Anderson seems to have gone quiet?

Expect it to be announced today I'd imagine. If we want him in the squad for Leicester, then he'll be announced this morning. If we're not rushing it, then by end of the day.

He was reported to be having a medical with us two days ago, so that would've ended latest yesterday, and I imagine contract would've been done and media duties yesterday too.

Think most are feeling confident this will get done, though not over till the fat lady sings. Andersen wants to come back and has played here before, which would suggest it'll happen.

I still really want to see Andre through the door - the more I read up about him statistically the better he seems and fits a need we have in our team... I appreciate chances are looking slim now and many are happy with Berge in, but still.

A front line option in, and maybe one surprise signing. We'll see.
As long as registered by midday he can play tomorrow, can be announced any time as long as that registration is done. I would take it being announce at 14:00 tomorrow as long as he is registered.

Looks like Andre is not happening from the few twitter feeds above, I guess if they are true the club moved on and got someone that Marco wanted or is ok with having. I am assuming the focus has moved on to a forward and maybe some other signings

Don't trust what I read on twitter re Andre, most of them don't seem to come from any reliable sources and most news cycles around anything transfer related with him always seem to say everything and nothing and have been false flags or rabbit holes.

I'm not saying that I think he's coming or not acknowledging that it looks slim he's coming now.. in fact I'd agree it looks like he isn't... but until the window shuts, or he signs for someone else, I'm going to keep a window of hope open.

I think financially the club could make it happen given the money spent so far, and even with andersen on the low end, we've only just tipped over the £100m mark, which was rumoured to be what we had (think £120m) prior to selling palhinha.. so to some extent you could add an extra £30-50m onto our budget that's available to be spent.

Not saying spending everything you've got is sensible/necessary or right.. but the money may be there.

If Fluminense have promised andré he can go, and are in financial trouble and do need to sell and fulhams tactic for the signing was to wait until late in the window for that price to come down, then it is a deal that could still be in play.

I know that's largely unrealistic, but still.

Quite possibly, I would rather us get some attacking re enforcements in, not convinced Muniz is going to shine as after end of March he dropped off almost to the level he had before mid Feb. So for me we need some strength at the top and maybe wide forward areas. Hopefully Muniz and Raul start to fire though and we can save money in those areas.

I'm not saying that Andre will happen whatsoever, but the other two clubs credited with an interest are Wolves (who it's been announced only have a £20m budget for the rest of the window) and Man Utd who are trying to sign Ugarte as a primary target with Andre a rumoured backup. We've got ourselves into a strong position where we don't need Andre and he would be a nice to have, and Flu have snookered themselves and admitted he needs to be sold by next week. It could be a late next week signing as the asking price drops further, as I'm fairly sure we have the budget for him and are now in a better position to have a game of chicken with them

Fly ,if anybody club wise is interested have played to much hardball on one hand,on the flip side it seems in there case one player can drag them up and is really a VIP for them so I understand the reasons why.think Fulham wise a smoke screen the same as Mctominay to get Berge as Berge said in interview this has taken 3 or 4 weeks his transfer.

One is a Fulham post, the other is Fabrizio Romano post. Romano tends to get a lot of likes on his posts, because more people follow Romano than they do Fulham (less than 800k followers for Fulham and more than 21 million followers for Romano). You should have found Fulham's post about Andersen or Romano's post about Mitro.

Wolves interested in Andre but price way off as it was with us seemingly

Utd interested in case ugarte fails.

Will be somewhat humurous if after all this he goes for way cheaper come the end of the window...And we'll have actually done the thing people want of making a firm high offer early (that no ones matched to date) telling them like it or leave it, not capitulating 10m over what we think is fair...moving on and eventually sealing another target only 1 game into the season having been in talks for the last month...
Only for andres price to drop in last week of the window when we in past may have waited to see what deals we can get then... which usally infuriates people as a strategy 😂

Wouldnt that be sods law! We'd all have to see the funny side if so.

