Quote from: Kingjay81 on August 30, 2024, 09:13:32 PMA lot of hearts ruling over heads I reckon with Stansfield.
He gives me slight Cauley Woodrow vibes. Technically good and a good finisher but not enough flair, skill or raw pace to scare premier league full backs and not enough of a presence to play through the middle.

He'll have a good career but I just don't see it in the premier league.

Good luck to him if he goes. Seems a good lad

But, then why did Silva state that "HE (Jay) is 100% a Fulham player and will be used this season"!

Maybe just me, but I feel slightly let down and hope that Silva comes out and explains why this was allowed - if indeed it happens?
He didn't - he said 'almost' 100% certain

Plus is jay in the 25 man Squad or as u21 not have to be registered within that 25 and marco could have been talking about the 25 registered players

ffcthereligion

IF we do not sign a winger, despite silva making it abundantly clear that he believes we 'must', will there be criticism?

Quote from: Free Elvis Hammond on August 30, 2024, 09:37:27 PMThis Nuamah link is bizarre - Nizaar Kinsella at BBC Sport and Adam Leventhal at the Athletic both saying we're working on a deal

The thing is, Lyon only signed him permanently last month for about £25m, after a season there on loan. The fee going around now is £15m ish

I know they've had terrible financial trouble but they've spent a fortune in this window - have they just made an absolute balls-up of it? That they have to take a £10m loss on a big new signing?
As someone said on this forum, they demanded a similar fee for Cherki, so it's possible that they need that kind of money urgently, and because Cherki didn't want to go, they had to sell someone else, even if it's at a loss.
will never understand clubs transfer business.

Jay would count against the 25 man squad this season, he's no longer an u-21.

Does anyone known if we got then cravenettes back as part of the Andersen deal?

Depends on DoB

If Stansfield wants to go, maybe it's time to let him go. I'm not convinced he has the potential to become a regular starter for us in the Premier League.

A year ago Luke Harris looked FAR more promising in our pre-season games, and look how many minutes he got... Stansfield scored a nice goal against Birmingham, but let's be realistic, his first touch was poor, he needed too much time to get that shot away, ANY PL defender would have prevented that goal. Apart from the goal he didn't really impress me against a League One side. Josh King looked FAR more promising against Birmingham IMO.

Don't get me wrong, if Stanfield stays I will support him 100% and hope he will turn into a great player for us. But based on what I've seen of him so far I really don't see how he can ever become a regular starter for us in the Premier League. At least not with our current tactics/formation.

The Cravenette

Birmingham fans on X cheering on the possibility of us signing Nuamah as they think that releases Jay to them.

Surely that deal has nothing to do with Jay.

Yes. But thankfully it looks like we are 😜

Well yes, and because of Jay's DoB he is no longer an u-21 this season.

What constitutes an Under-21 player?
For the 2024/25 Premier League season, Under-21 players will have been born on or after 1 January 2003

JimmyConway

The main thing against Stansfield in premier league is physicality side of it but quite sure with his technique pace & intelligence he will still have an impact. His age he ticks all the boxes apart from perhaps physical side currently. The lad has so much natural ability. Has to be said the games comes easy to him whereas Muniz & Jimenez to a degree have to work hard at their game. You don't sell someone of his age with natural ability. Long term he is worth far more than Muniz will ever be.

Nuamah is a good upgrade overall. 20 years old, starts for a big club like OL. Let's hope we get this one across the line.

Nice. I'm quite happy with this signing. He has raw physical attributes that you can't train into a player. Marco will improve him and I feel like he'll be good.

Now, if Stansfield is leaving then another striker in and we've had a great window.

I have absolutely no idea how you quote the correct rule and the correct dates and still cannot see he is not an u-21.

Edit: You sneakily edited out the statement that Jay was born in November 2002, which answers your question!

S.F.Sorrow " If Stansfield wants to go, maybe it's time to let him go"

If he has stated that he would rather leave then he is no player for us and can go, I agree!
It would also show lack of self belief, if true, but I don't think that's so?

I also can't see us playing him on Tuesday to sell him on Friday, to the team we played on Tuesday!? But, hey, stranger things happen!

blingo

10m is a good price for Stansfield imho

Hatch007

It's not beyond the realms of possibility that after two seasons of regularly starting (at Exeter and Birmingham), then returning to St Andrews on Tuesday and being reminded of the love their fans still harbour for him, it dawned on Stansfield that being a sub/bit-part player in the PL might be a backward step regarding his continued development.

Not saying that's the case but he wouldn't be human if the thought didn't cross his mind.

And Birmingham will almost certainly be in the Championship next season with the possibility of pushing for promotion to the Premier League the following season.

They have huge backing and plans to build a 60k seater stadium according to a Brum client/mate of mine. Not a bad "project" to buy into ...
