I think Kalvin Phillips would be a good signing but we shouldn't pay more than £15m for him. If we lose Palhinha we should sign Phillips plus another midfielder- someone like Andre.

think it may will be a season long loan for Philips also we or whoever signs him has  to give him a chance.

Am I right in thinking that we are now unlkely to see any transfers until the Euros are over as managers will want a final look at their targets playing at this level.

interesrting - Bove and Andre could be a cool combo to be fair. Watch a bit of Roma as my chosen Italian team...

Playing as CM's ,both are combative and capable of bringing the ball forward to turn defence into attack quickly, both pretty good on the ball. Bove has a good bit of physical presence despite not being a 6 footer and technically sound for a young lad (22). He's a hard worker, always gives a lot of effort.

Neither are Palhinha in profile exactly, but Bove the closer of the two in play style so if any truth you'd think he'd been the more deep-lying of the 2, he does like to get stuck in and put himself about and presume he will only get stronger over the next few years- not easily shrugged off the ball. He's not quite a star at this point but there's potential there in the young Italian lad- hadn't realised he might be up for grabs - he's a bit more Tonali-esque than just a midfield destroyer but no bad thing. Like a bit more aggressive Lukic.

I thought Silva has said that Jay is part of his plans for next season?  I would certainly like to see him given a chance.

Glad to see this one popping up again. Think he's quality despite his sub par performance vs man city and would be interested to see what sort of system marco would operate around him, him being not a like for like Palhinha replacement.

West Ham, Ipswich Town and Fulham are all keen on signing Celtic defender Cameron Carter-Vickers over the summer, according to HITC.

The news outlet reported on 17 June that despite having one of the smallest budgets in the league, the Ipswich board will be backing Kieran McKenna for new signings.

The 26-year-old is the captain of the Scottish club and is currently in the United States where he's representing his country in the Copa America.

That's interesting to read. You don't really get too many Palhinha-esque players now, I don't think we need a like-for-like replacement - you need a midfield that can make clever forward passes without losing too much defensively

I think our only midfielder who's capable of regularly picking out a pass like that is Cairney... Palhinha loves a big diagonal, Lukic is a pro at passing it 15 yards sideways, and you never quite know what Reed's about to do

That's all meant we've become reliant on playing out through the full backs, and most teams we play just press Robinson and Castagne high up, so we get a bit stuck

I was thinking about summer signings and I would be happy with Trevor Chalobah, Andre, Kalvin Phillips (on loan), Emile Smith-Rowe, Silas and Teden Mengi.

I would rather have Morten Hjulmand than Phillips but its not realistic to sign both Andre and Hjulmand for big money in the same transfer period.

Honest question, but with Willian not having signed yet, do we run the risk of disrupting the dressing room too much with such a large influx of new players?

Also, I get why you think Palhinha may leave, but don't get where you're getting Pereira leaving from.. he's had very few rumours go around about him and no concrete interest, plus is less high profile. Palhinha has been in a transfer battle with Bayern for a year. Pereira seems more debased in terms of just thinking he'll go. Unless you've seen something I haven't.

With Tosin gone and Palhinha likely to go I would be surprised if the club sanctioned the sale of any of our other regular starting players. Particularly as at this time neither  Wilian or BDR have agreed new contracts.

Yeh I'm aware, but not every team has Palhinha or a Palhinha type player, as I say it is plausible that Marco may alter the system around the players he brings in.

Given Lukic and Reed did well in Palhinha absence There is a possibility Marco takes a different approach we don't really know.

Yeh I'm aware, but not every team has Palhinha or a Palhinha type player, as I say it is plausible that Marco may alter the system around the players he brings in.

I imagine it will also be a slight shift in system. Andre is more of a QB style player who can also get stuck in, so it will hopefully allow us to build more through Andre as that's not Palhinha's core strength, and then we'll put someone combative who can play a bit higher next to him. What it does mean is that you can look to replace Palhinha's defensive output over two players whilst having two better passers of the ball in there as well

If Andre is Marco's man - then we certainly will see a different approach to play to Andre's strengths.

Not as brutal as Palhinha, but better range of passing that Joao.

Going to miss Palhinha's defensive work-rate though and one man defending though.

We signed 7 players last summer and 11 the summer before, so I think it's reasonable to expect around 7-8 signings this summer without too much disruption.