Anyway, focus back on Berge and rooting for him now. Love his enthusiasm for the club and nice to have a strong scandi duo in town. Cant wait for Ipswich away to hopefully see em get sone minutes as cant make Leicester. Up the Fulham!

What about Reed to Wolves for 10-15m and Andre to Fulham for around 25?

You would imagine Wolves May go for either if they sell Joao Gomes? That would of course give them funds as well. We stole Joao off them and look how that worked out. Hope it isn't a role reversal. If he turns out to be amazing it is going to be very painful.

As I mentioned earlier, Wolves only offered £4m last summer and he's played even less football this year. In addition they've signed other centre mids since.

Oh, that's not the point I was making... The Andersen post was just acknowledging the deal when it all started, from a rumour and him coming from OL on loan to the full circle moment of the fans love in and him coming back...

The second is just interesting that on the Fulham official twitter account, when Mitro was initially announced it was met with a bit of a damp squib, and not many fans engaged with it.. I suppose interesting for the full circle moment too, and acknowledging how that turned out in the end too.

Nothing to do with comparing the likes for both.

Of English clubs, I think Reed is probably most valuable to Southampton or perhaps Everton. Others seem quite well stocked in that position. Not a huge market for him if he does want to go somewhere for a new challenge (he might not). Otherwise Celtic (perhaps? if they're selling O'Riley?) or Rangers (probably can't afford). He'd be a perfect pick up for a Saudi club tbh, but lacks massive star quality and burns in the sun.

Good player and had a good season last year - plays predominantly RW but also plays LW and as an attacking midfielder

Then why mention number of likes? Fulham has since grown in a number of followers and all posts get more likes than they used to. A fair comparison would be between Mitro and Matt Targett for example, since they both came in the same window. As for negative comments, I seem to remember a lot of fans being quite positive about the signing, while there were a few more skeptical people. But again, not sure this is a good example.

Quote from: Roberty on August 23, 2024, 04:37:00 AMThis is a pigs might fly narrative.

You're "pretty" sure that fees can be negotiated down before August, without any evidence.

Well some evidence might be, er, that we were very consistently and widely reported to be demanding £60m for Palhinha in mid-June this year, then agreed a sale at £47m (£43m if you use Jay's method and discount add-ons) in early July.

I mean, are you actually disputing the concept that transfer fee amounts can be negotiated throughout the window, and not just in the last few days?
Nope
They are always, willing seller and willing buyer. When there is an agreement on terms and conditions a deal can be done.
You suggested that the club was commercially incompetant for not bridging a £10m gap - (with a big IF) MS wanted him.
Unlike us with JP they were seemingly intransigent and there it ended.
MS might have wanted him, but I"m sure it was not at any price. He's experienced enough to know that if the club overspend on a player he will have to give something up.
It could be better, but it's not a fantasy:

I wonder if we pulled the plug on Andre because we couldn't get him for preseason. It would of taken the team in a different direction but maybe Marco thought it wouldnt be good to do during the season ??

Given their financial situation and that their chairman publicly acknowledged they were negotiating his sale, it's highly unlikely Fluminense would be "intransigent". And this is something you're claiming, as you'd put it, "without any evidence".

Anyway... FWIW I'm happy with Berge. I suspect the media coverage of the Andre transfer represents a massive oversimplification of the issues and it wasn't purely about a £5-10m gap in valuation. And who knows, we may revisit the transfer in the next 8 days anyway.
The fact that a deal was not done would suggest intransigence but it could also be - never give a sucker an even break. Were not responsible for their financial plight and it would be negligence not to take advantage of it.
Andre could be TK's rabbit out of the hat on deadline day!
It could be better, but it's not a fantasy:

I reckon we may end up with Solomon back as that's the only position left out of the 3 that MS was talking about needing filling. Solomon's turned down Getafe, wants to stay in England and is surplus to requirements at Spuds.
I can just see it now

Yea completely agree. He had flashes of brilliance but it just fizzled out. Think he's one of those players that can get worked out by opposing players very quickly.

I can see Solomon winding Marco up when he was here, also he was never properly fit.
