Intriguing, wonder how he's ended up going there. Considering his potential and performances for Canada, I would have hoped to see him go to a club in a better league, or one competing a bit higher up the table.
Nothing strange about it. He has basically zero experience from senior football, only some international caps for Canada. Belgian League is actually quite good so no chance that a top 3 side would give him game time. Mid table club is perfect for him as playing time is key

Traore offers us something no one else in the squad does. I'd honestly be disappointed if we sell him to Forest.

Napoli supposed to be looking at Sterling if they lose out on Ndoye, who Forest seem to be currently signing.

Just to add to the Adama discussions that skysports quoted saying La Liga clubs also made enquiries for him. Maybe there is more to this.

Suppose much will hinge on wether we have offered him a contract extension and wether he has indicated he's not that interested in signing it at this stage.

I would MUCH prefer a £20m move to la liga than I would to Forest specifically IF we decide to sell. But that said, I think Adama is massively underated by a fair subset of fans herem as I've said many times here before. He's a threat beyond pace alone and quoting 2 goals ignores the 7 assists when not always a starter (due to Wilsons incredible form.) And frankly I recall saying a number of times last year he should have had a fair few more assists if it weren't for a other players missing very good chances he set up. Fine margins

9 G/A's isn't to be sniffed at when added to the unique threat of pace and strength on the counter which we severely lack without him in the team, which is why I would always prefer to keep someone like Adama around. He was also statistically one of the best crossers at the club too last year, He has the ability to turn a game around in an instant and create space due to the attention he gets. He's not completely irreplaceable, no one is, and 20m is a decent price if attainable, but he's an under appreciated talent imo and I wouldn't sell him Forest personally at that price.

4 goals in 59 games simply isn't good enough. If we only play one striker then there must be goals from midfield and wide players. Our midfield players don't score many so it's important the wide players do. Iwobi and Wilson are important contributors. Traore for all his pace just doesn't contribute goals.

We can do better.

Quote from: Super Mick on July 28, 2025, 04:13:42 PMWe're supposed to be keeping the team together and building on it. Selling Traore and strengthening Forest seems a bit mental
If we don't get a replacement of equal or higher quality/potential, yes. Otherwise, letting a £20m player walk out the door for free in a year's time is mental.

OR, we got him on a free, and allow him to leave on a free whilst not strengthening a rival. If the club feel £15-£20m is appropriate for replacements, then so be it. Not everything is strictly about that balance sheet and pushing value up. Its about what makes most sense to the team. I just don't see it personally.
I get your point, but sadly in the world of PSR it very much is about the balance sheet/income statement, so a sale would give us a good bit of leeway to spend and renew the squad, which we do need. If it was the case that Traore would be the difference between us qualifying/not qualifying for Europe (which would see us bring in more money) then fair enough, but personally I don't think he is.

But then again, we aren't in desperate need of funds to settle PSR so its not really that straight forward. And I do think Adama is key to those sorts of ambitions ie europe. His ability to scare and garner points out of top 6 clubs is really important to us. He does provide more as well, but he's a massive driver of our threat against the likes of City and Arsenal.

I think we may be closer to the top of our budget than we realize. Very few subtractions from last year's squad, talk of loan to buy options instead of straight purchases. Feels more like a team on a small budget for this season until next yr when many guys are coming off or down on the books.

Always felt like a sale of Wilson, Diop, AP, or Adama may be needed to finance transfers this yr.

10 g/a in 19 games last season suggests you're wrong, and it was even mentioned in the club announcement of taking up the option in his contract.

Why do some people continue to mention how many goals Adama has scored and completely ignore his high assist number? He's an old school type of winger, i.e. his usual play style involes beating his man and crossing the ball. He usually stays wide. Someone like Wilson on the other hand, is a different type of winger. He is someone who'll move central at times, and someone who constantly tries to find pockets of space. He also crosses the ball less, but takes shots from distance. I'd expect an Adama type winger to have a lot of assists and not many goals. I'd expect a Wilson type of winger to have more goals than he has assists. It's good to have both types of wingers.

As for the sale of Adama, I believe he only has one year left of his contract. I'd definitely offer him a new contract. And I'd also keep him even if he doesn't want to sign it, unless we get some really big offer(20+ million), then I think we probably need to sell(but like I said, only if he doesn't want to renew and we get a huge offer),imo.

Adama directly contributed to 9(10 if you count his assist to Raul towards the end of the season which was not officially registered as an assist) goals last season, which is more than Wilson(7). In fact, only Iwobi(15), Raul(15) and Robinson(10) had more direct goal contributions last season, so your statement is factually wrong.

Quote from: ffc_forever on July 27, 2025, 05:48:34 PMLast week people on here were moaning that we needed more friendlies to build match sharpness and get ready for the season. Well we've had 3 preseason games and Muniz produces a performance like that. Honestly the MJ statue moved more than him. He looked like a player that had been told "your off to Yorkshire"

Yes it's only a friendly and it's in the league that matters as mentioned above but I just expected more from someone who is so highly valued. He just didn't stand out as anything special.
It's pre-season, you'll always have some poor games and some good games. The main thing is to get your fitness levels up. He literally scored in of those three games already.

Neutral Zone Ultra

The key selling point for Traore is his pace and power. He is turning 30 in January, which yes is still prime years for most players, but it's a fact that players begin to lose their edge in terms of physical attributes as they enter their thirties (and therefore have to rely on their technical ability to stay at the top level, as Willian did for us in his first season). I don't think Traore has that to fall back on.

I'd be disappointed if we sold Adama but can understand that he's reaching past his peak performance and if we are to cash in it would be now.

I don't necessarily dispute this but no idea how it could be true. Net spend in the previous two seasons has been meagre, and we've one of the lowest value squads in the league (sat equidistant between Brentford and Leeds, according to Transfermarkt).

Disagree re peak performance, respectfully.

With the pace and strength adama has he could quite easily downgrade considerably and still prove an asset at PL level and one of the top performers in both categories.

This is someone who had walker for pace not too long ago.

Now you can say walker was going downhill, but even then it added years onto his career at man city alone.

And he's still played for AC Milan and is now playing PL football at Burnley, so can still do a job in the league.

Adama got 10 g/a in 19 games last season, he's far from done and arguably we all think he could get better.

For what it's worth, we've also seen him improve and be more measured since he's been with us. Which shows he's happy to develop still and improve.

Has to be a fake quote, they are the ultimate example of how a team recruits and must be mimicked according to some.

Agreed. Complete speculation on my part as I have no way of knowing how the club write down certain costs.

By my estimation the club have only removed Vini, Willian, and Nelson while likely writing down Wilson (if they don't extend him with a raise). Otherwise everything is the same with raises for Tete, King, maybe TC, maybe Muniz and maybe Wilson. Plus they want to bring back Nelson at probably the same cost.

Feels like there needs to be a transfer to fund much more in purchases.

Who knows though. The club may end up spending 60 million on transfers by the end of the month without anyone outgoing.

Guess, being Canadian, he also speaks French...
