Leeds preparing a new offer for Muniz. Bit worried on this one. Could it be like Blues and Stansfield where we say he's not for sale but as a means to drive up the price.

Only a new contract will quieten suspicion on this one.

Somerset Fulham

I do think that if Leeds are relying on the lad to keep them in the Premier League next season then its going to be a long arsed season for them.

Quote from: ffcthereligion on June 27, 2025, 07:19:08 PMThe promise of Muniz will go down in Fulham folklore. I cannot recall a player who ever evoked such a supportive reaction in the fan base on the basis of his 'potential'.

We all had exactly the same conversation last year, it was his time to lead the line, he's worth 50m etc etc.

At what point do people say he is what he is?

You've clearly not seen that he had more goals per minutes than any other forward in the prem last season then? Bar salah!

As I said...
Was the same with Cauley Woodrow

Zinchenko is a LB predominantly, meaning likely competition for Robinson? Or is Robinson likely to be off if we sign him?

Know he's played LW and a bit of CM, so had marcos versatility, but what about Sessegnon who more than showed himself last season.

very true with cauley ,also
Muniz will have to start making double figures in the PL this coming season think the ability is there.

And he is one of the top 3 players in the league for goals per minute.

Never seen a player do so much and get so much stick for no reason. Truly find this division completely baffling.

It's not a smoke and mirrors thing, there's actual stats backing it up, but his critics don't seem to acknowledge that.

Quote from: General on June 27, 2025, 08:52:37 AMIt's amazing the alternative narratives fans can come up with and push, despite rarely having genuine insights on players or clubs preferences, the genuine financial position of the club and those who take decisions...

In particular at this moment in time saying the club will/should sell Muniz (not everyone is saying this admittedly)..

Firstly muniz isn't in his prime, so those interested in cash money aren't thinking properly. You tend to keep assets that you know will appreciate in value over time.

If some say - let's sell him for £30m when we all acknowledge he could be worth £50m-£60m then you're basically selling yourself short or up s**t creek without a paddle.

Why would you knowingly miss out on an extra potential 100% of upside, when all you need to do is be patient.

It's very short term and unhealthy thinking.. kinda desperate. Which the club aren't.

Don't forget the rise in valuation is based on improved performances on the pitch, which is great for the club in terms of points, league positions and revenues, but could see us get into Europe, where £30m would make a lot less difference than £60m.

It's funny how there have been no sounds out of anyone at the club saying they want Muniz gone, if anything the complete opposite, shown in practice by Muniz staying on at the club and succeeding despite his poor Middlesbrough loan.

And even the more mainstream press like SSN, who are usually first to jump on a rumour and inflate it have said that fulham have no intention of selling Muniz..

Now, I know, sometimes things change.. and Marco has wanted players to stay before who've left. So we're not ruling anything out per se, but mitrovic was forcing through his move and we were getting good value for him.. similarly with Palhinha.

But Muniz isn't going for what he's worth, and by a long way, and he's not going to a top European team, or to a club that's paying him obscene amounts, or even a better place to live with a better setup re coach/manager that believe in him and can help him develop.

Could be conceivable that he can only be a £50m player playing in a better team, just a thought

Could be. Also could be a question of utilising his talent to build a better team.. Leeds aren't a better team, that's for sure.

Also, could be conceivable that he could be/is a £50m player in his own right, because he simply is that good, can be that good, and is deeply motivated to be that good and believes he can be that good.

Thought seems to be that Zinchenko is a midfielder who was moved to LB and might prefer to move back into a #8 role. When you consider Pep was mostly using him as an inverted/tucked in LB it makes sense he could be the Reed or maybe AP replacement on the roster.

Is it "stick" though?
Feels like I'm one of the biggest pessimists on here re Muniz, but wouldn't say I've given him stick.
I actually really like the lad,  believe it or not, and agree it's at least *possible* he could be great for us.
My rating of him at this point just stops at what he's actually achieved, rather than having high confidence that he'll achieve a lot more.
Surely that isn't stick.

I'm sure most of FoF is a bit tired of our back and forth on the subject @Angus Telford. Whether stick is exactly the correct word is another discussion. But the Cauley comparison, and the posts mocking perceived is to what people say he could be etc.

Rather than 'stick' I'll use the term doubt. I think his goal rate is really impressive - and many are important goals, different types of goals, against big teams. I'm not quite sure what's missing that makes people so doubtful. I think his arc is an unusual one, and he was a bit of a limby mess at the start, but he showed flashes or quality like that Stoke game. Right now, I consider him a clinical and technically impressive striker capable of scoring all sorts of goals and showing ingenuity.

Stick definitely isn't the right way to describe what I said and I don't think doubt is either. Certainly not of the player he is now anyway, which is a very welcome option to have in the squad who is just about good enough to rely on as a starter for mid table

What I might doubt is the 'next season just around the corner' narrative. If not now, when? Is the way I see it. Certainly given he is 24 and is entering his 5th season at Fulham.

IMO, too much value is being placed in what he is going to do, rather than what he has done. And we've been here before. That was the point. Feel free to pick your semantic reference to describe that I just don't personally see it as stick

hopper

Fair enough to the replies, happily adjusted stick as a term if you don't think it's fair.

I'd still hold a contention on the matter of what he could do vs what he has done.

He's had two good seasons in a row, so think the now is already very good.

BestOfBrede

All that matters, to me anyway, is that Silver thinks Muniz is the real deal!

It just so happens I agree with him and believe he will become a striker wanted by the big boys in the near future. Therefore, DO NOT sell him to newly promoted team that is likely to struggle and it could be them that make a fortune from him!

He hasn't been given a chance as no 1 in our team as yet - get the minutes and get the goals (IMO)

There's not many players who can make Virgil van Dijk look like an idiot but Rodrigo is one of them.

Maybe a separate Muniz post please, stick to Transfer Rumours only perhaps

Somerset Fulham

It is kind of a huge rumour though!
