Whether one is fuming at the lack of signings or otherwise surely nothing to do with this as all reports are that we are in for a CM, winger or two and 3rd striker. No mention of left back in that list. We have two and unfortunately they are the only two injured players in the squad (if Sess is indeed injured). We have multiple options at lefts back with Bassey, Cuenca and Timmy C who plays there regularly for Belgium I believe. My guess is Timmy C if Sess is out.

Yeah, we are down to 3 senior players that are used to covering a position (Cuenca, Bassey, Castagne) after the two first choices are out. Clearly a lack of coverage.

I'm not sure how you figure how we will fit at least 3 dedicated players for every position with a 25 man squad, but those are just petty details I'm sure.

We need two players for every position and at left back we have two and there are no reports we are looking to recruit another. We have plenty of options at left back. Is Afcon in August? Everyone is frustrated it's taking so long and no one is saying we don't need a CM, couple of wingers and a new striker but the fact is two injuries at left back and Afcon at this point in the season has nothing to do with it?

Who told you that? All people keep on saying is that Silva is going to walk which is why the owners aren't spending because a new coach will want to play his own style. Love the pre season confusion.

Can you quote anyone who suggested we don't need anyone? I think the point people like myself made was, this squad isn't in 'urgent' need of players early in window compared to say, clubs who have lost 2-5+ players or recently promoted sides who are lumbered with largely below par squad players.

I think this whole 'we tried to tell you so' chat is just ill placed and a knee jerk reaction to Robinson today announced slightly delayed recovery, and Sess coming off injured. We all know players are incoming, sooner the better, sure, but let's not pretend anyone was saying 'no need players please, no need to improve' as it's just moving the goal posts to suit an agenda.

We have 2 LBs. They are both injured. Should we have 3? What happens if they get injured too. Should we have 4?

Ok, jokes and snipes aside, surely we can agree the increased negativity (which I've noticed too, not only from me but also others) is at least in part because this window is going worse than we expected, even versus a few weeks ago when i assume even you expected at least a couple more decent signings by now.

Yeh I agree with you there pal. Even if I thought urgency wasn't as key as say you do, we can agree as Jay said that virtually everyone would agree signings would of been better had they been done now and the longer it goes the more the frustrations grow.

I've not interpreted any of Jay's posts as "nothing to see here". Quite the opposite, in fact, as he's consistently posted about the positions and players he'd ideally like to see upgraded / recruited.

Saying you wish it had happened and that you're frustrated it hasn't doesn't suddenly mean he doesn't understand the game still , frustrated with it or not. Life is full of nuance and duality

Marco has always said such statements, I'm completely unsuprised that's his position, I'm sure id feel the same if I was a manager.

Bored of the sniping and seemingly deliberate mis-characterisations like many others it seems.
 This has been a deeply unpleasant place to converse this summer at times.

As 1987 says , I've clearly said even I would like those players in early where possible given a choice, and yeh I'd have liked another in the door by now. But my position remains it's not worth the relentless overboard stuff on here all day every day justifying why everything is awful . I'm as ever mostly more concerned with how we look come September 1st and , as always will make my assessment of the window then, as I think we have a very capabale starting point squad wise - that yes, needs some key additions for depth of quality, as everyone agrees

If we do have major injury concerns then that's another matter regarding upping urgency. But we're not gonna buy another LB seemingly so unless it's zinchenko we're gonna be in the same position come september as we are next week regarding LB.

Anyway, addressing your and Hatch's posts, I think there's a difference between "hoped we could strengthen" (you) and "we expected much more" (Silva), not least because i've familiarity with the dictionary, and the different meanings of "hope" or aspiration, versus "expectation".
