I mean, this is what happens when you leave stuff so late I suppose.

For me it's 6.5, but it has nothing to do with the two deals that have collapsed. It has everything to do with not signing a midfielder. Bayer striker seemed like a weird move for multiple reasons, and I've already explained why I'm against signing George. We don't really need 3 wingers either.

Yeah people went a bit too soon on the told you so's

This of the two is the disaster for me. If we get an injury to Muniz or Raul we're stuffed. Marco will not be happy either. Not good at all.

Agreed hopper, how things change in a few minutes.

Now looking like half the cover we needed not brought in, average age not really down at all, another really low net spend, and everything done literally as late as possible.

Yep shambles. Will the club learn. No.

George deal off.

Yep, it's fair enough to criticise doing everything last minute if that is a player the club really wanted.

The more worrying part is the link with Harry, does this mean we now have a HArry for the rest of the season who does not want to play, or give it his all?

Harry not that type of player for me. he's never sulked for us and world cup year.

Take it with a pinch of salt as usual but apparently the George and Kusi-Asare deals are off

Fulham teasing another signing.

Kevin thank god.

Am very excited about him but a shame the wind gets taken out because of 2 signings that didn't happen even if one of them was our own choice.

Well. Kevin will have to really run the roost ay.

Quote from: SerbianLad on September 01, 2025, 09:18:14 PMI'd personally be delighted if George deal falls through! An inflated price, very unproven player, would rather keep Wilson/Adama.

Agreed. A blessing in disguise.

Quote from: KentFulham on September 01, 2025, 09:01:53 PMI dont particually see it as a great window, we need all 4 signing to happen, its a real shame we left it so late that they missed pre season and three games in, it is not a great way to hit the ground running. It is what it is, and it is standard TK

So unlike of you to be negative...

Not negative, just realistic, 2 deals falling through with no time left in the window is just sloppy

Neutral Zone Ultra

Don't even care if Kev gets announced in two minutes. Shambles.

That's the thing. As I mentioned not sure we could have done much about Chuckwuaze or Kevin as their clubs were never letting them go until the end of last week.

George however could have been done ages ago surely.

Having said that...it looks like this was all linked to the Wilson move. Just wonder if it was only when Leeds came in with an offer to good to turn down that we then went looking for a third winger hence being late on this one? Just a thought as did seem to be facilitating Wilson's move.
No players are unavailable until late in the window. If we really wanted Chuku earlier - we should have shown determination and gone for him a month ago and completed the deal, just like every other club. Its just us holding out for other options and going in for the kill late. We chose to do this, and suffer the consequences. Simple.

Same thing with Wilson. If we wanted to extend his contract then we should have sorted it out this summer at the latest - or looked to sell him earlier in the summer.

Its not the circumstances fighting against us, its not being unlucky or other clubs to be blamed. Its just us being passive, which is having an effect on our squad buidling

I'd give it a 6 if Kevin comes in. Not lost anyone key, brought in a back up keeper and secured King and Ridgeon. Excited to see what Chukwueze and Kevin can do, but we'll lose Chuk at AFCON.

But I just think we've failed Marco who wanted a midfielder and a striker. We had all summer to do something and could have struck early deals; it's just beyond idiotic to have so many irons in the fire on the final day.

Quote from: jayffc on September 01, 2025, 08:46:21 PMIt's 4 young exciting players.

All with permanent or option to be bar 1 loan of a Bayern Wonderkid.

Brilliant end to a long frustrating window waiting for the action to hit. Always felt we'd get quality business done in the end. We needed a handful of quality options and I think we've got that.

People freaking out and calling the club a disgrace all day - only for us to bring in 4 exciting attacking signings, so overboard. Was it a risk leaving it late, sure but I'm really happy with our attacking options now.

My only concern is CM, so not a 10/10 for me window.
1 point off for leaving it a little later than normal even for my liking.
1 point off for not bringing in a CM although we do have options there still.

Top Youth signed ✅
Squad kept together ✅
5 signings made ✅
4 high-quality young attacking players ✅
GK backup improved ✅

It's a 7.5- 8/10 for me. Well see how it looks by the end of the season with benefit of hindsight

this is of course IF all these come off as reported
If we miss out on George i'd drop it to a 6.5-7

Right, I appreciate the positivity, but I'm going to try and not be negative, but hopefully add some realism to the context of what's just happened.

We've signed two, potentially exciting but untested academy players, one either perm or with an option in George, who's played very little mens football and then Kusi Asare, who is a hot prospect, but hasn't played for Bayern and is on loan.

Then we've signed Chukwueze, on loan - with a view to perm - he's shown good quality two years ago at Villarreal, but hasn't shown that much of a breakthrough at Milan. It's an unknown as a result, but he adds pace and skills - does he have end product? He's not a regular for Nigeria, so it's a 50/50 on whether he goes to the AFCON. If he plays well - great. If he doesn't, then we don't take up the option.

What does that mean? It means next summer we'll have Raul, Adama, Wilson all at the end of their contracts in the front line, and potentially needing to replace them AND Kusi Asare, and possibly Chukwueze. So financially we'll need to rebuild most of our front line.

Our options remaining at that point will be maybe Muniz, who'll be going into the last year of his contract, Kevin, Iwobi and ESR, adding in Sess as a buffer should we want to. And, depending on how the George deal unfolds - will he be any good at PL level? - then George too.

Kevin, looks exciting - he looks strong, has end product, ambitious and has both pace and skills to beat a man. He's genuinely exciting, but there has to be some measured approach to a) how long it takes for him to bed in, and b) time to adjust to the league.. which could happen.

I'd put it as a window at a 4.5-5.5, max 6.

We haven't gotten in a CM - as far as we know now.. which Marco said he wanted - which given he said he wanted 5 players, brings the score down 2 points in itself. Then the unknown entities that could be exciting, but are largely untested in George and Kusi Asare, is 1 point each, which is not panning them, or not getting too excited, a middle ground.

I'm hoping that Kevin and Chuk's pace and final balls will improve the output of Muniz and Jimenez.

This. I don't care about losing George especially at that price. But no 8, no striker and it all being so infuriatingly late makes it a 5.5/6
