Only one Turkish source reported our alleged bid and outlets such as football 365 have turned it into some wider narrative I think

All of that is true, but he'd be the sort of signing that would push us to Europe, and at the price that is reportedly wanted by Juventus, we ought to try and sign him.

If by some miracle we sign him, I'd be extremely confident of getting Europe (assuming Andersen and Berge are done deals and there are no outgoing transfers).

The window shuts next week and nobody has gone for him yet so I would say he's not that unattainable at this point; his injury history and form probably puts a bigger club off signing him, but for us it's probably worth the risk at that price because if Marco gets him cooking then he's back in Italy contention and we've got an asset that skyrockets in value

So just by reading the posts on this forum it looks like Andersen and Berge will be done this week.

If so, then we'll have the rest of the window to find the right 'attacking' player. I also think it's worth noting that we haven't used the loan market as much as we used too. I wonder if we will get any last minute loan surprises.

Have to admit, I'm very relieved to see us filling out the squad now with perms and not using the loan system as much - building a solid, long-term squad that can compete and which is young and has space to grow with one another, and that can be topped up with quality and other permanent signings over the different windows, instead of constant wholesale changes.

Quite a relief.

Meaning if we signed Andersen, Andre and Berge, we'd have just 3 players over 30 and the rest of a 23 man squad under 28. Well between 23 and 28.. That's a good age range at this level, and good we have one or two experienced heads in the squad/team too. Leno is less of an issue to, at 32 and being a GK he's still relatively young.

We haven't signed him have we? I know i have been working but sure I haven't seen a bid accepted let alone started a medical or signed him. I only say this as others on the list are going through medicals etc

Re Berge - Worth remembering that he hasn't played for some time so wouldn't be considered ready for inclusion in a squad yet whatever fitness levels. Whereas Anderson has been playing and would certainly be able to walk into the squad for Saturday if required. Although I have a feeling he would be on the bench seeing as Diop was pretty much the stand out last week.

Benefit of having Andersen in for Leicester is that he's re-establishing a partnership on the right of defence potentially with Tete, so hopefully there's still some familiarity with one another, which could help him get going quicker.

He also knows Reed, Cairney and Robinson so a few familiar faces. 

I doubt Diop will be dropped straight away. But I think Andersen will be in the squad. We've probably got the best defence in terms of quality and depth that we've ever had in the PL era.

Conflicting reports on this - Dharmesh Sheth says Berge to be announced in next 24hrs and medical taking place today, whilst someone else said that we're hoping to sign Andersen by the deadline on Friday.

Don't think we'll see Cherki for a while.

Was reported by Romano and others that Berge was having his medical yesterday

Medicals can take place over more than one day so possible that Berge's still isn't complete

I think we're not really paying attention to the medical time of other clubs surely - and any perceived time being long is just anxiety of waiting for a signing to get across the line. Then a club spends time taking photos and preparing an announcement video too.

I don't know we're any slower than anyone else with the medical.
