Oh well... the summer thread is imminent...

Quote from: General on February 02, 2026, 06:58:51 PMOut lf interest, if we wanted Pepi so badly, why didn't we just do the deal and loan him back to PSV for remainder of the season, just so it was done and dusted and we didn't have to potentially start from scratch in the summer with an even shorter window and more useless than most transfer strategy?

Given this is our last chance to make a positive impression on Marco and Wilson before they make decisions re their future, feels like a bit of a clanger all round from the board and transfer team
spend 30 mil on a striker just to let him spend 6 months of that contract in another club? Who are we? Chelsea?

We wont spend big and then loan someone out

Somerset Fulham

Wouldn't be surprised to see us pick up Sterling on a short term contract, and I wouldn't be against it either.

Obviously there would be tears about that too, there always is when it comes to the transfer windows.

I said before end of window I wouldn't be against sterling as an extra attacking option , but with bobb signed we don't need him unless it's to play up top solely so a waste of wages I'd think as not sure he's Marcos type of striker

Is Sterling now a free agent so can be signed outside of the window?
Remember you are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.
I will be as good as I can be and when I cross the finishing line I will see what it got me

Apologies posted on wrong thread

Not a great game - Sunderland far too powerful for a very blunt Burnley team ( who managed the lowest xg of the season)
Sadly Sunderland go above us . Need to win on Saturday

It would definitely have to be very, very inexpensive because I would imagine he would be deployed as you say.  We have some red hot wingers at the moment and sadly, I don't think he is displacing any of them.

But if we need a forward (and I agree he isn't a Silva type) then he is sitting at home and waiting for a call. A bit of pace coming on straight through the middle with Andersen's passing range could work though I suppose.

SerbianLad

Why on earth would we sign Sterling? We have 5 wingers already.

Quote from: demeant0r on February 02, 2026, 07:13:05 PMIt'd be Fulhamish if the club puts out a surprise announcement an hour after the window closes saying they signed Pepi or Hayden or something.
Dream on

can be signed by an EPL team who have not registered 25 players in their squad list which is due in this week (February 5th).
Currently Fulham have 24!
Free agents have to be registered fourth week March.

That's not how it'd work Deuce, you don't pay for the player to play for six month, the contract is just agreed ahead of time and locked in, on the proviso that he stay the rest of the season at his current team

Bloody hell, he's reportedly on £500k per day ... PER FRICKIN DAY 😱

116 pages and we get Bobb.

Happy with that. Who is going to really add to what we already have for under £20?

And Pepi will be match fit by April.

Marathon not a sprint.

If we register Benda that makes 25. I wonder if we will leave Borto off the squad list to have a slot just in case.

Well, if in summer we're still interested in a midfielder (which I think we are) Atta looked good tonight for Udinese as they beat Roma 1-0.

In the words of commentator Dan Mason:
"Atta looks quite the player, covers a lot of ground, is a good ball carrier, has a range of passing and is a willing runner. Still 23"

He's also got a decent shot on him.

He was the one I praying we'd go in late for. Unfortunately his reputation is growing by the day and I'd imagine few clubs are starting to take notice. We could've stolen a march on him but I fear he'll go to a big club in the summer

Sterling 3/4 years ago yes let's be honest shadow of the player he was.

I do think the most important thing now though is support for the team, and time for players like Bobb. Kevin's had and still has his fair share of criticism, which, in isolation, he's not exempt from what these signings have long contracts so value shouldn't be deemed too quickly. They need time and space to flourish. Smith Rowe from the domestic league a good example.

Time and patience and hopefully good things to come.
