Please for the love of god can we move on from Willian now. There are other players in the world that exist.
Don't tell Willian that!!
He's still wearing his Fulham training kit ... fella must be down to his last few £££'s...
Renting in London is crippling him ...  :slap:

The way he said it makes me think it is more than one. He said we are short in certain positions (i.e. more than one), then he says if Andreas leaves it is another position we need to strenghten(which I would think means on top of the positions we already need) and then he mentions the front line (not right winger or left winger or striker, which to me, combined with what I previously wrote in the brackets sounds like more than one player in the "front line"). Maybe I am reading too much into it, but I think it is at least 2 players in the three attacking positions + a midfielder if AP leaves.

Yeh I think he likely means more than one in the front line just pointing out for clarity he didn't specifically say two was all 👍

Bring him on for the last 20-25 mins. He can still do a job. I know he has spoken with the club very recently about a return. As he is on a free we could do it after the window closes. And that's the way the club view it, see how the window plays out,

Fair enough. I can't see us signing 2 midfielders or more than 3 players in total though. Maybe if we sell someone before the window closes.

Why would we pay £100k a week for a 37 year old winger with a grand total of six G/A in the last two years (and zero last season)?

SerbianLad

On Willian, if he's our lowest paid player or close to it, I wouldn't mind it. He would be used only if we get an injury crisis or maybe during AFCON. If he's on high wages, no thanks.

Are we all seriously trying to justify to ourselves the merit of bringing Willian back, desparate times.

@jolslover

If people had to rate Kevin, Chukwueze, Bakwa, Nelson, Sterling from who you most want to who you least want what order would you put them in?  for me below

Kevin, Bakwa, Chukwueze, Nelson, Sterling

Last three all pretty close though, but Kevin and Bakwa would be my two favourites, also two most expensive though.

To be honest I think I'm happy with any of them, Sterling probably my least favourite of the options

"We hope we can strengthen the squad in the three or four positions we need to before the first game"

So if Perreira goes it's 4-5 required

Think Marcos was originally saying Hed like
LW-RW-CF , with CM if possible and/or needed.

If Andreas goes I think it just confirms he feels we need a CM signing, doesnt mean we then need a 5th. I think when talking about this summer most of us felt we should sell one of AP/Reed and replace with better rather than adding an extra number there. With Ridgeon on the horizon Id be surprised if we'll get two in there.

I could agree that, depends on the versatility of the individuals, but think we need four (at least). We've lost Nelson, Willian, Vinicius and Perreira, so any less than 4 incoming and we come out down on what we had last year.

There's also Otele who played for Basle last night(they got knocked out by Kobenhagen)

Stating the bleeding obvious here!

I think we can all agree there was a list of players drawn up some time ago.

We are never shopping at the top end, so clever scouting & deal making finds gems such as Bassey, Robinson etc.

There is a case to say leaving it late saves a months worth of money on salaries.

Late deals can work in our favour as the clock ticks down and clubs need to sell.

We can't offer Euro football and won't be able to convince every target to sign despite being a London club etc.

Other clubs, agents and players of interest will negotiate at their pace and not do us any favours.

And of course there's likely some financial constraints on how much we can spend but why have an agreed plan for several players if you don't have the means to buy at least some.

But whatever the difficulties are to improve the team, this is not the way to go about doing business.

I assume a player or 2 will eventually sign but I simply do not believe we will achieve an improved team by the end of this window.

True True, would probably put him above Sterling but after Reiss

In fairness Andreas leaving has been on the cards for some time. They must have an alternative planned....mustn't they??

I find it strange that we've not been linked with any midfielders or strikers for some time (excluding the fairly weak links with Mainoo and Hackney), considering they are areas we are short.

FWIW... I wouldn't mind Sterling, as I believe Marco can get him back to his best form ... but Chelsea would have to pay 75% of his salary first ...

Agree about depending on versatility, although we have a lot of that already TBF. (ESR and king can play wide, Wilson central and Iwobi central, Sess multiple positions etc

I think we "need" 3
Would love 4

But regarding what we lost...Willian and nelson weren't in the team togther, Willian was only brought in to cover us losing nelson. So really were only 3 down.

How the hell can Chelsea have so much money when we have to keep trying to knock prices down with every single target we go for.

Dont be silly. Of course we don't.

There's no link to Willian.

He hasn't been in talks with the club about coming back.

Actual targets are picking up now but people prefer the negative chat so they're bringing him up to rile people up.

Ignore it.
