I believe some of the reason why the fee (and sell-on clause at 25%) is so high is that Kevin's original club Palmeiras still own 10% of his rights.

Meaning €4.5m of the supposed €45m is going to Palmeiras.

Presumably Palmeiras will maintain this 10% share on future sales too.

hopper

I wonder if its 25% of profit? Otherwise we would need to be able to sell him for over 25% his value to get any profit at all. Let's see.

Guy looks a real talent and he might bring us something different.

Remember both Iwobi and Chuka will be off on the African cup with Nigeria. So to me Traore has to stay. There is no point in moaning about numbers and lack of depth is if all we do is sell players on when we bring others in.
The above IS NOT A LEGAL DOCUMENT. It is an opinion.

We may yet hear the horse talk.

I can stand my own despair but not others hope

Really good point. If on profit fair enough. If on the whole sale that would be mental from our side with what we've paid for him! Hopefully just on the profit. 🙏

Can't see any way we sell Traore unless a third winger came in. Even without Afcon Marco said he wanted 5 but with would be crazy to let him go. Could we sell and bring a Sterling or Nelson in on top of these two as other two however? I defo think we could. Get these two done first and then see what happens.

No doubt someone will blame TK regardless...  :slap:

Converted? He plays as an 8 & 10 for his country and he's even stated that 8 is his favoured position. He will be fine.

Waiting until the final day to do transfers, can offer some good financial savings if the selling club need to free up a space in their squad...
They could well be more willing to accept a more realistic value for the player they want to sell...
This season, prices have been absolutely mental... 😱
There is some merit in holding your nerve...

Theres leaving things late (like we always do) and then there is this summer, which is borderline wreckless in terms of recruitment approach.

Yup, strong armed by Shakhtar clearly.

Why would they? You get the percentage when the club sells him not when his third club sells him.

Thats like saying we should get 20% when Liverpool sell Elliot and then another 20% if oe when his new club sell him

Quote from: ffc_forever on August 31, 2025, 12:06:28 PMI know we need a left winger so should be excited about Kevin but I'm actually more looking forward to getting Chukwueze in the building. A real Boa Morte exciting talent who will chip in with plenty of goals.

I wonder if Traore will move on (he's been kept out the side twice now by Castagne) or if he will stay as part of Silvia's 5 wingers.

Also think we might cash in on Adama now and get Stirling on top of these two as he can also be a back up striker. I know Adama has moments and crossing and assists good last season but if we can get £10m now and Chelsea pay all but £100k for Sterlings wages for a year loan I personally think this would make a lot of sense.

I'm an Adama fan

But if we bring in chuk and Kevin we then have what is the main attribute we formerly couldn't afford to lose- pace . So if sterling is still interested I'd absolutely sell Adama to a non prem team. Good for the books to make pure profit and then we also kill 2 birds with one stone as sterling has played alot as a striker in his career.

That gives us time to see how loupalo bi comes on and maybe dip into the striker market next year if Raul moves on.

Agreed, I mean what would we do if Kevin got injured in one of those European games he played recently? Who was our second or even third choice for LW?

Nelson

And/or sterling

Or otele

We've been rumoured to be talking with several targets for a while so we have options and backups was same with nelson last year. Wed been in touch so when Ernest fell through we pivoted

Not at all. Iwobi probably was our best player for the majority of last season, an utility player who can play on both wings, as a 10 and 8 equally good.

Suggests we're deffo confident on incomings if Godo is imminently outgoing. Good chunk of cash to put into our targets as well

My point was to translate "let's just pay the 5m (because it's chump change)" because let's face it not many of us have 5m and it's just a number in the air  without any context. Where as if the tickets go up £150 there is wide spread outrage... Not remotely thinking about the resale or competition. Smaller clubs without the revenue streams of CL clubs need to ensure value for money.

nk we left it at this late on and to what save a few £m

The club already charge the most expensive prices in the whole league, so it's a bit of a mute point that they need to charge more in order to compete.

Bournemouth's stadiums capacity is only 12,000 or so... Nottingham Forest's if apparently less than 1,000 more than Craven Cottage. Palace's stadium, Brentford's stadium, are both smaller than us and in London. Brighton's is just over 1,000 more than us.

Brentford have already spent £90m+ this summer.. Brighton have spent between £60-£70m, Forest have spent well over £100m.

The logic you're pursuing or asking us to entertain is simply a fallacy logic, it's not grounded in reality. I appreciate the point you wanted to make, but it's just not practically true to need to follow that logic, you've made it up.

LC

Interesting with Godo leaving and Andreas gone we've got some good money coming in. And if Elliott does indeed leave Liverpool we'll get some more coming in as well.

From what I've seen online it looks about £6m for Godo, £8-10m for Andreas and 20% of Elliott's fee so presuming he goes for about £40m that will be another £8m incoming as well. So that gives us around £22-24m incoming from fridge / past academy players - from that perspective we've done well this summer.

But we have just given away 25% in resale value so we may have actually sold ourselves short.
