It just shows that some deals cannot be done until the last minute
MS accepts this and is prepared to wait for a player of his choosing to be signed rather than pick from those that are on offer.

Tons of clubs all over Europe in the same situation, many of which have been deals clubs have been trying to do all summer and in key positions (like utds new DM)

We managed to strike a deal for a winger with plenty potential which I think some people are massively underating and hoe he proves it here.

Everton, Ipswich and plenty others clearly failed on multiple fronts  That's the game

On we go, I am disappointed we seemingly are sticking with Vini or another youth player as 3rd choice striker till at least January but Jay was 3rd choice at this point and  getting minutes outside of up front so far in pre season and cup, so thats way too much to turn down... hopefully between our forwards and attacking players boosted by ESR and Reiss we can attack better as a unit then add whatever we need in Jan or next summer

If push comes to shove, maybe Diop can be converted. He would not be the first centre back to move forward.

That is a really good point that I had forgotten about in the craziness. Arsenal fans were all saying no way they could let him leave without another winger coming in. Reports are that we switched up to him...perhaps the green light was only given when Sterling went through. Even if the Lyon kid did pull the plug not much we could do about that. People saying it should have been done weeks ago but Lyon also needed to replace him and only got Zaha today. None of us know but Nelson could have been our first choice as much as some feel it is underwhelming. We haven't seen details of the deal but my only major issue will be if no option to buy.

For the record I like Reiss Nelson and wish this was a permanent.
As for strikers, The Khan reign seems blinkered when it comes to this position. Mitro loan/acquisition a bit of a fluke and other then that our foray into buying goalscoring talent has been very limited.
We needed a striker before Mitro left and have been crying out for a scorer ever since...
Appreciate that we are not the only club in this position but we dont even get linked with number 9's

Still cant see vini confirmed anywhere and no message from the club about his departure where stanno had been confirmed already

Looks like its him back in the fold as 3rd choice or perhaps young Callums chance to put himself in contention. Lets hope we can avoid injuries and get Muniz firing again, worst case its vini redemption arc time 😅

We look like mugs, an otherwise semi-respectable window undermined by the usual wheeler dealing and penny pinching and lack of consideration that we actually need to field a football team for the next 9 months

I hope that you bring this up with MS when you meet him next
It is so unreasonable of him to be prepared to wait until two or three matches into the season for players of his choosing to be signed.
Tell MS that he should choose from those that can be signed in time for the preseason.

Whoever (if anyone) we sign in the coming minutes, it will not be the player of his (or anyone's) choosing. It will be the dregs of the market that was left available after all else failed.

Nelson will play many more minutes for us this season than Stansfield would have done. And we've negotiated a remarkable deal for Stansfield. Shame about Nuamah but better he backed out tonight than regretted signing for us tomorrow. And we could then have been left without any incoming player. I think it's to our credit we had the communication in place to get Nelson on loan at short notice. As someone said earlier: What must Ipswich fans be thinking? Nuamah may have made an immediate impact - but it was by no means a given. No money has been wasted. We can put it all towards a future target. I don't think it merits getting worked up about.

He's never played higher than the championship with any regularity and Birmingham will likely end up paying much north of £20m to us with the sell on fee included. They are a league one club and for context they've paid double what Liverpool paid for Chiesa who is infinitely more talented

15 million + 5 million add-ons + 20% of next transfer for someone who is completely unproven at the highest level and had one pretty good season in the Championship isn't a remarkable deal?

If that is actually what the deal was then it's really good business. Still feel gutted to see him go though. I really want us to bring through some talent through the academy and break into the first team. The last player I remember who did that and stayed for a good period of time was Sean Davis.
