Dunno if this geeza's reliable but suggesting 25m Euros for Chukwueze (£21.6m)

Seems quite steep for a player who's failed to achieve anything of note since villarreal days.

Given we got Andersen who was playing regularly and captaining palace, and berge who was a starter at Burnley, but had also proven himself in the Prem for similar amounts. Seems a tad desperate, as he's clearly not a first choice option.

I wish we went for quality Iver quantity.

I'd much prefer Kevin who's younger and looks exciting and pay a bit more.

I don't get why we'd try for Kevin if we don't have a margin for movement on a signing like him.

They're asking for 50m reportedly. Nearly 30m more than were paying for chuk

We already offered a massive club record 40 allegedly.
There has to be a limit there as he's not the finished article proven in prem etc (and I really like the Kevin signing idea btw,  but accept we've already offered a very good fee)

Also chuk is RW Kevin LW.

....it's reportedly that fee for chuk INCLUDING bonuses as part of a structured deal...so could be were paying signficiantly less up front with performance based addons like most our deals

Muniz looked like a lost sheep Sunday. Is he feeling alone now Brazial mates William has gone and Periera going and that is one reason Kevin is being so heavily touted. If so the club are making a big mistake. Sell Muniz if anybody will actually pay a decent price and buy sensibly in last few days of window.

I highly doubt the club would be willing to pay a club record fee for the sake of giving Muniz a Brazilian mate.

He could go to most beauty parlours if he needs a Brazilian.

We tried for Kevin and apparently offered 40m and Shakhtar want whooping 50m which is insane.

I can only imagine our fanbase if we buy Kevin for 50m and he doesnt hit the ground running from the start.

Still waiting on British sources on this Chukwueze deal. Italian sources have been pretty unreliable for us recently.

Mate, ask Newcastle how hard is to buy a good, proven striker and you want to sell one after the first worse game at the end of the transfer period. SMH

So waiting this long has led to us overpaying significantly for a player Milan are desperate to sell? 26 years old too, in a position of want rather than need.

I am far from convinced that waiting to the last minute works at all.

We were in for a loan before reportedly. Perhaps if we aren't spending that on Kevin we're looking to reallocate those funds for perms elsewhere. They weren't desperate to ship him out... But he was available for a move. Its 23m euros reportedly depending where you look...£19m range

That's around what they paid for him, he's not been terrible there, inconsistant and not hit la liga form but not awful either. Look forward to seeing what Marco can do with him
He's their 2nd or 3rd choice RW on significant wages (per reports). Getting their money back for a not terrible, inconsistent, not awful player is a very good deal for Milan.

All that said, he may be a fine player for us. My point was that we could have done this deal 2-3 months ago at this price.

Agree, this is a deal we could and should have done in January rather than plumping for Willian.

I can only imagine our fanbase if we buy Kevin for 50m and he doesnt hit the ground running from the start.

Is there any rationale to the idea that if you pay 50m for a player, and then they do better or keep their standards in a better league, that their price can only be rationalised up from that price as a base?

If so, yes 50m seems a lot, though perhaps that's the whole package they're looking for, and not necessarily all in one?

But if he performed for us, which I'd argue this squad and Marco could get him firing (even if it took a couple of years - he's still very young), then we could have an asset equal in value at the least, but perhaps even more expensive (say £60-70m?+)... Is there not a case of risk vs reward.

If you buy and he performs, then we get more commercial traction, perhaps a european spot, perhaps he boosts or has the capacity to boost the value of other players (like Muniz), and then we get value from also realising value on the player too.

so, let's say you get

x thousands (10's most realistically) off commercial interest/shirts etc

x million in uptick on players original value if he does well

x million in price premium on other players - let's say ESR, Jimeneze, Muniz, Iwobi as those are the players most likely to benefit from a good players performances.

x million benefits from league position improvement

x million from winning a cup or getting into Europe (more likely)..

If Kevin came, and improved and adapted to the PL

He could quite easily go from a 50m (£40m+) gamble, to reducing the value risk to £20m-£30m, which arbitraged over a long term contract, and presumably a cheaper wage than others given he's a) young, b) Brazilian, and c) been playing in Ukraine, could be amortised relatively easily.

I'm not saying i'm a transfer guru, but are the figures that overwhelming?

Sign him up on a 5-7 year contract to hedge against risks and build commitment into everything?

He's already scored 4 goals in 3 games this season and is 22. His output is strong, and Shakthar is a decent side, who play in Europe.

In addition to this questions need to be asked of us as a club - do we believe Marco and his team can get the best out of Kevin?

Marco has a track record of being able to do that - ESR is looking sharper, Mitro was a different level under Marco, Robinson is one of the best LBs in the league.

Secondly, do we think that he'd gel with the squad and be supported - having a portuguese/spanish speaking contingent in coaches and players - Cuenca, Jimenez, Traore and Muniz, would help to make him feel at home, plus there are some bonafide players in the squad who have top level experience which he could learn off.

I believe in the club (well not the transfer team), the manager, coaches and squad, that should he come it could be worth the outlay and risk.

I'd do it.

The transfer team might redeem themselves a little bit if they land both...

Romano now covering both.. that's the most legitimate this Kevin saga has got for me this whole summer. Let's keep fingers crossed.

Why? Romano was the first one that came out with the Kevin story and had multiple updates on it already.

Holy moly

Would be cooking if we pulled this off, would think this would surely see someone like Adama moved on if la liga teams still interested.

Can Romano drop a mainoo bomb please too,I'll fall off me chair 🤣

He also pretty much said we'd agreed to sell Muniz to the Italians, whilst he gets some right. He does fire out many bogus/bollox tweets too
