Mitro coming back? Who would welcome him? I  would.

Me too BUT not at the expense of Muniz's chances here. We all know if Mitro came back he'd be an automatic starter, so if he came back we'd have three strikers vying to be an automatic starter. Which, for the club is great but it's bound to upset at least one of them.

Unless the idea of bringing back Mitro is to start with two strikers.

Don't think it'd happen unless we sell Muniz. All three were intended to be here before he went to Saudi, but his bumped wages and Muniz developing from not getting playing time at Boro to getting £30+ million bids on him changes things a bit.

Mozzartsport is one of the most reliable sports media in Serbia (arguably even the most reliable). I think there's some truth in those rumours.

Just to give you a rough idea of what kind of offers Serbian teams accept, Lukic was sold for something like 1.5 million euros. Mitro, who won u19 Euro with Serbia and was given the player of the tournament award and also had senior caps already went for around 5 million euros. My point is, our clubs tend to sell whenever a semi-decent bid comes in. If we are truly interested in Jovanovic surely we can do better than 250k?
Ridiculous by us, you can't buy an Arsenal or Chelsea women's player for that 🤔

He's a 19 year old youth prospect from a Serbian team being signed presumably for youth development (if true)

For context , they sold another 19 year old striker, vlahovic, to Atlanta 23/24 season for 270k 🤷
They had some money issues at the time, situation is slightly better now. Everyone thought that was way too low at time too + Jovanovic is more talented as well.

In the last few seasons we've regularly produced good strikers and goalkeepers, so I actually think signing someone like him has very little risk, ar worst we'll sell him for a profit.

Whatever people thought about it...the reality is it's not far off a figure they accepted for a player a similar age, position and scoring record in recent years.

When I'm buying a house I make a first offer trying my luck based on what others in the area have gone for, whatever the reason.

No difference here, we've tried our luck. Now if we want to well presumably go back in with another bid. Somewhere between valuations as usual. Over paying (for a Serbian teams 3rd choice striker) is over paying wether 50m range or 500k range, astute business isn't to just hand over more money than you need to straight away just because you can imo. Not like we need the kid in our line up this Sunday and so desperately need this deal done yesterday.

Low balling first offer some times makes the opposing party lower their expectation of the negotiations price ceiling. If we're interested beyond a bargain basement deal well up it. If not we'll move on, hopefully if he's a good pick up we can grab him at a low risk cut price well see.
I don't mind our low balling as much as some do here, but I think there's a difference between low balling and being straight up disrespectful. This is the equivalent of offering, for example, 10-15 million for Kevin. What's the point of putting in a bid that's so far of the selling clubs evaluation.

Setting the frame.

If you go in that level, you can often set the expectation of a lower ceiling to negotiation. If we go in at 1m, they very well might say - no - nothing under 2m (purely for example). Whereas if you go in as we have, you might well pick him up for closer to that just shy of 1m range who knows.

It's a game, and all money saved is money saved. Especially in a business where club record fees are going elswhere reportedly, with that selling club squeezing us high as possible. And as mentioned it's only £20k off of what they sold another striker a similar age for, not long ago. That player had very comparable stats. So regardless of what their situation at the time was, it's not like it's really an absurd completely out-of-pocket suggestion.

Meanwhile Atlanta reportedly offered 25.8m at first for Muniz...that was never getting accepted in a million years either, a silly offer for a young prem striker with his goals to mins ratio. That's the game and many clubs with any sense try their luck. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

Depends on his expectations and attitude. If he's willing to accept a different role and earning a place in the team by merit alone. Sure, if he accepts it's a 3 way battle and he's not a young main man here anymore. Great. If he wants to be the guaranteed main man...well then perhaps it's best we seek other options.

A backward step. We need a third striker certainly but Mitro has moved on and hopefully so have we.
The above IS NOT A LEGAL DOCUMENT. It is an opinion.

We may yet hear the horse talk.

I can stand my own despair but not others hope

I've got a feeling they are going to be very interesting,
As a side this Sunday heralds a new dawn with the Riverside Stand being fully open for the first time, first up Manchester United the biggest club in the world and we can't sell out ! This will be the only time this season that Manchester United play at a ground that isn't sold out, I hate to think of sales in that Riverside Stand when we play Burnley.

Indeed, a dull 0-0 on the cards for the Burnley game.

Says it all doesn't it.

Maybe he's just letting the football people get on with football people stuff.

He's the co-owner of the football club, the statistician behind transfers, and director of Football.. everything implies he has positioned himself to be integral to the football people group operating.

That may well be the case but in this modern day of telephones etc TK doesn't have to be in the country to be aware of what is going on with recruitment. I'm sure MS is involved as much as he needs to be as and when required and the recruitment team are doing all they can to make things happen given whatever financial restraints we are having to work to.

Noones disputing that necessarily, though it definitely helps. It's also important to know that in the 11 days left, of arguably the most important part of the year for his influence on the club, that his attention is on the club and ensuring it's operating properly and succeeding.

The main point was whether he was showing interest in the club or at least in a way which shows some balance re where his priorities lie.

I think it's pretty clear that TKs title of "Director of Football" at Fulham is based on his position in the club hierarchy rather than him being a "footballing person". Which is fine by me as long as we have competent people running the club and the money keeps coming. In fact, it's probably for the better.

Do you not think he had any involvement in the signings of Bassey, Leno, Andersen, ESR, Muniz, Raol, JP etc etc etc. TK doesn't stand on Hackney Marshes scouting players he doesn't need to be in the country to sign players. There is a scouting team who look at players and I'm sure the internet plays a big part in us looking at potential players. It makes no difference where a DoF is based players will be signed and the team will carry on.

I thought I read an article saying he wasn't part of the managers plans so might explain the low offer to test the water. If he was in the squad or a starter then i'm guessing the offer would reflect this.

Based on comments we seem to have offered about a quarter of what the lad is worth. I've no idea if the reports are true but if so, it's more like Atalanta making an opening bid of £8-10m for Muniz. I don't think that resets the frame, it just undermines the offeror's credibility at the outset and for the rest of the negotiations.

Speaking objectively here, Dusan Jovanovic is valued at 500k euros on transfermarkt.com so we went in at roughly half his valuation. Seems fine to me.

It's true. I didn't want to post anything on it to protect the innocent, but now that it's out there I heard at BHA this past weekend someone at an unnamed club in "scouting" said specifically that Mitro wants to come back.

Whether it happens or not I don't know, but if he's keen to make it happen, you would have to think it's a real possibility.

I don't know whether it was in the context of Muniz leaving or not though
