The Pereira thing is a lot like Palace selling us Andersen. If you could get them up to c£30m, then it becomes an incredibly difficult offer to turn down.

He's good, but he's not that good, and you could immediately reinvest the money in a younger player who is equally as good - or you could use it to try and make a massive splash and go for someone like Alex Baena.

I get why he might not be everyone's favourite but, unless we get a totally exceptional fee for him, I'd be v disappointed if we sell Pereira to a league rival like Forest.

Personally I can't believe why we would consider selling Pereira. Who would be the player to slot into his position? I think he provides a lot for us and while sometimes his finished or final pass isn't always great. His work rate and stats are.

His efforts seem more appreciated by those in the game than us supporters. He has won a place in the Brasil squad because of how he has played for us and that's something I still don't believe I'm typing! No way should we be considering letting him go.

I don't think so.  Be careful on that one.  I have several Palace friends and they couldn't have been happier to see him leave.  They felt he was way over rated, and poor finisher based on all the chances he would get. They were very glad to see him go.  As for me, I've always liked watching him play, seemed happy on the pitch, always threw a hissy when fouled, seemed to always have that big wide smile.  Not sure, though, if he would be a fit for FFC.

I think some people tend to think a bit too highly of Pereira. He is great for us, but as soon as he is put into a bigger club his relative weakness in possession as a 10/8 in a bigger side will be exposed. His limit is somewhere at our level.

So I dont see it as strange that Forrest are trying their luck. I actually think there are similarities between him and Andersen. They are both closing in at their peak of their career, so their next contract will likely be their biggest and most lucratice. And thats why Andersen choose us. CP didnt match our contract offer - and we apparently have him at over 150 k a week.

I can see Forrest doing the same with Pereira, and I doubt Pereira wouldnt entertain the idea of being one of Forrest highest paid player. I may be cynical, but I dont think Pereira sees a too bright big club future and would probably want to get as much money as possible instead of chasing a big club move. If he performs in the prem, he will still get his brazil call up either way.

The question for us ultimately is if we are willing to offer Pereira a really high wage hike in the coming years, or if we should instead look to cash in while his market value is at its highest

I would be surprised if he went but my take on your question is ESR plays the 10 role Berge comes in as box to box type leaving either defensive midfielder to come in or we stay with Lukic for now. I would say Pereira is better in the 10 role than the current role he is playing mainly that he is attack minded more than he is defensive? With ESR you would imagine earmarked to play there? Seems like Silva likes a defensive type an attacking type and someone who does a bit of both hence Berge signing. Lots of options now.

AP might not be the best player of Marco Silvia's tenure but I see him as the defining one: resurrected career, high defensive industry with creative flair, and he's an ever present. I tend to agree with others that Fulham is his perfect club. I don't think he would benefit from the chaos at forest or the intense competition for places somewhere bigger.

APs interviews in the summer directly stated that he wants to play European football at the top level and to continue solidifying his place playing for brazil and that his agent would be seeking ways to make that happen

So think he backs himself as a top player worthy of a bigger move if he was to go and that appears to be his motivation mentally. Dont see forest as the pathway to that

Otherwise why move on if the manager here who he has a great relationship wants him and we have been consistantly bettee than forest for years. I dont see Joachim as the same situation tbh. He had played here before and enjoyed his time here, palace have been shedding their biggest players this summer and we have been a team seen to be on the up to many.

I think AP will hope to have one last good year here and try and play well enough for fulham to get Europe or for a European club to sign him

So with only a couple of days to go, what activity do we expect?

- are we going back for Andre? (Seems a waste after chasing for 2 years)
- do we need a wide player or a 15 goal a season striker?
- who will we see go out (on loan)

Don't forget when he got back from his summers international games he was very complimentary about Fulham and Silva after his comments about bigger clubs,and so he should as his form is far better for us than it was at Manure.
I really hope he stays and believes the players that are coming in are better quality and wants to be part of it.

£35m for Pereira would be such a healthy profit from a FFP perspective we could replace him with two players, and he's probably on pretty healthy wages too. As Angus says, his workrate and set piece delivery are his key strengths and I think the fact he puts in so many decent corners probably stat pads his creativity output. I'd certainly regard him as replaceable, and if we did sell him at £35m that's money for Andre and another CM who we could have the luxury of taking a punt on as a long term option and easing into the side this season knowing we have Berge, Lukic, Reed, TC already here. At some point Pereira will leave, and his value will peak around now based on his age and contract duration, so if we're serious about becoming a club that buys low and sells at peak value, that would be around now that we look to move him on.

Read today Westham might be ready to offload Ward-Prowse? Mentioned him a couple of weeks ago would be a good addition to our team. Probably unlikely with Berge signing but good experience and quality midfield player who could be available at a decent price?
