Summer Silly Season Transfer Thread 2025

It all just feels a little safe does it not? Don't get me wrong, I do 'get' it, we're stable, we're okay, but Nelson, Chukweze, Sterling, Dewsbury-Hall? Just doesn't have me excited for next season personally.

To use a horse racing analogy, none of our targets are lightly raced unexposed could be anything types, instead they're all tried and tested over course and distance, solid performers in handicaps but no fireworks

so to use your horse racing terminology as Marco said we are not looking to win but be placed. If these players can get us European football for a couple of seasons then maybe we can then attract the next level players.

I don't see King as a winger he's a central player and Smith-Rowe an attacking midfielder that favours the left.

Respectfully disagree on this point - ESR played his best football for Arsenal as a left forward cutting in, plus he played well there for us yesterday. I actually think it suits him more than the 10. role as he can go missing in the middle - being left would actually get him on the ball more with the way we play so think it would suit him better.

I can accept King may be better central but he played well and scored on the right last night. He's got the game to play centrally or wide. Certainly not a square peg in a round hole playing wide as he has the ability to take defenders on/go inside or out and pick a pass.

As I say, if we bring in 2 more wingers they need to be a clear improvement on the guys here or what's the point? Agree that it's likely to be 2 rather than 3 - 3 is massive overkill at the expense of strengthening other key areas.

I envy those who are good at keeping out of it and just waiting til deals done are announced.

I seriously want to just sack off coming on here and X as just like frigging Chinese water torture and a complete waste of time.

Never going to happen however. Like the frigging itch that you know you shouldn't scratch but just can't help it. 

It's like an addiction... self inflicted but nothing you can do about it 😱😱
Then as soon as we sign someone, it all starts again... people arguing the new player is excellent/rubbish... too old/ too young ... can't play on LW/ CM... cost too much / too cheap, must be crap ... ex team sorry to see him go/ couldn't wait to get rid...
..and we get to 200 pages with little gained

Tabby, aren't ESR and Bassey prime examples of exciting players who showed potential but peated out a bit so we're rekindling as well though? or was that your point?

With a lot of our current targets we are talking about 'what if we can get them back to their form from a couple of years ago' instead of looking at their future. Isak cost Newcastle a bit more than £15m. He was a regular at his club, Real Sociedad and cost £63m.

They're supposed to be signing more than one winger, it has never been posed as an either or.

Who do you expect us to sign? We are not Real Madrid
They are all good players for a club like us

Yeah Ndoye sounds like it's been pretty much done for the last week and Adama only came up the other day. Report I read a few days ago said they wanted both so doubt they are connected.

Fair enough, was sure what id read said differently but could be the case ...seems to me theyre in far more need of an LW than an RW though. They only have CHO as an out and out LW on their books ATM.

Unless they do sell Jota Silva they seem to have more options now at RW than left
