Quote from: v on August 12, 2025, 02:31:42 AMIn the ongoing Serie A transfer standoff between Atalanta and Inter, Lookman is forcing a move to Inter (he's actually in London training alone and is refusing to return to Atalanta) Inter have called off the deal and Atalanta are standing firm on a €50m price tag. But if this deal goes through, will Muniz be on his way?

Muniz would be replacing Retegui, a striker, not Lookman, so that would have no bearing on things. They got €65m for Retegui so plenty of dosh to fork out for Muniz.

Would take the €65M from them then for Muniz, no less

He isn't even guaranteed a start at Fulham. €65m?
Why should FFC take anything than maximum we can, they have that cash, they want him, they should pay

I didn't say they shouldn't get the maximum they can. What I am suggesting is asking for €65m for a striker that has never scored double digits and isn't even a guaranteed starter is a touch fanciful.

We are also right up against SCR which is currently running at over 110%. We have to sell.

You know that for sure regarding SCR which isn't even in place? I doubt what you have written is quite right

Quote from: Twig on August 12, 2025, 03:59:10 PMIt's a big no to Mitro from me. Not just because of the way he left but for footballing reasons too.
Agree. "We are not a train station".

Except for if your name is Willian.
Indeed, and one of my many annoyances with his return in January.

itombomb

I want to keep Muniz and for him to score a load of goals for us, but £45m is a lot of money if it were on the table (and worth thinking about things in an SCR context where to keep him around you're talking probably a £70-80K a week contract for 4+ years).

Realistically his value will only go up from here IF he were to score 12+ goals this season, and that is quite a big IF.

If he goes I'll be disappointed, but if he goes and we were to bring in Romulo, Kevin and Nelson, I think we're probably better off.

If he goes and we bring in Taremi and sign Willian on deadline day again, I'll be slightly devastated.

I'm with you until the final sentence, "slightly devastated"? I'd be well and truly devastated, gutted and kippered!

It would be a disgrace is what it would be.

demeant0r

You guys would be devastated but at this stage, having only made one signing with £500k, I would just be happy if we signed a 42 year old Clint Dempsey.

This new SCR has not started yet so this season can't make a problem next season.

Fulham Tup North

I am struggling to understand all of this concern over SCR, when it does not come into force until earliest 2026/27 season, in which case it will not take affect until 2027/28.
And even then it only applies if a club spends more than 85% of their revenue- currently we are allegedly running at 110%.
So simply increase revenue... which if we have a better squad means potentially qualifying for Europe which guarantees quite a few £m additional funding.  Plus we can increase our shirt sponsor revenue due to being in Europe... and we will have more home games... all of this is assuming that SCR is actually implemented... which it won't be if just one of the 'Top 6' don't want it...
It's becoming an excuse to not invest... another myth...

The rumours are they are offering 40 million Euros which is around 34 million pounds plus we have to give Flamenco 20% so  we would get around 25 million for him 55 million Euros or piss off would be my response.

Bassey the warrior

Given all the noise re Muniz leaving is coming from Italian sources, I wouldn't be surprised if it's Atalanta putting the story out to their contacts in the media.

If there was anything substantial to it then there would surely be British sources confirming. Maybe I'm deluding myself though.

And therein lies the issue. I know it was meant in jest, but we should only want players that will improve the same side (minus benda, plus a fitter tete/jedi and a sharper esr/sess).
Just getting bodies in the door is what many seem to be clamouring for.

SCR hasn't even been formally defined yet, let alone brought into force.

Our issues this summer, whatever they are, are not related to SCR.

If the window closed now, with just lecomte in and an unhappy Muniz staying and no further signings would there be anyone saying we've had anything better than a substandard window?

I know they won't, but I would want some form of explanation from the club as to wtf is going on with our finances and why we did nothing, because it doesn't make sense, and Marco would no doubt walk at the end of the season leaving us in more of a mess then we are now.

The shortsightedness cannot be overstated. Also the inability to identify targets before the window and act decisively and be able to scout young talent overseas with huge resale potential like Brighton and Bournemouth have done. Our transfer policy is really poor.

Quite correct. Not in place yet. Difficult to be certain and I'm neither a financial expert or have any link to the club but those that are and have looked at the club accounts reckon we are currently way over it. By some margin. Sales are inevitable. There's also a train of thought that we would have failed PSR but for the Mitro sale.

Struggling with SCR would certainly explain the club's reticence to get heavily involved in the transfer market.

This.

Similarly if it ends along the lines of losing Muniz and just acquiring Taremi and Nelson, I'd say the same applies.

And last week you would have said there are still 4 weeks and prior to that.....etc. Fact remains the clock continues to tick down. I'm not saying we won't make signings but man are we leaving it late to get started!
