 03:59:17 PMWhy wouldn't Nuamah be good enough to start? Just had a decent full season in the French top flight at the age of 19/20, seems an exciting talent. But sounds like papertalk because Lyon only just signed him, exercising an option on his loan at €25m.

It was a bit of a fake loan as Textor used Molenbook as a multi club loophole. It was a deferred signing.

This link feels a little bit last resort. Didn't do great last season.

Fulham 442

Well as Rayan Cherki made it plain he had absolutely no wish to join us I guess we had no choice but to end our interest in him and look elsewhere!

Well my assumption would be that he's primarily played on the right for Lyon so we'd be coverting him to a LW if so, unless we are signing him as a starting RW which is feasible, but I would argue the LW position is more pressing as we don't have a natural LW in the squad as it stands

Tbh all the wide man we've been rumoured to be in for recently have been more based at RW (or are right footed) than LW, with many of them having played across the front line in varying capacities, but always predominately on the right.

Rayan Cherki
Reiss Nelson
Viktor Tsygankov
Nuamah

All of them are RW's or more central players who've played across the line. None explicitly outright LW's

So make of that what we will I guess. Perhaps Silva sees RW as more important to upgrade on Wilson than LW to upgrade on ESR and Iwobi.

Dunno what to make of Nuamah. Don't know enough about him at all to comment other than he looks a decent up and coming prospect if a bit raw. IF the club see something in him then I trust them enough to get behind it. (another potential miss during AFCON seasons mind you)

Left footed right winger; Wilson replacement maybe? Certainly not the vaunted starting LW we need so that means our top target is still not publicly known

Silva has never said LW, he has said forward or someone that can play across the front line, which Nuamah would fulfill.

He also name drops Willian every time he talks about wingers, and since he was the only specialist LW we had it's not farfetched to assume we want someone who is primarily a LW considering Wilson & Traore play on the right and that's mostly where Iwobi plays too

He names both BDR (who was more so right side but played across the line) and Willian most of the time tbf. Says we need an attacker who can play across the forward line and we already brought in ESR who can play LW very successfully.

General

Is it just me who thinks we need an actual replacement who can hit the ground running in for the front line and not another young prospect?

Ernest is 20, and had 5 goal involvements in a bit part role for OL over 29 games last season.

I don't see how getting him solves our problems up front... Cherki was an interesting option but at a push.

Dare I say it, this is another reason why our transfer situation needs improving. We've in fairness done pretty well this summer, but this deal should've been done in parallel to others and not left so late, where having publicly stated we want a front line player, we haven't got anything close (Silva's words post Leicester)...

Now we've got little room and time to get someone through the door in quite an important position.

Yeah, this link feels desperate. The one I'm surprised we didn't go for is Jota Silva that Forest got this summer for £7m and seemed a handful. Also, had we signed Hudson Odoi last summer for £3m we wouldn't be searching around for one now.

Quote from: Angus Telford on August 28, 2024, 04:06:23 PMI still have a feeling ESR will be moved to LW when Berge comes in and AP returns to his normal position, but admit that is pure conjecture
Still some uncertainty as to whether AP is staying I suppose.

Most clubs do some amount of business in the last week and many do business in the last couple of days every year... we've only 1 role left to fill and most this summer would have said it was the lower priority of all the moves we've made, especially having brought in ESR early.

We'll see what manifests. Personally comfortable with Iwobi and ESR as our LW options (goal a piece for them so far) with Stansfield and Godo in reserve...and wish we'd consider Sess there too as he's better there than LB.

RW I'm personally happy with Adama and what he brings, knowing that we can move Iwobi there and ESR to the left (andreas at CAM) with Stansfield and Wilson in reserve at RW. Would like another to push them though and sure we'll get that.

So whilst it'd be awesome to have another established starter pressing those guys - I don't think an exciting upcoming prospect who may hit the ground running for all we know - but also might need some developing, is too much of a problem personally.

Willian was falling away from being a starter anyway end of the last year and BDR was our reserve attacker so bringing in ESR and a hot prospect whilst finally having a healthy Traore is an upward trajectory for me.

Depends what's on the table I guess. Cherki whilst young has played a lot of games and Viktor Tsygankov has plenty of experience, then we've also been linked with younger or less experienced players so we're potentially looking at all sorts of players, presumably looking for whatever blend of talent/potential/interest in the project and cost is best come DD.

Forest pal not fussed on Hudson Odoi - thinks his handful of goals in a latter spell last year flattered an otherwise unimpressive and inconsistent first season. We opted to renew Willian and since signed ESR who can play LW very well.

Looking forward to seeing who the last addition is come the end of the window. No need to judge until we find out who it is as none of us really know which targets we're most interested in and prioritising beyond Cherki who's turned us down at this point.

Santiago Giménez has informed Nottingham Forest about his decision to definitely reject their proposal.

He has a cracking goal scoring record

It's alright to comment on links though, I don't see the problem with that - but of course the final judgment will be who we actually do bring in.

Conversely my Forest supporting mates think CHO has really come along and is looking like a good player.

Tough on Forest - surprised the player allowed them to fly out to negotiate with him in the first place - Sounds like Bayern Leverkusen are interested so likely off to the Bundesliga. We aren't signing a striker on big money it seems given Marco appears happy with our options there.

We only sign a striker if someone bids something silly for Stanno I guess.

Yeh for sure, on the player themselves absolutely, just would reserve conclusions or judgement personally on the club without knowing the ins and outs of our target list and what conversations have been had and/or are being had currently, nor how long we may or may not have had the players we are talking to or interested in on our radar is all.

As for CHO - yup, it's a game of opinions as ever, just passing on the chatter from 1 ST holder in my immediate group, we all have players that split opinion.

For me I would prefer either one of ESR or Iwobi at LW - and think we can probably find someone at least equally as promising this week that can play across the line from the names linked so far. Let's see

Bassey the warrior

Very odd that Forest would get a combined £50m from Lyon for two squad players, one of which is about to be loaned out immediately after signing.

It's also extremely convenient for them, they spent £200m net across the last two seasons but with these sales they're sat at just £6m net for this window.

I like him as a player but he's 30 years old and he had his purple patch a season or two ago, plus he mainly plays on the right and we need someone on the left. I think we need to look for a younger player or look for a 1 year loan deal if we can't find the right player.

Neal Maupay is expected to leave Everton before Friday's transfer deadline, with Marseille and two Premier League clubs interested in signing the French forward.

🤔

I think that's a bit of a jump from anything I wrote. Personally really not keen on Cherki and Nuamah links which I think are credible based on Peter Rutzler etc.

Hopefully though another rumour comes up out of nowhere that's impressive. I'd like ESR to play down the middle.

Not against Almiron link but would be good to have someone with pace. CHO would have been a good combination of ball retention and explosiveness, but that's in the past now.

From Sky;

Fulham have turned down a loan offer for midfielder Adrion Pajaziti from Croatian club Gorica.
Marco Silva's side would prefer to send the player to a club in the UK.
