I guess he's better than Vini as third choice, but we'd have two old strikers on our books and this just kicks the can down the road a year when we'll need two/three strikers if we lose Muniz. Does bring ambition into question, unless we're going to put our entire budget into one winger which feels misguided

Let's face it - the last few years that there have been persistent rumours about a player leaving it's happened. So we should all prepare ourselves for Muniz moving on. Shame - I'd have liked him to become a star with us.

I would be fine to swap Muniz for Mitro+£40m. Seems like an amazing upgrade tbh.

Taremi is too old and past it now. We need to invest in someone younger (like Romulo/Pepi).

I remember the days when this board though Lookman was clueless... then he went on to win the Europa League for his team with a hattrick in the final... and he showed less potential/quality than Muniz did. How we'd give to have Lookman now.

Same scenario as Muniz.  I don't really know what forum fans want.  We have a guy like Muniz, still very young, just now coming into prime years, has PL experience.  I think this is exactly the type of striker many here looking for.  Big mistake to let Muniz go, IMHO.  Hope all this posturing is Muniz agent looking for bigger paycheck.  Yes, I know Muniz isn't the 'finished product' just yet, but certainly that potential is there.  Big miss if FFC loses Muniz.

Could it be the offer of new contract is not what player or agent fill is appropriate? Well certainly the agent! Muniz will be aware of other packages being offered if he were to leave. Fulham should have seen this coming a very long time ago and tied him to longer deal last season if they thought he was a rare gem?

The one thing that gives me hope amongst the Muniz chatter is the Palhinha case in 2023. The player wanted the move (as reported now with Muniz) but it fell through because we were adamant about not having a replacement. He then signed a new (and deserved) contract.

If we can manage the same with Muniz (arguing the strikers market is garbage right now and we can't reasonably find a decent starting replacement) and then finally give him that consistent starting spot, it could really work for all parties.

Also, he seems like a very likeable, committed character so I'd hope he wouldn't go full Mitro.

It's about the only hope I'm clinging to right now because I'd personally be very underwhelmed with Muniz out and Terami and even Cardoso in as the replacements.

Mitro, Raul and Romulo for only the cost of £20m on Romulo.

If it then freed up cash for Kevin plus an unbelievable 8 (perhaps Luiz) and another top winger.

I'd defo take that. Still think there would be plenty of goals in Mitro for another few years. Don't think it would take more than a month or two to get fit again. Considering the complete lack of striker options out there could do a lot worse.

In the ongoing Serie A transfer standoff between Atalanta and Inter, Lookman is forcing a move to Inter (he's actually in London training alone and is refusing to return to Atalanta) Inter have called off the deal and Atalanta are standing firm on a €50m price tag. But if this deal goes through, will Muniz be on his way?

Muniz would be replacing Retegui, a striker, not Lookman, so that would have no bearing on things. They got €65m for Retegui so plenty of dosh to fork out for Muniz.

Would take the €65M from them then for Muniz, no less

He isn't even guaranteed a start at Fulham. €65m?

Why should FFC take anything than maximum we can, they have that cash, they want him, they should pay

Quality-wise, maybe we'd be okay with Raul, Taremi and Mitro.

However, we'd end the season with three strikers aged 34, 33 and 31 respectively. Not an ideal scenario for various reasons.

If we lose Muniz, I sincerely hope we find someone who's under 25 (and ideally under 23) so there's some long-term plan.

Quality-wise, maybe we'd be okay with Raul, Taremi and Mitro.

However, we'd end the season with three strikers aged 34, 33 and 31 respectively. Not an ideal scenario for various reasons.

If we ended up with those as the front three options, I don't know how we couldn't compare it to the later previous owner years with short term, old contracts replacing young(er) talents.

I can't imagine this scenario or accept it as acceptable from the club to be honest....

I would be stunned if we somehow ended up with 3 high profile strikers at once at the club for one position.

I really don't want to see us replace Muniz with someone much older. He brings a dynamism and unpredictability up top I'm not sure Taremi could provide.

Imagine Mitro will come back to the PL at somewhere like Everton. Would prefer it if he went to Serie A and became a cult hero there.

Exactly. You'll see from my earlier posts that I want him to stay.

He joined pre-23, has acclimatised to the league, and is now ready to become first choice here.

If we sell him for a big profit, which wouldn't be an awful outcome for a club like us, then I hope we recreate the formula and get another youngster in.

We need a third striker, and Mitro would be a great option to help train up a new youngster and lead the line whilst Raul enters (most likely) his final year with us.

However, bringing in two new strikers over 30 would be a huge mistake IMO. And I agree with FFC1987 that it'd have a flavour of our pre-relegation years, with over-reliance on aging and expensive players... that trend needs to be broken.
