So we are signing 3 wingers(when we really need 2 at most) and a striker(useful to have a 3rd option, but not absolutely necessary), while there is no midfielder signing.

Iwobi is going to be a CM now and we don't need him as a winger, so in a way it removes a need for him to be a winger

This must be the case. With all these wingers what do we do with Iwobi. I don't think Marco would drop him

Looks a great player who could benefit us this year off the bench, looks a bit of an up and coming beast. Then next year we can go into the market properly once Raul leaves.

Not sure it's his best position, particularly in our system. Makes no sense to me.

Don't you agree though that if we play 5 at the back Iwobi can function as an 8 with only one of Berge or Lukic holding?  I think that will be the back up plan. Also I think Reed has been slightly underrated as a back up. He has played with Lukic in the middle and we have been fine.

I do wonder why we spent 4 million on a loan fee for him to be 3rd choice striker. He is obviously very highly rated too, so idk. The signing is a bit weird,imo.

He's said it numerous times his favoured position is central. Also plays there for his national side. He will be fine wether it makes sense to you or not

Still haven't officially signed anyone, so we must be in deal sheet territory, or just hasn't been announced by the club because they're slow at everything

He'd be competing, not explicitly third choice. Rauls last year here most likely and a very different profile to what we have. Very tall, good in the air, suprisingly skillfull on the ball. Seems other striker options we liked weren't available or interested in coming into this situation. So I like the look of it. Hopefully Jackson does well at Bayern and they don't need him next summer if he plays well for us!

Maybe, but then we still have a problem of having too many wingers, as we have played with no wingers this season when we played in a back 5.

And Nigerian fans have largely been crtical of his performances when he played in the middle. Was not impressed with his performances there in a few times he played there for us. 8 in our system has quite a lot of defensive responsibilities, which is why Reed and Lukic worked better than AP in the 8 in our system.

I heard the loan fee was paid in order to beat other clubs to him (Sporting once again was one of them). I'm hoping he will push Muniz and either make Muniz improve with younger competition or push to start. Much better than having Broja or Vini who wasn't ever going to play or challenge

If we tell Berge or Lukic to play a proper holding role, I think he's got the ability to be quite a creative force in CM. He's got really good progressive passing stats which I think can translate into a central role
