Can't we just do a swap with ESR.

Quote from: demeant0r on May 26, 2025, 10:48:40 AMMaybe, and hopefully, the plan is to let TC leave and have King step up in place. If by the January transfer window King is not doing well then we're being in someone on loan.

However we still need to bring in a captain who starts week in week out.

I think the TC for King sub yesterday was intended as a bit of a handing over of the guard moment. When I saw the team sheet I had a feeling that would happen, obviously the hope would have been it would have been in more glorious circumstances. But felt symbolic none the less

I agree. TC's body language leaving the field and on the bench looked like someone who was playing his last game. Personally I hope it is not the case because the last 2 games are a reminder of what he still has to offer in a supporting role.

To be honest, I'd rather he leaves now and we purchase a leader who can play week-in, week-out. What use is a captain who only plays 20 minutes a match?

Not that I'm against this transfer but are we Ash Ketchum FC? Because we're collecting Arsenal players like we're collecting Pokemon.

Also, if true. Is this the quickest we've ever signed someone after the end of a season? Mr Ludlow Richards?

Really locking on to the Arsenal B team theme. I'm not sure it's great value and it looks very similar in recruitment mindset to previous summers where we actually need a fresh approach to kick on.

32 matches
Goals 0
Assists 2.

Fantastic. 😃

As always look at playing time rather than headline match numbers. Only actually played 12 games in terms of minutes played.

All comps 3 goals and 2 assists in 17 matches when looking at mins played.

Neither amazing but a lot more than Berge/Lukic and he's only been a bit part player this season for Newcastle. Not surprising as he has Joel Linton, Tonali and Gutierrez ahead of him.

Will be 26 start of the next season so a bit over the age profile I was hoping for but having said that I think the 8 is the one position we need an experienced starter. I really thought Berge/Lukic was the answer but just not offering nearly enough going forward. Weird as Lukic historically has been an 8 but just looks better as a 6 for us. Could play both against the best teams in the league but hoping we rotate them as a 6 in the main next year and bring in an 8 who can attack and defend.

Does Willock fit that profile? Quite possibly if Marco can get his career going again.

- 2 goals in 7.5 games of playing time last year.
- 6 assists and 3 goals in 28.5 games of playing time the year before...that is more like it.
- poor the year before that with just 2 goals in 22.5 games
- 20/21 he got 11 goals and 3 assists in all comps in 22 games of playing time and 8 of the goals were in the prem in 13 games of playing time.

Looking at stats very high in the percentiles carries and shot creating actions. Looks decent most years for tackles as well. Not a big passer at all. Clearly looks like a box to box dribbler who can create and score when he's on it and in form. Believe he's pretty rapid as well.

Sounds like he is a confidence player who needs to playing. Newcastle fans seem happy to be rid but clearly he's not been on the form of previous years the last few. Can Marco get the best out of him and find that previous form? Who knows. Think his profile is certainly what we are looking for if he could find his form again. Arsenal connection as well so suspect he knows our other ex Arsenal well. Even not on his best form would be be more of a threat than AP, Berge, Lukic? Almost definitely. AP out for £20m+ at 29 and Willock in for £25m at 26 perhaps not the worst business?

South Coast White

137 matches 13 goals, NO THANKS.

£25m ! Tidy footballer but a tad overpriced there if that figure is accurate? Prem to Prem transfers always a premium.
Not prolific in goals from midfield so should be home from home with us? Consistency always seems to be an issue though saying that not sure if he has ever had a long enough run in any team?
People will start saying we are Arsenal B the way things are going?

Despite my last post highlighting some possible benefits I do agree with this. If it is the one position we go for some prem experience fair enough but really would be great if we can find some young brilliance from abroad or the championship with huge upside potential. If we were to get Willock and then went and signed someone like Doak At 19 from Liverpool after a good champ season and a few others like him fair enough but think everyone can see with the squad we have that we don't need another 4 or 5 26 year olds with prem experience. Perhaps the 8 more so that anywhere if we sell, Reed and AP and Cairney goes but others have to be different in my opinion.

Willock has trouble with time keeping apparently, fined on a few occasions for turning up late for training.

As per my post above only sub appearances in a tonne of those games. He has 15 goals and 9 assists in 92 games of playing time in the prem so a goal involvement every 3.8 games. His main position is central midfield so that's not too bad. Not checked AP's stats but apart from assists from corners first year can't be many.

Not saying I think he is the perfect signing but just to provide a bit of context.

Your looking back to previous seasons.
Lately has been poor, and as I've stated,he has been fined a few times for turning up late...Attitude Problem.🤔

See my post above...broken down season by season. Know he's been poor the last few as I have highlighted. It's weather Marco could get the good seasons Willock out of him.

Anyway prob all academic. Newcastle fans all saying the account that has posted it doesn't have a clue.

Personally hope we can find someone younger and better but just saying there has been a good player there in the past and when on it he does fit the more attacking 8 profile I am hoping we are looking at.

ffcthereligion

Fulham fc will never be able to sign a player who is the perfect age profile, proven in the PL and has a contemporary great record of goals and assists. That some people can't understand this and denigrate any rumoured signing is unbelievable to me

WindyCity

Just looking at his stats and fact Willock really couldn't get much pitch time with others ahead of him, I just don't see the attraction here?  (If this 'rumor'? is true)

Got some pretty good midfielders ahead of him! Think this Newcastle fan sums it up well:

"Was a critical player when we finished 4th a few seasons ago. Since then he's struggled with injuries and been unable to dislodge our other (better) midfielders. Still only 25 and talent is there."

Tabby

Joe Willock is pretty unimpressive. An upgrade on Reed but not really the kind of player to push to the next level imo.

A bit steep in price. Shouldn't be more than £20 million tops.
