Is that all it's going to cost us to get rid?
I think comments like this are ridiculous and incredibly disrespectful. I'm not singling you out, I could have quoted some other posts, but it's just ridiculous, imo. He was a very good and very important player for us in a lot of games, especially last season. He kept Wilson out of the team for a long time, and deservedly so, because he was playing really well at the time.
It's not often we disagree SL and i'm sorry you and a few others think it's disrespectful. You are entitled to disagree but i stand by my thoughts on Adama for the money we have paid him over the term of his contract i feel we got very little back with this season showing a total lack of effort in his cameo appearances.

Zero transfer fee.

Base salary of 3.6m per year allegedly (before bonuses)

Been with us for 2.5 seasons

Unfortunate to get injured in first season for a significant time but...

17 Goal/Assist contributions in 2958 mins total.
0.51 G/A contributions per 90mins played

For 9m in wages ....let's add a couple mil in bonuses just to be safe -11m.

Contributed 2nd most assists in Fulhams record breaking points tally season.

In today's game of insane wages and fees, that doesn't seem unreasonable at all. Think we got plenty value out of the deal, even if I agree this year his forms fallen away, naturally really given hes barely getting minutes with Wilson and chuk pushing him down the roster. If he's sold even for a couple million that deals even better value for money.

Think we all agree its time to part ways but for me he's clearly played his part in Fulham establishing themselves in the prem which now is allowing us to push forward to upgrade and that's invaluable.

Fulham 442

There are clearly divided opinions about Traore on here. I don't think he's done much for us overall and would be more than happy to see him move on, the best solution for all parties imo.

Bassey the warrior

Traore simply isn't suited to our tactics, so he looks terrible. He could do well for a direct counter attacking side that don't rely on high possession, so I'd expect him to be much improved for West Ham.

Assuming we can get £5m for him and don't need to pay off the remainder of his salary, moving him on would suit all parties.

For West Ham, having made a significant investment in new strikers, they'd benefit from his crossing accuracy, which is definitely his best attribute for us.

Quote from: TheOnionBag on January 21, 2026, 01:58:43 PMAdama was better last year for sure but apart from Ipswich away where he was one of our better players I don't think he offered enough, I can't disagree with the stats you quoted but personally I would much rather have Wilson in the team who makes rus off the ball and provides options for the player on the ball, Adama seems not to provide this outlet.

Hopefully this doesn't come across as me picking on Adama, just giving my opinion.
There are plenty other examples apart from Ipswich. Of the top of my head, Leicester away, Newcastle at home and Wolves away. I'm also pretty sure he got assists in both Brentford games and played well in both those games too. He also assisted Iwobi for the winner against Manchester United in his first season, and he was superb that day. I think it's completely false to say his only good game was the Ipswich game. Also, apart from poor finishing(which, granted, is a big issue) he had a perfect game vs Man City and played a huge part in us being so close to getting something from that match.

I don't think I've said I'd prefer Adama over Wilson? Wilson is in such good form now that I'd prefer him to most wingers.

I also think it might be the right time to move on from Adama, but I still think we need to get a replacement in first, before letting him go.

Exactly. I don't see how we haven't got our money's worth. He's another player that we got that was a very good deal financially.

Appreciate this isn't fully transfer related and don't want to clog up the feed too much with something not relevant, but my 2p on Adama is that whilst his output is pretty decent in limited minutes, I think he goes missing too often for someone as gifted as he is with blistering pace. He's also just too bulky now I think which makes him too immobile, and for me his body language/work ethic off the ball have gotten progressively worse. I don't mind players having a bad game because they're only human at the end of the day, but it does annoy me when they don't put a shift in or look disinterested as he often seems to be

Trusty Steed

Adama is ok, but I'd want better. He isn't going to improve, and if we can get £5m for him I'd be very happy. Thankful for all he's done, but we need to look at younger players, with higher ceilings.

Forest at home last season was he's best game I recall But City away he should've got a hat trick and took a couple of yards out of Walker who has never been the same since.

SL, like others have said in this thread your posts are always considered and generally positive, I may be more from the glass half empty camp.
I appreciate the other examples you provided of where you feel Adama played well, however you haven't changed my mind and  I stand by my opinion that he does not offer enough certainly not on a consistent basis.
Just a couple of other points I didn't say Ipswich was his only good game only that it was one of his better games (perhaps I have been expecting too much of him and am therefore disappointed in his return).
The example of Wilson over Adama was mainly on the basis of me preferring a player that makes them self available for the ball and puts in a shift (which I believe Adama has failed to do) I wasn't suggesting you would have Adama as the first name in the team sheet.

KentFulham

JPM at Palace is now looking to leave, would be a great signing for us

40m for a 28 yr old? I thought everyone wanted youth? Forgive me if I'm wrong , but were you not one of the people slagging off the club for buying old talent that wouldn't have resale value?

He's definately been good in spurts but doubt we'll spend that extra 12m it'd cost on top of someone like pepi who's a long term target. Especially if we're looking at bobb + Sara/atta

Rumours he wants to go back to France or a big European club anyway

HV71

As someone who has already said it is thought that he wants to go to a big European club to try to break into the National team for the World Cup

He would be replacing Raul who I would let go at end of season, replacing 34 with 28.

To be fair, to succeed as a small club you need a mixture of youth and experience. I'm not opposed to buying players in their prime or slightly over the prime as it would help us now too many of these players will mean we will have another age issue in a few years.

I'm all for Adama staying. There are no other wingers like him honestly. Extremely strong, great dribbler, can find a pass - all a formula to move defending players out of position...in a world of modern football that is built on moving defensive players out of position.

Steeeeeeeeeed

If we get Bobb, and already have Kevin, our transfer policy clearly is based on popular first names of the late 20th century, that you don't hear so much these days.
Any Ian's or Normans or the like, out there, get yourselves ready, Fulham may come calling.

Correct there are no other wingers like him! Most of the others have an end product. He has always been far too inconsistent whether with us or Barcelona Wolves Villa Boro. Shame because he should have been an absolute beast of a player instead of being somewhat a tad journeyman.
