If we don't get a replacement of equal or higher quality/potential, yes. Otherwise, letting a £20m player walk out the door for free in a year's time is mental.

OR, we got him on a free, and allow him to leave on a free whilst not strengthening a rival. If the club feel £15-£20m is appropriate for replacements, then so be it. Not everything is strictly about that balance sheet and pushing value up. Its about what makes most sense to the team. I just don't see it personally.

He'd still be strengthening a rival when he leaves on a free in your scenario though?

I'd say if it is a £15 million plus fee you cash in and get a replacement. He is a high earner so it would free up a lot of space there too.

Erm, he could easily go play abroad? He's also on estimated 65k a week not not exactly our highest paid player.....

Intriguing, wonder how he's ended up going there. Considering his potential and performances for Canada, I would have hoped to see him go to a club in a better league, or one competing a bit higher up the table.

I get your point, but sadly in the world of PSR it very much is about the balance sheet/income statement, so a sale would give us a good bit of leeway to spend and renew the squad, which we do need. If it was the case that Traore would be the difference between us qualifying/not qualifying for Europe (which would see us bring in more money) then fair enough, but personally I don't think he is.

But then again, we aren't in desperate need of funds to settle PSR so its not really that straight forward. And I do think Adama is key to those sorts of ambitions ie europe. His ability to scare and garner points out of top 6 clubs is really important to us. He does provide more as well, but he's a massive driver of our threat against the likes of City and Arsenal.
I think realistically if we are to make Europe our wingers need to be scoring more than 2 league goals in a season (and for the record, those two goals were against Ipswich and Leicester, not the big clubs).

No one like Leggat

The thing about Adama is, his sheer size and physique frightens the living daylights out of the opposition. That's before you take into consideration his blistering pace. I wouldn't want to see him lining up against us.

I imagine a decent european loan this season for a year of consistent first team mens football, and probably a domestic one next year and then evaluate whether he's ready for the first team here. He's only 19 so as a CB he has plenty of time on his side to get experience

I don't think opposition teams are frightened to death by two league goals in 36 games.

Agreed, was hoping for Championship level or equivalent.

Look, with a statement like that, nothing will change your mind here.

Lets sell him for a massive sum of £15-£20m specifically to save a tonne of funds and apparently, wages, for PSR reasons, and bring in someone, with his skillset, including raw pace for that sum. If Silva and the scouting team are confident, so be it.

He is tied for fifth highest paid player. Earning roughly twice as much as Wilson. At least if we reference the capology numbers you likely used.

Is there any fee where you would sell any player to a perceived rival? Or is just a blank no?

I think he is a good player and an asset to our team, I just don't think he's worth writing off £20m for for the sake of having him for an extra year. If we want to move forward and compete at the higher end of the league we should be looking to upgrade on 2 goals a season, especially if we're being offered a decent amount of money.

No, I'd sell, I just don't know about this specific deal and Adama. He just has a very, very unique skill set that I'm not entirely convinced is easily replaceable.

Worth mentioning that the players we have sold to rivals in the last decade or so haven't exactly come back to bite us (McCormack, Carvalho, Sessegnon, Aluko, Malone).

Neutral Zone Ultra - Didn't want to quote clog, I mentioned previously that £20m+ I think we'd find hard to turn down....but I also don't think its a no brainer. Keeping a player we paid nothing for, who is extremely useful for our squad (aside from his low goals tally), and passing on to specifically Forest, a team who literally only play counter football....feels like he would be uniquely good for them, who are a rival, feels like a risk to me.

Of course it's a risk, and I don't think it's a no brainer. Ideally he'd have another couple of years on his contract, in which case I'd be a hell of a lot more resistant to offloading him. In an ideal world, we'll get a club from abroad come in for him (which I assume you'd be much more comfortable with?)

Honestly no. The rival part is only part of it. I'm not confidant we'll attract a player of the same skillset for the allocated price. That's just my opinion. Players mentioned, and Timo Werner seems one of the best suited.....which says a lot.

Not sure why you are throwing in transfer fee here when talking about wages. When it comes to amortised cost it is relevant, but if anything it is a further argument as to why Traore is a good player to sell as he has high wages and no amortised cost that would hit this window.

If you're talking about Traore being a better signing than Wilson, then whatever, but that isn't really the point.

in less games Werners scored 88 more goals then Adama, i mean we ight get someone else but for plaers linked to and pocket some money for other positions

You well know when players are signing contracts, players wages and sign on fee's are higher when signing without a transfer fee. That would be why. Seem you added the Wilson bit, and no, im not trying to ascribe value. I'm just saying £65k a week isn't a high amount for us and somethign we'd be desperate to offload on, as was the suggestion with PSR.
