Who do you think we will be linked with the most when summer silly season transfer thread opens? Pepi? Willock? anotherwinger? Would imagine Pepi is odds on for speculation?

Stoneleigh Loyalist

Not exactly a transfer comment but since he has been back Robinson has been rubbish and no where near his top form. Who is to say that Muniz will not be the same when he comes back?

KentFulham

I am excisted for the Summer thread to open for discussions about how expensive players are, and maybe we can just make do, lets see how things are going for the first half of the new season and take a view in January, before repeating

For me AR got his place because Sess was injured, but now Sess is back there is no reason for AR to hold the place

If Wolves go down, I think Andre will be high on that list. Despite my reservations on how well he's done at Wolves, clearly he's been a long term target for us and now, with domestic experience, fits the mould in the sort of player we'd be lookign at.

Remember you are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.
I will be as good as I can be and when I cross the finishing line I will see what it got me

I'm not mystic meg.....but if I was a betting man, I'd say 'when'....

But yes, I'd assume Andre will be linked heavily again.

But the club were never interested in Andre and it was all Brazilian paper talk.

I'm not 100% sure about that. Could be true and I recall a comment in a press conference about him, but I can't imagine with all the smoke there was no fire. There was late interest according to some in this window but Wolves shot it down immediately (supposedly). Could be nonsense, could be some truth to it. Who knows. But I'd imagine he's going to feature a bit in the summer thread.

How annoying that PSV finally agrees to sell, the player agrees to sign but it's all too late for them to sign a replacement.

Of course we will never know all the details and maybe PSV where stringing us along but there does appear to be a pattern here in how we do business.

Whatever acceptable offer was made it was too late and while I'm sure some will point to the times it's worked in our favour it left us short for the big push for Europe.

He was clearly a main target, so it depends on how Silva sees the failure to sign him and if it affects his future?

Moussa Dembele the 3rd

Andre is too small to play in midfield 2 in the premiere league. Maybe he'd work as an 8 in a 433, but I don't think he will have any success at the base of a 4231.

Surlyc

As Oscar Bobb showed, if a player actively wants to come here then the deal gets done. Pepi clearly wasn't that interested in the move, so all the other points are moot.

Pepi very much wanted to come by all reports, it was PSV that didn't help the deal along. Was clear since our first bid in december and multiple since over january that we were serious about negotiations and despite over a month's notice of that intention they didn't bother to find anything on the striker front that they wanted until too late. If they were interested in selling at the right price they should have prepared for that eventuality really.

The fact they didn't suggest they weren't serious or motivated about letting him go . Suspect they're taking a punt on him having a good world cup

Whoever we bring in next in midfield I think needs to be a great duel winner and physical presence. All our midfielders are good individual players but as combinations all feel slightly lightweight.

JimmyConway

On the subject of midfield I do hope we get to see Ridgeon given a run of games at some point this season. We were able to convince him his future was at Fulham last year when there were some heavy hitters looking to sign him. The only argument I can see not giving him matches is if we were chasing a European spot still come April/May but personally think that's unlikely. Just hope the season does not finish like last with a whimper.

A Palhinha regen would be quite acceptable....

Happy with that. Who is going to really add to what we already have for under £20?

And Pepi will be match fit by April.

Marathon not a sprint.

I'm available for £19

Typo! Meant £18.

Be interesting to see how good Ridgeon actually is as reports of his recent England games were not great. John King had a good start this season but has faded from the picture and it seems to me he needs to toughen up a bit. Likewise not long ago Luke Harris was the great hope for the future and is now at Oxford.

Really hope King comes good and doesn't fade away like some others.
