Trying to view the Window philosophically & we eventually have two quality players adding to our squad. The news that the young Swedish CF is also coming is a real bonus ... have to admit I'd have liked to have Sterling adding to our ranks but guess the personal terms couldn't be agreed.
So in the end some good results - but why does it have to be 'in the end' & not during the course of the window?
Also talk of Harry Wilson to Leeds is verging on crazy ... but Stansfield left last year.
Overall, waking up this morning a satisfactory outcome, all in all.
Stay Fulhamish ~ stay unique

Now that the dust is settling, I'm pretty happy with the  window. As others have said, it should be measured not only in terms of who we've acquired, but also who we've kept, usually with their contracts already extended, or discussions pending. For the new players, there's going to be a period of adjustment...hopefully we'll find out soon enough if they're as good as the hype suggests.

As far as cover in midfield goes, one big uncertainty is what happens with Iwobi. I think he's a good enough player with the right skill set to play in no 8 if required....but who would he replace? We'll have to see. I can't imagine Marco leaving him out of the first eleven.

One thing about the window that is obvious is that very, very few people outside of a chosen circle know what is really going on  - who the club targets are, what offers have been made, what other clubs are doing etc. It's easy to attack the club for leaving us in the dark. But what are the club supposed to do in the middle of delicate negotiations? Provide a running commentary of what offer we are prepared to make to every target? Let fans know who are our first priorities and who are our fall backs? What the players and their agents are saying back to us? It's not going to happen.

Of course it is frustrating that things are left late...for Silva and team planning, more so than for fans. In an ideal world, we'd all want all the ingoings and outgoings sorted by the end of the first week of the window. I'm sure the club would want this if it were possible. But it isn't, and given that, for a club with our financial limitations, I think there's a lot to be said for the club's approach...of not being rushed in to accepting what the selling club demands, of being prepared to wait to make sure we get our main targets...I think a case in point is the Bayern Munich loan and insisting on the option to buy. It's not always the most comfortable approach, but keeping your nerve has big benefits when it pays off.

Jonah Kusi - Asare - Loan with option to buy. BUT Bayern have secured a buy back clause. Loan fee up to 4m Euros. He has also renewed his contract with Bayern beyond 2026.

No idea what any of it means.

Assume the option to buy only comes into play if the player wants to move? In which case maybe it's been added to "shut us up", with both Bayern and player knowing it'll never be enforced.

He's signed a contract extension because he was out of contract next summer - otherwise he'd have been on loan to us and then become a free agent; just protects Bayern in case we don't take up the option to purchase which it looks like we would be interested in doing given how hard we fought for it to be included in the first place

Buy option is referenced more than once in the linked article as well.

What could go wrong with signing a tall Swedish Centre Forward

Buy option usually means we have the rights to sign the player regardless, the option is ours not the players. Though if he wasn't comfortable staying after that period, he wouldn't presumably have signed the contract with that stipulation.

If he doesnt want to sign for us at the end of the year outright, then you'd assume we might not trigger it. But we can, we'd be within our rights, he presumably doesn't have to sign anything new, it's pre agreed. And if Bayern want him back and he wants to go back, then then presumably they'll have to pay us for developing him via this buy-back clause. Could be a funny situation of us triggering his transfer next summer only for bayern to immediately buy him back of us. Who knows.

Now it's time for the fans to get behind him and for him to fall in love with london life so he stays on at least another year.

Very interested to see the figures. The fact the buy back is included means we may well have got a decent option in there. Would have been a lot without the buy back.

The buy back clauses are usually pretty hefty but perhaps as they were so reluctant to lose him might not be massive.

Even if they did take him back we'll defo make a very decent profit you would imagine. Bayern are elite level however so he'd have to be absolutely class for them to bother (I.e competing with Kane and Jackson's levels). It's actually in their interests to let us develop him for a few years so you'd imagine we might have him for a while. Exciting and what a deal if the figures for the option/clause are decent.

Quote from: C Block on September 02, 2025, 10:08:22 AMSorry to be a grey cloud, but I've just been having a dig around on Kuli-Asare ,
And the word Germany appears to be that the kid has already been told he is returning to Bayern next summer and we have effectively paid £4 million for a one season loan,
Looks like the deal was cobbled together at the last minute to just get it done but I think the Bayern buy back clause could be hugely significant,
Hopefully this is all completely incorrect as a one season loan for an 18 year old makes no sense to me.

Not true baby, he's staying.

In PSR terms that strikes me as a neat accounting trick, surprised we don't see more of it (although I saw Elliott has a buy obligation for Villa and a buy-back clause for Liverpool)

Watching a compilation of Kevin's Champions League highlights and he looks absolutely exceptional. Could be one of our most exciting signings.

That said I thought the same when we signed Bryan Ruiz!

Yeah it's here, someone posted this on discord. The video needs to be downloaded but it's 13 months and much better than your typical Youtube fare with annoying edits.

"Found this comment on reddit about Kevin:

"Was my 2nd choice signing for United in the wide position after Cunha and honestly I would have bought them both and just moved Cunha to 9# because I rate Kevin that highly.

Think Fulham have a gem and he'll be off for 2x this in a couple of seasons.

I work in football analytics and he's a player I've tracked extensively for the last 18 months, here's a video I made of his CL highlights for anyone interested: https://drive.google.com/file/d/168w7cLQEkbYgXHGwbFKW8Y13x1FtN5ES/view?usp=sharing

I also have a compilation of his domestic highlights but bear in mind due to the ongoing war the league isn't the same, nevertheless he's been superb. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1TJZ-LMvYSx1PT7ZZOGgeBmPo4yO9Kpi4/view?usp=sharing

He's an ELITE level dribbler, Vinicus Jnr level in 1v1 and all round an excellent creator.

The highlights are meant to show as many different aspects of his game as possible, the only weakness I see is his finishing which isn't particularly bad it just isn't at the same level as the rest of his forward play."'

I'm getting concerned that this thread will not reach 229 now.

No worries now as 229 pages will be exceeded, many thanks to contributors. I can now collect my bet.

Once again, thanks to all those posters who keep this thread going. I can now collect my bet on reaching 329 and can reveal that my final bet was 429 which I thought was ridiculous at the time but now I'm not so sure.

I think we could fall short of 429 pages which is a shame as I was looking forward to Barbados but well done to all those that took part. I think this year may well be a record number of pages but guess I'll let the statisticians deal with that.

If Jackson signs permanently he drops down the pecking order.

Seen video impressive, can't believe we were the only serious interest.
