His record in real life is superb as well, granted it's La Liga and the Ukranian league, he has 147 G/A from 219 apps at RW, and 19 G/A from 25 appearances at LW which is superb return. Whether he can do it in the PL is another question but he's great with both feet and very quick

It is a bit like Cherki is back up in my Fifa team (where it is now 2029). He plays a supporting role as CAM behind Musiala. Only Harris is in my squad from the current team.

Last time he said with certainty we were going to sign a player Berge popped up and it turned out we'd been working on it for weeks. So guaranteed, there is a forward who is nearly done, who hasn't been mentioned by anyone yet. Hopefully someone decent!

Alternatively, given that Fluminense were in the relegation places at the time and Andre's importance to the team, having returned from injury, it could be they were unwilling to drop their valuation. Fluminense may have taken the view that even if they have to sell Andre for £20M in the last week of the window, this is better, if he helps the team climb the table, than accepting anything much less than £30M in early July.

If our interest in Andre is at an end, my personal feeling is that the Club must think £25M for Berge represents a better purchase than whatever we would have had to pay to Fluminense.

In that scenario where Andre is our first choice and available for £20m in the last week of the window (ie from 23 August) I'm not sure it would make much sense to sign an alternative, Berge for £25m on 22 August!

Look, I said above, the Berge and Andersen signings have mitigated some of my concerns by showing the club is ambitious, prepared to spend money, and can get deals done outside the last few days of the window. I've some residual concerns that we seem to have no framework for scouting (ie, new player discovery) and the average age of our signings will require us to dig deep into our pockets again in a few years just to sustain the same quality level. But those are different discussions for a different day.

On Andre, I'm inclined to believe there was more to it than just a divergence in valuations. My only point is that I don't think this saga is compatible, unless we go back in for him next week, with the summer-long assertion that we're massively better off doing our business at the last minute.

You either genuinely have completely misunderstood the actual argument I was making all along, or are now deliberately misrepresenting it and presenting it in the most unnuanced and simplified manner possible to fit the narrative.

I wrote another full message responding the first time this was said, where you misrepresented a number of things and my main point and positions in your last reply...But having read all the subsequent messages and ratios... OK, not worth it, and no need to bore the people who've read it before. Deleted.

I tried multiple times to explain the actual position, think what you want at this point it's fine. If I spend another afternoon trying to explain the nuance of the position, it only falls on deaf ears or is relayed differently later and as someone else has commented before, the goalposts get moved and it eventually spills into receiving overly edgy digs or muddled exchanges that no doubt everyone's tired of.

Those I enjoy interacting with here, wether we disagree on things or not, seemingly understand the actual "summer long point"  it's not whats been relayed here. It's been explained. if you want to think it's something other than it was, be my guest.

p.s am at least glad you seem happy with the acquisitions we have made generally speaking. Hopefully with one more in the door up top hopefully we can just focus on what's been a positive window all in all

Fantastic news that Joachim is over the line another great signing IMO and another good looking window on paper. Lots of pundits talking about the great business we've done etc. Good to see.

The transfer team  continuing form and Marco working with them to get some exciting talent in at decent rates considering some of the awful deals this summer in the market.He's clearly happy with the acquisitions, great to see.
 Hoping for a great season following another seemingly very good window so far.

Looking forward to cheering this team on now and one more exciting attacking player to go hopefully.

After signing Sessegnon, Cuenca and Smith-Rowe, I said that the only two positions that we really had to get someone in were rcb and dm. We have finally got those two players in. While I know some (myself includeed) wanted different players in those positions, there's plenty to be positive about the two we have signed. If nothing else, they'll probably adapt quicker than pretty much any players we could have signed, especially Andersen(who in addition to knowing some players and staff, played with Tete at both Lyon and Fulham and they will be playing right next to each other at rb and rcb).

Now even if we don't sign anyone else, we have enough depth to have another solid season. If we manage to get an excellent attacker in, which is what Marco wants we may even get a better finish than we did two seasons ago.

Yeh highly doubt it.

May be on the bench and get some sub minutes at best but no need to rush it following Diops showing at Utd. Hopefully he can replicate more of the same knowing his position is under threat. Imagine he does a Muniz and becomes so unbeatable he Keeps Joachim out 😂

Berge was on the treatment table over the summer apparently so don't wanna rush him in. Get him up to speed and bring em in maybe for the cup game to get minutes or for some minutes vs Ipswich if they're ready by then. We should have enough quality in the squad already to beat those as it is if they show up on form (not guaranteed of course). So fingers crossed for tomorrow!

Indeed, it makes sense to think that either Marco prefers Berge to Andre or that Andre was not available for £25M or less earlier this week.

Fluminense selling him in the last week of the window could still mean they hold out until the 27th or 28th before accepting a low offer. Even if Andre were the Club's first choice, perhaps we felt we couldn't take the risk of letting Berge go elsewhere. Another club may come in for Andre. We can't be certain Fluminense will drop the price. There are things that can go wrong.

I take on board that you largely welcome the Berge and Andersen signings.
