Imagine us leaving the Nelson discussions, trying to play hardball with Arsenal and placing a bid for Kevin, which is immediately rejected and the Brazilian himself isnt interested in coming here - and now we return to the table with Arsenal.

What have we achieved here, exactly? Other than the fact that we are now in a much worse position in this negotiation.

And our weird strategy of just bidding for random players need to stop. We did the same with Samuele Ricci last summer. One bid. Rejected. And we went for someone else. Reeks of desperation and lack of strategy

Reports are that Kevin wasn't keen on joining us; likewise with Cherki and Nuamah last summer. Surprised we would place these bids without knowing the player is keen on the move.

Find @Fulhamtransfers medal system a bit arbitrary. Sam Wallace is one of the most reputed journalists out there. He's reporting we're interested in Elliott. Would be a great move in my opinion if we can move on AP.

Please Fulham
Just go get Romolu Cardoso, 23M plus add ons should do it.
Big strong CF 23 years old and great scoring record.

Mitrovic - no thanks
Zinchenko - no thanks
Nelson - meh
Elliott - yes
Romulu - yes
Kevin - no thanks (injured)
Sterling - no thanks
Hojilund - yes
Taremi - no thanks

Sessegnon - at LB.  I used to dismiss this idea, felt he was more valuable in a more forward role.  However, his last couple outings at LB were fairly good.  So, I guess, in a pinch, assuming Robinson unavailable, he could fit there, though we do have other 'in a pinch' options.

So everyone moans that we are not ambitious and we go for ambitious targets who don't want to come and every moans that we've tried?

End of the day this is reporters saying he doesn't want to come but no one knows that for sure as reporters clearly know F all as per the million false rumours this summer. Maybe he just prefers Napoli over us. What a surprise. If Napoli don't get him maybe we do late in the window like Berge when Man U went for Ugarte in the end. But that requires waiting...more moaning.

 :slap:

I am of course extremely frustrated as well. End of the day no one has a clue what is going on with these deals but that was an exciting bid and personally glad we at least seem to have tried. Cherki and McTominay became world beaters last year so at least looks like we are going for the right players. Can't help it if we are too small and they don't want to come...that is clearly a reason it appears to be so difficult to upgrade what we have but looks like we are hoping that a few of these players become available available later on. They do come off sometimes so you have to try...still not sure how we managed to get JP but seems the rest of Europe were blind to it at the time.

This comment isn't that though, let's try not find a way to fabricate another argument on this most tiresome of threads. It's just that typically clubs only put in offers with knowledge club wants to join.

It's tough being a club of our standing, we're not going to match the pull of a side competing for leagues and in Champions League, and not like we can just reach for the stars. The Premier League is a pull for sure, but playing for a club with history and glamour, and Champions League is typically going to outstrip it.

Yeah fair play mate. Sorry realised I responded to your post which wasn't a moan at all but felt like the first one was a bit which is what I meant to respond to. End of the day everyone is just frustrated and fed up but that bid was the most exciting thing in months for me!

Quote from: hopper on August 10, 2025, 01:41:09 PMAnyone else feel that we may actually not end up signing Reiss Nelson? This saga is beginning to feel more and more like the Hudson Odoi one. If Arsenal want a permanent deal and we're not willing, wouldn't surprise me if another club came along late in the window and offered him a deal. Could imagine Brentford or Sunderland coming in with a permanent offer.

Yeah I'm getting Hudson Odoi vibes as well...was thinking that earlier. Reports were MS never really wanted Hudson Odoi but he does seem to want Nelson. Clearly looks like we are not accepting anything perm so unless Arsenal cave it's getting to the point you can see if falling through. To be fair if another club come in and want to take that massive risk that's up to them. Much as I'd love Nelson back don't think we should. If he then stayed fit and had a stormer for them it would be extremely annoying but no one has a crystal ball and just too big a risk to take. We'll see.

What makes you think we ever left the table.

You do know that most of this is all made up. The Nelson thing seems at best a back burner signing in case we couldn't get who we wanted. The other names mentioned I very much doubt we would spend that sort of money on players like that.

So it is all fun but the pages of discussion saying how shocking it is we should go for such and such and whatsit and whatshisface. Yet not get thingy who doesn't want to come anyway as his Mother had a bad experience in Putney High Street when she was looking for knitting patterns.

I can guarantee most of it is rubbish. Except for the knitting pattern thing. I have that on good authority.
The above IS NOT A LEGAL DOCUMENT. It is an opinion.

We may yet hear the horse talk.

I can stand my own despair but not others hope

WindyCity

Why all the chinwagging over Nelson?  Like most all other players we've been linked with, would be an underwhelming signing anyway.  And really nothing more than a re-signing of an existing player.  Nothing to get all champed up about, IMHO.  Doesn't seem Arsenal rates him, whether he comes back to FFC or not, no big deal.....

Yep all from journos who either have an agenda half the time or simply don't have a clue and we all get our knickers in a twist about it all. It's silly season madness and it's been next to no fun this year.  ::cry::

Let's pray that the next few weeks holds better for us all. Prob be players we haven't even heard of being interested in.

Many (including Silva by all accounts) think he can be a brilliant player for us if he stays fit. His stats are impressive as were some of his limited appearances last year. His stats are actually very similar to Kevin who would cost more than double and Nelson's are based on the prem. He's just what we need in that he's a player with pace who can take folk on. Arsenal fans are currently saying he's the best left winger they have on limited pre season performances. Each to their own of course but think there are plenty who would be excited to have him back on the right deal.  ::thumb::

Prob just means Kevin is off to Napoli of course but you just never know. We should have just signed this guy anyway instead as if Shaktar have he'll clearly be worth £50m+ in two years  ::cry::

My predictions: we won't sign any more until deadline day and it'll be two loan moves. We then spend the entirety of the season flirting with relegation because we didn't improve and we lose Marco.

In the interesting that we'll be inevitably linked with him in two windows time offering 1/3 of his valuation or a cheeky loan with an option?
