Don't know, my opinion is that it would depend on the profile of Striker we bring in. If they can also play on the wing let's say.

But Romulo doesn't really seem to have been played there to date much. If he's still our current main target, which seems to be the case, then im interested to see if the club are comfortable enough with risking the injury situation.

As before - I suppose Nelson/Wilson/Traore/Sess/Godo with ESR also capable is still a good set of options, would rather Godo went on loan though with another winger brought in. If it goes well on loan we can look to ease in Godo for a 30/31 yr old Traore the following season depending on how hes getting on

Sunderland close to signing Armand Laurienté, their 7th signing of the summer.

He's a good player from what I've seen before, impressive dead ball striking.

They could be a lot of fun to watch, as ever with a big squad overhaul - will they all gel together and be able to compete in such a competitive league. At the very least they're having a good go; and on the surface it's more impressive than what other recent promoted sides have done in the transfer window.

Really didn't want JP lining up against us but he does fit the prem best. Think for me Arsenal might be the lesser of two evils as just can't stand Spurs. Either better than United as well for me. Big sigh however you look at it however.

Sounds like Spurs are going for him, apparently he wants to return to London, he barely plays for BM, just 17 games last season, he just isnt used, wanted or able to break through. Makes sense at 30, world cup coming up, to be playing every week

Yeah, there's very little point in them getting Palhinha given they've already signed Zubimendi and Norgaard in one summer, alongside having also got Declan Rice.

Those are three top/good options in the PL. He'd be hard pressed to get more games there then he did at Bayern.

Perhaps fulham can pull something off.

They're giving themselves a good chance by getting the bulk of their signings in so they can play in a few friendlies together

Nelson would be a sensible signing. Iwobi will be unavailable for part of the season with his international team so quality cover is needed. If we can find equally good cover for Wilson on the right and a back up striker then we should be ready. I know many supporters are concerned about Benda. I haven't seen him so can't comment although if Silva is satisfied then so am I.

Without trying to be rude, is this not a given seeing as Arsenal fly out to Singapore tomorrow? Sami Mokbel's piece said all parties were working towards concluding the deal as quickly as possible, ideally before Saturday. It's a shame there have been no further updates in the press since the story broke on Wednesday afternoon. I don't understand how a deal like this is dragging on in all honesty, especially when the player wants the move.

If we hear nothing before this evening, the biggest sign will surely be if Nelson travels with them or not. Fingers crossed he doesn't!

Only way we have a chance is on loan paying max 50% of his wages with a chunky loan fee on deadline day IF no one else willing to buy him and pay his full wages.

It being World Cup season and his desire for regular first team football might be the only thing that plays into our hands, but Bayern will be looking for a sale primarily and will hold out for that unless/until that looks unlikely, so we'd be waiting and hoping until deadline day for the unlikely to happen. As much as I love Joao i'd rather we move onto other targets given my suspicions that this is the reality.

I'd absolutely love to see him in a Fulham shirt again but Marco outright said it's a position we don't need to look at. He'll also want champions league football. Agree with the suspicion as much as it pains me.

Personally I'm not that bothered about getting him back. We have Lukic and Berge and I really don't see how all three can start so if we sign Palhinha one of the other two has to drop to the bench. That seems a lot of expense for a modest upgrade to me.

Yeah this why it will never happen....we are fully covered there with those two and Marco seems to think so as well. To be fair I agree with the assessment but I'd still give anything to see those crunching tackles at our cottage again (and not in a frigging Spurs shirt).  Seems highly unlikely however with Berge and Lukic on the books.

Says that every year doesn't he? Plenty of reports we do under current rules but also reports that we are planning for new rules where we are tight. Don't expect us to go crazy but multiple reliable sources saying we'll get at least one winger (prob 2), a striker and an 8. You'd prob expect at least another £80m spent then.

I'd hate to see JP go to another PL club, particularly Spurs. I certainly understand the sentiment of not wanting to bring in older players and pleased to see us linked with Romulo. Personally, I think a mixture of the two is a sensible approach as I genuinely believe we could have finished in the Top 6 last year with JP in the team - with his last ditch tackles we would not have dropped as many points from winning positions late on in games and he also added goals too. My pessimism means he'll end up at Spurs with their (undeserved) Champions League place. I'd rather he stayed at Bayern but if we could get a good deal late in the window if he wants playing time and a return to London then it's a no brainier from me. Can see Bayern messing us about though on deadline day as revenge for when we didn't let him go the season before!

I agree with you entirely anyone but Spurs! I wouldn't have an issue with him signing for Chelsea Arsenal or any other London club apart from them.
