🌞Summer Silly Season Transfer thread 2026

Looking forward to the new season. We have a settled back four, decent central midfield and two very good wingers. For all of us who lived through the club's dark ages between the late 60's to t he Adams era these are good times. We could probably do with some cover up front but otherwise nothing to be despondent about.

Some newer supporters seem to live in some fantasy land where world class players are desperate to come to the Cottage. Those of us who saw Budgie Byrne and Frank Large are now very happy with the way the club is run.

this is my view we have a competitive first team squad and a striker who can score goals so it's not all bad news.

Remind me who is this striker because I can't think of him?

I except that we have got our self in a hole,and this hole has got bigger.I can't remember how long the khans have owned fulham,remind me.We never built from youth up under the present owners,or once we changed our Dof who signed cairney,macdonald,ream etc they got older and then we carried on buying players 26 to 27 helped by silva,funny we are doing it now he's gone dieppe 29,iwobi 30,teti 30,Belgian 30 even robinson 28,and berge 28 that my friends down to the absent Dof.And by his dad who props him up by not finding cheaper young bargains to sell on for more of a war chest it stops us progressing up the league and perhaps europe for me it's criminal especially as tony doesn't physically support the club he works for they spend with no end problem madness.

I cannot disagree more with this sentiment.

In an early period with the current board, we were dwindling nearer league one than the premier league with a very young squad and a team very much signing youth.

That wasn't working.

What eventually did work, was mixing a team of experience with a sprinkle of youth.

Plus, we actually had a history of picking experience over youth that dated before this board. Think of hodgson's squads, we were very very old, I'm quite sure that we literally had the highest average age squad during our europa league final campaign (i might be wrong) but we have always been good at getting an extra year out of players.

I dont think we should abandon this culture but I could agree maybe on leaning a little more toward youth going forward. But I don't think it's the big all or end all.

Wish to add, I also think our board have done well overall. Not fantastic, they inherited a difficult job and did it poorly at first, and our slip was we almost a disaster because of decisions this board made. I would believe they thought the job was easier than it was.

BUT, and it's capitals because it's a big but (and we all like big butts)

Since then, they have proactively fixed the errors and have learnt well how to maintain and run our club. They've spent almost as much as is possible by a chairman and have invested in long term projects. Then the best thing, they've got our performances back to the league we believe we should be in, and consistently in a position that is maybe a little higher, quicker than we would have initially aimed.

And that's good work, much much better than the majority of boards in the premier league and probably (i have less graphs to go off) world football generally. Everyone makes mistakes and this board is no exception, but to learn from mistakes and improve upon them is exactly what we've got. So I for one, feel very grateful.

@Willham I agree with your post, but I did feel Riise was rubbish towards the end. That whole relegation team was pretty bad in honesty. Senderos being another notably bad player.

Fulham is renowned for making the most of relatively limited resources.  We've managed to wring 76 pages out of signing a teenager we had last season and are now clicking along at around 3 pages a day.  But the drive to 300 isn't guaranteed, even with the final week frenzy.  Can't rely on flying a player to Munich only to not sign for them to boost the thread. 

"No news" statistically defines us, in a similar way to sideways and backwards passes statistically defining most football teams, it's just that these get erased in the memory, leaving the good bits.

Maybe not the best one I picked out the bunch but he was alright.
Senderos absolutely agreed, but he wasnt a older guy in our team, he was quite young.

They might be interested as they're on the hunt for a winger and have lost out on multiple already if you believe reports - garnacho, summerville, Now Gittens they're looking at.

Regardless I don't think we'd be interested in selling for what they would pay, given we tracked him for sor long... so would think this a non starter. They bid around 40m for Summerville... In this market, I highly doubt we'd be interested in that when you have the likes of Bergval going for 60m

I think he meant a member of the scouting staff who is currently on Strike until Fulham sign a proper striker.

They say patience is a virtue which we may all have to be.

I imagine when appointed our new manager would have discussed players he was interested in buying. However I also believe he may have asked to have say 10 days to assess our current squad before making any final decisions on who needs to go. Nearly every poster on here wants Andersen and Muniz gone however seeing them in training he may want to keep them and ditch others.

Based on the above I would imagine decisions have been made and hopefully meaningful negotiations are going on which may start bearing fruit this week.

I for one certainly don't want Andersen to leave. The bedrock of our defence and the latest in a long line from J Dempsey, Mathewson, Lacy, Brown, Coleman, Hangeland etc. None of them, except possibly Coleman, blessed with pace but all solid reliable CB.
