Yeh Id be game for bringing him back in this instance but he did always openly have his sights on ballon d'ors and the like, so would be dependent on his attitude and feeling about taking what im sure hed deem a "backwards step".

think lukic can do a job as MD ,not as good as palhinia but ok and the money from the sale invest in more quality
Around lukic plus 2 CBs we can get even stronger under Marco as long as he's backed by reinvestment.

Word from many was he'd been a bit crap but better last season in the champ and randomly his scoring and assisting stats were good last year.

Whoscored rating has him in 76th in the championship with a 6.82 rating for whatever that's worth.
Also - Missed over 50 games the last 3 seasons with injuries so there's that.

Is he a massive upgrade on Reed or Lukic enough to warrant paying what will probably be very high wages would be the question I guess, along with if he'd pass the medical.

I would back Silva to get him back to his best. When on form he's far superior to Reed or Lukic.

Lukic is decent but he's not the best tackler.

I don't understand what you mean at all here. Why would a transfer request save us any money?

because if we sell without one he's entitled to his loyalty bonuses and we are also terminating his contract as such so we have to negotiate how much of it we have to pay up, if he request one we don't have to. Bit like different between being made redundant or resigning

I don't think this is at all accurate. There may be certain bonuses that will have to be paid, but as for the remaining contract it is "terminated" by mutual consent and nothing needs to be paid (other than possibly the aforementioned bonuses, although as has been alluded to elsewhere that would likely normally cover the period he is with us, not future bonuses).

At least that is how I understand it, and what makes sense in my mind.

Mullers OG

Palhinha (9/7/95) will be 29 at the start of the season. He is at the peak of his career. At 29 any new club will have little or no prospect of any sell on price. He is a top class performer who deserves a chance to play at the highest level. He's been a wonderful player for us and we are being offered a substantial profit. Time to accept Bayern's offer and move on, thanking JP for his service.

Good.
Let's hope Everton have the willpower to set a high asking price.

We are not a charity, and we are also a club that has to comply with FFP and PSR rules so selling him for less than he's worth makes us weaker and poorer for no reason

Was my understanding also - remember most players receive a signing on bonus for joining a new club.
Can't see them getting a loyalty bonus from one club AND a singing on fee from another just doesn't make much sense.

Never had so many rumours in the early summer, when can we expect the first Fulham move, does window closing week remain favourite.

I take the point but in reality he's worth what clubs will pay and I don't see any other club competing for his services.

He is worth what clubs will pay, or alternatively he is worth what we are prepared to accept. If the latter is more than the former he will stay.

The signing bonus and loyalty bonus are essentially the same thing. It's a one sum agreed at the start of the contract that is paid out over the duration of the contract.

If the players contract is ended early by the club E.G they accept a transfer and sell the player. Then the club will owe the player the remainder of that sum.

If the player puts in a transfer request, they forgo that amount.

Fairly sure that's how it all works. A few players over the years have talked about how they wanted to go but didn't want to lose the potential loyalty/signing bonuses so have not put in formal transfer requests. The closest I can find in terms of information was this;

I may have got the wrong end of the stick about the point you were making jayffc and maybe this was all obvious. In which case apologies!

I wonder how many transfers Bayern make with a view to making any sort of real profit on them?

Surely there comes at point to teams at the very top of the food chain where you have to concede that there really aren't any (or many) bigger fish who can afford to take these players off you?

They picked up a 30-yo Harry Kane for near enough £100m last season. I can't imagine they'll be looking at much of a resale value there.

Just a thought..

Craven Mad

More than resale value, Bayern need to become a winning team again asap. Onana is not as good as Joao, even if he is  younger.

A lot of teams have now caught up to Bayern, and Bayern's squad is not looking as impressive as it once was. They need to strengthen, and they've lacked balance/metal in midfield.

I really think we hold the cards in this negotiation.

Saw some fulham account on twitter saying that due to PSP structure we're likely to see more actual movement from after 30th June or something and would be unlikely to sign before then? Make of that what you will could be nonsense

Interesting, first I'd heard of this being the case. I assumed the signing bonus was paid at the point of signing as a one-off thing and not that it was the same as a "loyalty" payment, who knows.

St Eve

My hope is JP stays and my guess is Willian and AP go. Should get at least 30 million for AP.
I would go for ESR from Arsenal hopefully around 25 million and the CB from Luton for around 10 million. Get Sess for nothing and Fab for about 15 million hopefully. That would be a good start. We will still need a winger and a striker of course.
