Just going through some of the comments on here about Adama and I thought it was important to point a few things out.

Adama played a total of 1770 minutes in the PL last season (according to whoscored website anyway), that's just over 19.5 games. He got 10 goal/assist contributions. Yes, I know the official stats say 9 goal/assist contributions but I don't care, he was robbed of an assist in the second half of the season - I believe he setup a Raul header. This basically outlines that not only does he have a 2:1 game/goal assist ratio but he also creates a lot of more chances which is invaluable.

He's also a player we're going to find it hard to replace because he's pretty unique in his style. I think we'll pick up less points with him out of the squad than if he were in it.

He's 30 years old next year so he's still in his 20s but I think he only has 1 year left on his contract (does anyone know?) so that does need to be considered. If he had 2 years on his contract I would be saying he's worth £25m minimum probably more, but given he's only got 1 year left on his contract I would still be asking for £20m for him. It's late in the window and we haven't bought in any outfield players as of yet so it would give us a lot to do if we sell a player who is arguably our best right winger / right forward.

I would prefer to see him stay but if he were to go it would have to be for £20m minimum - at least in my opinion anyway.

Correct on his contract, expires summer 2026 as the club took up the option to extend it by a year

That would e a disaster

Another point with Adama is he plays on his natural side, a right footer playing wide right. He's the only non-inverted winger we have (unless Iwobi plays on the right). That gives him much better crossing angles and allows him to cross on the run instead of checking back and slowing everything down.

Agree it's good that he beats people on the outside, but small additional thing...he's also very adept at cutting back and crossing inswingers to the back post with his left...did it a number of times last year leading to goals or good chances.

We need goalscoring back up on the right for Wilson. If Traore goes for a fee we can then afford a proper back up.

Spot on re Traore. Iwobi has stated he prefers playing off the right wing and I would imagine he is seen as more valuable to the team not only in goals? Iwobi game management is superior to Adama. If they are offering him a 2-3 year contract then it's likely there going to pay a fee for his services as we triggered the extra year. Nothing surprises you in football nowadays but this one might?

I've always found Adama felt like a bit of a square peg in a round hole stylistically for us. His assist contributions were pretty impressive last season, often in key moments. His shooting technique was always lacking, but he did make up for that with some wonderful deliveries.

Wing was a position I wanted us to have a marquee signing in that raises our ceiling, and if there was one player to make way numbers wise I'd say Adama is the one I could see moving. If we could get Nelson + a big signing to replace Adama then I'd do it.

Would be curious on numbers here, he only has a year to go. The fact it's a PL rival (who he would suit stylistically well) I think should bump up asking price considerably.

I don't mind selling Adama for the fees quoted (15 mil). I don't think he wants to sign another contract and I'd rather get a fee then lose him for nothing.

I also think it would be necessary to use the money to find a replacement, but I hope the club could find someone young to develop (20-22). If only our scouting network knew there are more clubs outside of chelsea and arsenal we may be able to find such a player.

Agreed - given he only has one year left on his contract I'd rather sell now and materialise some profit rather than lose him for nothing at the end of the season. I don't think he's irreplaceable, and it feels to me that by waiting until next year to replace him it would just be us delaying the inevitable if as you say he won't sign a new contract.

We're supposed to be keeping the team together and building on it. Selling Traore and strengthening Forest seems a bit mental

If we don't get a replacement of equal or higher quality/potential, yes. Otherwise, letting a £20m player walk out the door for free in a year's time is mental.

OR, we got him on a free, and allow him to leave on a free whilst not strengthening a rival. If the club feel £15-£20m is appropriate for replacements, then so be it. Not everything is strictly about that balance sheet and pushing value up. Its about what makes most sense to the team. I just don't see it personally.

Mixed emotions about possible Traore departure.  Have always liked this player, and was glad to see him in a FFC shirt.  Yes, clearly not a very good finisher.  I always held out hope he could score some goals when given the chance, but has not really panned out, although did produce some nice assists last season in key situations.

The man is a bull, athletic, pacey moving forward, and can beat a defender 1 v 1.  And does create some space for others.  But his value is when he has chance to move forward at pace with the ball.  In our slower build up type of play, he seldom does get a chance to move forward with pace.

I will say this, and I've posted this before, I think if he had scored a goal or two in that first game v City last season (he had several clear great chances, basically sitters) and had we won or drawn that game, his season could have been totally different, and the confidence from such an achievement could have carried him a long way.  JMHO

Anyway, would like to see him stay, but wouldn't be heart broken if he left....

I get your point, but sadly in the world of PSR it very much is about the balance sheet/income statement, so a sale would give us a good bit of leeway to spend and renew the squad, which we do need. If it was the case that Traore would be the difference between us qualifying/not qualifying for Europe (which would see us bring in more money) then fair enough, but personally I don't think he is.

But then again, we aren't in desperate need of funds to settle PSR so its not really that straight forward. And I do think Adama is key to those sorts of ambitions ie europe. His ability to scare and garner points out of top 6 clubs is really important to us. He does provide more as well, but he's a massive driver of our threat against the likes of City and Arsenal.

He'd still be strengthening a rival when he leaves on a free in your scenario though?

I'd say if it is a £15 million plus fee you cash in and get a replacement. He is a high earner so it would free up a lot of space there too.
