Quote from: JimmyConway on August 26, 2024, 08:27:32 PMRead today Westham might be ready to offload Ward-Prowse? Mentioned him a couple of weeks ago would be a good addition to our team. Probably unlikely with Berge signing but good experience and quality midfield player who could be available at a decent price?

Set piece merchant. Would be a big step down in every other area for us IMO.

Big no from me. His set pieces haven't been as potent and he's not far off Reed in terms of his overall player albeit with a slightly better pass outlay. He's not the same player and of Westham are offloading, I don't see why we'd want him. Basically, not an upgrade for our starting 11.

Quote from: Deeping_white on August 26, 2024, 08:20:36 PM£35m for Pereira would be such a healthy profit from a FFP perspective we could replace him with two players, and he's probably on pretty healthy wages too. As Angus says, his workrate and set piece delivery are his key strengths and I think the fact he puts in so many decent corners probably stat pads his creativity output. I'd certainly regard him as replaceable, and if we did sell him at £35m that's money for Andre and another CM who we could have the luxury of taking a punt on as a long term option and easing into the side this season knowing we have Berge, Lukic, Reed, TC already here. At some point Pereira will leave, and his value will peak around now based on his age and contract duration, so if we're serious about becoming a club that buys low and sells at peak value, that would be around now that we look to move him on.

Sure, but again, its forest thats in for him and at 25m apparently.

We could want the profit and the player still not be interested at all in the move. Can't see why hed be up for it when hes a starter at a better club at this stage of his career

If it were a European club knocking maybe, but this is pie in the sky otherwise I think.

And, what's to say he won't be worth more next season? Especially if we have a good season and he's a major player in that!?

Dont disagree. All round I dont see this happening this season. Next year I think he revaluates where hes at depending on where we finish and what his options are... and we look at his age etc then... but this year? Everything points to him staying

HobGoblin

Sorry but Cairney is not the replacement at all. we'd have to recruit another player to cover the position

Quote from: Deuce on August 26, 2024, 04:48:00 PMI think some people tend to think a bit too highly of Pereira. He is great for us, but as soon as he is put into a bigger club his relative weakness in possession as a 10/8 in a bigger side will be exposed. His limit is somewhere at our level.

So I dont see it as strange that Forrest are trying their luck. I actually think there are similarities between him and Andersen. They are both closing in at their peak of their career, so their next contract will likely be their biggest and most lucratice. And thats why Andersen choose us. CP didnt match our contract offer - and we apparently have him at over 150 k a week.

I can see Forrest doing the same with Pereira, and I doubt Pereira wouldnt entertain the idea of being one of Forrest highest paid player. I may be cynical, but I dont think Pereira sees a too bright big club future and would probably want to get as much money as possible instead of chasing a big club move. If he performs in the prem, he will still get his brazil call up either way.

The question for us ultimately is if we are willing to offer Pereira a really high wage hike in the coming years, or if we should instead look to cash in while his market value is at its highest
I agree with almost all of this.

Though where did you get that Andersen salary figure from? I struggle to see how that could be true, and when he was reportedly on 80K at Palace, it would seem completely unnecessary business to go that high. On twitter one figure I saw was 120K a week, and even that seems at the upper end (and presumably a figure that factors hitting loads of bonuses).

Yah, I'd really hate it if Pereira could actually score a free kick. Must be awful having that kind of a threat on a team. Seriously though, if Pereira could ever score a free kick to go with his corners, we'd be clamouring all over him.

Lyon want everything wrapped up before deadline day. By all accounts Cherki isn't keen on the move, so if he comes in because he's been almost forced out the door so they make a fee, I think I want him even less.

Get the feeling he'll be one to sulk, especially as whoever comes in will be behind Iwobi in the pecking order

I don't think so. Iwobi is not the answer to LW & I hope we are looking for a starter to replace Willian out there.

Iwobi is more likely to start RW with Traore dropping back to being an impact sub.

if he doesn't want to join us he doesn't sign as no one can force a player out of any club.Mctominay was clear he didn't want to come to Fulham he was crystal clear on it.

Perhaps we can do something to reduce the sloppiness: Sell Pereira; buy Andre; move Berge into central midfield. Sorted.

Buy Andre who has never played premier league football as he is better than Pereira?
Where do fans dream up this rubbish from.

Berge's a better central midfielder than Pereira in my opinion.

Just because you made yourself look a fool earlier in the window with your persistent claims we had never bid for Andre, don't try to salvage something by having a go at me.

I have only quoted what I was told on good authority three transfer windows ago that we had no interest in Andre and the story going round was a wanabee journalist trying to get himself noticed. Everything else since then has been just made up rumours including our alleged bid, their presidents alleged statement and our CEO's alleged visit to tie up the deal.

Perhaps Silva saying the same thing yesterday may convince you but I doubt and we will probably see Andre's name mentioned again next January.

Trolling at this point

Their president is literally on video saying we bid and they gave a counter offer we didnt respond to.

Then a second interview confirming since signing berge we had told them we were no longer in for the player

Rutzler who is THE go to guy on all fulham matters also has confirmed our previous interest on multiple occasions
🤷🏻

Probably worth not listening to the person who gave this on good authority because it's obvious at this stage that it's complete and utter b*llocks.

And don't we know it? Every time Andre's name is mentioned, sure as night follows day, you're there to tell us. Had I paired any other player with Berge to replace Pereira, you wouldn't have bothered to reply.

Deeping_white

Forest have bid £20m for Wissa at Brenford. It's highly unlikely they'd do a deal with us but that's not bad value for money as he's consistently been one of their best forwards and has been good at PL level. Issue would be resale value as he's 27 but would get a few decent seasons out of him
