Summer Silly Season Transfer Thread 2025

Not a plug, but just seen Solomon being returned to Spurs following a fairly decent season with Leeds. I wonder what's next for him. I'd imagine he'll get a pre season for Frank to assess, but can't really see him hanging around. Maybe one that goes abroad. Shame he went for Spurs really.

He is a tiny man with a obscenely large ego - or at least was when he played for us. He came to the club with an intense desire to prove himself.. he did so, then shunned us for Spurs where his lack of quality shone through when compared to better players and he's gone backwards, since playing for Leeds in the Championship as you mentioned.

He was talented and obviously did well for us when he did play, though was never given complete freedom and a starting birth under Marco, presumably because of his attitude.

Was a case of what if, but in truth, it was the same time we were after Justin Kluivert, who has gone on to do impressive things for Bournemouth and was seemingly our first choice that we missed out on due to the Club dragging its heels and then not having enough time to sort out his visa.

I don't think the club could have sorted out Kluiverts visa, main issue there is expecting the rules to be read in a reasonable way rather than by the letter.

I'm pretty sure when Solomon left, he made some comments suggesting he'd of liked to stay and some on here suggested Silva didn't actually want him (which makes sense if he preferred Adama). But he certainly had an ego, but then again, he went over to the championship so maybe it wasn't quite as it seems on that front?

The Kluivert wasn't anything to do with the club, he failed his visa.

Because of the new system when brexit happened and the fact Kluivert hadn't had much game time. He didn't qualify for a work permit, the club appealed but he just didn't have enough points.

That season he played much more football and the next year he had enough points accumulated.

No fault of Fulham.

I know there has been some recent discussion about TC staying for another season.  Yes, I have liked this player and he has been terrific servant to this club.  But, I'm sorry, methinks it's time to move on already.  In this world of competitive sport, you just can't hang on to players, take up a space, because a lad happens to be a 'captain' type, a team leader, great inside the locker room and out.  And for a never to be forgotten promotion goal at Wembley.  I will always agree with those that feel leadership is necessary in a squad, but maybe those roles should be taken up by new or younger players.  A small mid table club such as FFC has to move on and improve itself every season to stay in this league.  I don't see bringing TC back for another season is the way to improve.

Tolu Arokodare as striker option looks really good.  Both Reitz and Arokodare very young!

Not sure I'd pass on Calvert Lewin.. He's 28 and at his best scored 16 goals in the PL in 20-21. Everton have been a s***teshow for years since and it's completely understandable with what's gone on there they'd suffer motivationally.

I think he's almost the perfect player for Marco, an experienced PL player who has the ability but needs a coach with expectations and ambition, but also the ability to coach him to be better. He adds pace to our forward line, which neither Muniz or Jimenez have, and with Jimenez getting on in age, it's arguably a safe bet to have him join with long-term in mind.

He doesn't have to be our star signing for the front line, but definitely an option with potential.

He's 28 and has been injured for over 500 days in the last four seasons. He'd be a high wage third choice backup who might spend a good chunk of the season unavailable. Might as well actually spend money on a younger player with potential resale value because Raul is likely entering his last season here and DCL would be a worse backup in comparison and would be turning 30 by the time Raul leaves, meaning we'd not really be lowering the age of the squad and just going from one ageing striker to another. He's also deffo not quicker than Muniz

A broke Lyon spent €31m on Moussa Niakhate before 30 June when Forest massively needed money. While moving on Sarr for €10m who is mow at Chelsea. Also bought Mangala for €25m. Now £10m agreed for Igor Jesus, who is worth around 2-3 times that value.

It's weird. Wonder what Textor is getting as nobody in football would agree to these deals unless there is something else going on we don't know about. Which is plausible given Marinakis' history.

Also earlier this summer a very plugged in US reporter said Matt Turner would be sold to Lyon for $9.1M (basically the same price Forest paid for him which would be an insane fee considering how big of a disaster he was in the PL). Not sure if Lyon's recent relegation will impact that.

Even if legal it's a joke. Very annoying when the rest of us are having to watch every frigging penny to stay compliant. If they've landed Fofana that massively improves them.
