Joe Samson is absolutely right in this post.

Check it out also his quotes on comments

Why are we giving credit and airtime to a nobody fan who is just sharing an opinion?

I didn't share my tweet...but being called a nobody for no reason feels a little harsh! Just a fan like everyone else

Don't take it too personally. When it comes to most fans, myself included, when it comes to football, and in particular the running of the club and our transfers, we're all nobody.

You may be a somebody in the world, or on your way to becoming someone.. but this is strictly transfer/fulham related.

Nothing personal beyond that.

A somebody in this context would be, for me, Ali Mac, tha khan's, Marco Silva, the players and agents in question and some of the clubs staff.

You're not one of those.

I'm getting real Andy Lonergan vibes about this move - or would Kiraly be a better one(?). I guess we're not serious about offering genuine competition to Leno, and it would be a fight with Benda for the subs bench.

He has been a starting goalkeeper in the top flight consistently other than when he was stuck behind Jan Oblak at least.

Sorry have I missed something, who is Borto please?

Youth keeper.

Haha how have you come to this conclusion? He was captain of Montpellier last season and started near on every game in Ligue 1. He has previously been at Monaco and Atletico Madrid. He is an upgrade on Benda 100% and nowhere near the level of Lonergan who was previously a Championship squad player..

Quote from: IloveFFC on July 21, 2025, 09:22:25 AMAnother transfer window where Fulham will sign reinforcements in the last week of August. Nothing is happening, and there's still talk of selling Wilson. It doesn't make sense to me.

This squad needs 5-6 players, not more players to lose.

The same goes for Andreas Pereira. Some fans want him to be sold, but the club takes weeks or months to bring in someone to replace him.

I'm sure Silva is frustrated. Another window in which the club doesn't sign anyone in time for preseason and the start of the Premier League.

Yep, I'm particularly frustrated.

Everyone bringing in reinforcements except us.

Quote from: Mullers OG on July 21, 2025, 09:39:38 AMI hope there are serious efforts being made to get Wilson to sign a new contract. His current one ends next year. If he's determined not to renew then it's probably sensible to cash in while the club can.

Wilson is IMO our only top class right winger. We already need a goal scoring back up. If Wilson goes we need two, rather quickly. Sess isn't really at his best on the right and Godo may not be ready.

"They've taken up the option of my extension - when I signed it was for four years with an option," said Wilson.

"We are in talks for a new deal. The option was just in case a deal doesn't get done. My main option would be to sign a new deal at Fulham and hopefully we can get to an agreement on that."

Not true in anyway, this has been an exceptionally slow window for teams not in the Champions league or newly promoted.

Hardly anyone has signed anyone.

Quote from: Tabby on July 21, 2025, 08:52:47 AMThere was a post from Fabrizio Romano early in the window after the extension got triggered that Harry Wilson would either sign a new long term contract or leave this window IIRC. Could see the argument for cashing in now as I doubt he is going to increase in value.

Don't think Harry Wilson can be more than a squad player if we actually want to challenge for European spots.
Apart from a couple of defenders the rest are all squad type players and to challenge for European football we will need two thirds of this squad upgrading.

We were challenging for Europe last season actually and we are not Liverpool nor United to change two thirds of the squad. In my opinion, we just need one x-factor player like Eze or Matheus Cunha to get to Europe.

Supposed to be doing a medical today according to footmercato. Bit of a meh signing but should be an upgrade on Benda, supposedly cheap at least.

Lecomte is a very good, experienced keeper. A solid signing for a backup.

Craven Mad

Not sure about Lecomte...

I can't say I follow Montpellier at all, so I'm definitely not making any strong statements, but his stats look pretty woeful...

Personally, I'd have preferred us to find a backup who's much younger, is ready to start in early cup games, and might be able to challenge Leno in a season or two.

C'est la vie... at least he'll be cheap and it'll end the 'when will we sign someone?!' posts!

Keepers can easily play in the PL past 40 nowadays, 34 for a keeper is not an issue

@jolslover

500k for a keeper that is an upgrade on Benda is pretty good business. IMO

His stats show he exceeded his expected saves to goals by over 10 in 22-23 & 23-24 (7.5 + 2.8) combined. Granted last season he underperformed but he was also in the worst team in the league behind an awful defence so I don't think it can be fully attributed to him

Not necessarily disagreeing but more out of interest, which keepers have regularly played in the Prem past 40 in recent years? Only one I can think of is Fabianski who has only just turned 40.

Looking at his stats briefly it seems he has peaks and valleys in form. Poor last season, good the season before and abysmal for Espanyol but top of the league for Montpellier two seasons ago.

For me the GK is a position you can often get some real continuity from, easily 5-10+ years often. If we keep buying eldery keepers, we will keep having to switch them out

Surlyc

Lecomte would be fine as a low impact reserve GK signing. As a backup, you would hope he never plays a game beyond the early round of the cup anyway.

I don't think this signing will help the frustration in the fanbase though. I guess the pressure will continue to build until the club actually make a big signing (hopefully of either a box-to-box midfielder or a winger).
