Same issue as Sterling. For all the concern over SCR, neither player makes any sense financially.

If SCR concerns are correct and current rules aren't an issue either would be fine on a one year loan.  ::thumb::
True, but it looks likely that Chelsea and City want rid of them permanently so can't see them agreeing a loan.

Sterling & Grealish, please no!

On their day both match winners but well past their best now.
Would be a drain on funds and not offer much to the team IMO.

My opinion of them is probably affected by the fact I've always disliked both of them for some reason.

Loan or permanent, money better spent elsewhere!

Think that's why nothing is happening until late. If no one takes them they'll have to loan to at least get what they can off the books. Highly unlikely anyone takes Sterling permanently because of the wage and poor performance last season you'd imagine so Chelsea may well be forced into a loan. Certainly can't see anyone paying a fee for him on top of that salary. Could see us getting him around the end of the window but if West Ham are genuinely interested he could end up there. No links to Grealish as far as I'm aware and you'd think he'd want to aim higher than us. Sterling may need to drop down after Arsenal and apparently wants to stay in London so you'd guess far more likely.

Potentially we could become the "remainder book library "of the Premier League.

£25m rising to £29m feels like good business for them. Not convinced by him personally but do feel like he could of potentially added to our squad depth.

Pity ...
I do get it, he was great for Leicester, but very few were overly excited by signing him....until we weren't. A good player but not sure he would have been my first choice to add to our midfield. I hate to say it but at times moses caicedo (?) looked good for that lot up the road last season.

I was kinda hoping it would come off for us but not too fussed either way. He's definitely a player MS could have improved though and thus improved the team. Didn't really get a shot at Walham Green due to who was in front of him there.

vancouver

An aging squad and zero investment.

Still could get a mega money last minute move made for Muniz, or Robinson.

This kind of complacency is how you get relegated.

Man, its really boring this narrative. Relegation odds are around 12/1. Go lump on if you honestly think we'll be relegated.

It's a lot of money for someone who has never scored and assisted a lot in the prem and that is what we need from this new 8. He could potentially do in the right team as he record in the championship was ridiculous.

I did however read the Leicester forum a week or two ago as they were rumoured to loan him back last Jan and at the time they were questioning if he could do it in the prem and many were saying what they had last year was better than him in an attacking sense!! They are well placed to know watching him week in week out for years of course.

One thing everyone said is he's an ultimate professional and tries his heart out which is of course great but for £30m is he going to be productive enough going forward at this level as tgat is what we are desperate for?

Guess Everton will find out but there was definitely a risk that he could have ended up being a bit underwhelming for the fee. Let's hope so now eh!!

I feel the same. Also, not at all a priority position for us, as our midfield is stacked at the moment. Only likely to sign someone if Pereira leaves - which seemed fairly certain in May, but much less certain now. Even Reed is still with us, so I just cannot see the justification in spending £25m plus on a midfielder. KDH arguably improves the first eleven, but I want King to see a lot of minutes this season and any more signings in the middle of the park would affect that.

If the club are worried about this SCR rule coming in, why did Marco say we were looking to bring in additional players, and why did we extend Cairneys contract, as bet he is on good wages, but will probably only play bit part rule.

he's on £30k a week (estimated) so perfect for SCR. Much like Muniz currently on £7.5k a week.....to get players are these qualities costs a lot more to replace.

SCR wouldn't start until next year so TC only having a 1 year contract has no effect on it. We have plenty of head room under the current PSR rules but are playing it safe with regards to SCR next year even though there is a chance they don't even come in. That's why most of our offers are loans with options. We can take on plenty for this year but committing to anything beyond this year is potentially problematic.

Was never going to happen here, not just because we don't sign players, but because he covers the same areas of the pitch when attacking as ESR. Centre left and left wing.

Cairney is this year not next when the new rules are predicted to come in so he doesn't affect it as long as we don't renew him next year.

Similarly could be why by all accounts why we are looking for 1 year loans rather than perms.

Could all be a red herring anyway as no one knows for sure but it is just an educated guess for why everything we are looking to do seems short term.

In all likelihood even if it is SCR that is on the mind we'll have to spend on some players to fill position and kick the problem down the road. If it is an issue you'd imagine lower cost ones like Chuckwuaze or Romulo rather than £30m signings and overall spend maybe £40m rather than £80m with some loans on top.

If we go and make £30m signings and spend £80m+ in the next 3 weeks clearly SCR isn't their concern at least this year. Not liking likely at the moment but this is Fulham late in the window so who knows.

Also a very good point. Could keep him next year as incredibly low cost (if he still had the legs for it)!
