Summer Silly Season Transfer Thread 2024

Luka

Tonight highlighted beyond any doubt our need for a striker.
Raul was very, very poor and Muniz is not going to be able to run the line all season on his own.
It's got to be a priority in my opinion.

Remember you are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.
I will be as good as I can be and when I cross the finishing line I will see what it got me

Would be more than happy with reiss nelson

No complaints being Arsenal lite and another one with something to prove whod play at other clubs that didn't have the insane talent and competition for places they have

Agree with this, bigger priority than left wing as ESR can play there. Hopefully we can move on Raul. That being said we do need another out and out lw.

At some point we'll need to improve upon Wilson and Reed but that can wait for another window.

demeant0r

Not sure we need Reiss Nelson, we already have ample right wingers in Traore, Wilson and Iwobi and Stansfield who can both play there (and Iwobi is supposed to be a better RW than LW).

Hes played RW 78
LW 54 times

Similar stats on both wings
CAM 25 times

Hes right footed but marco likes and inverted winger so I think hes a great option for someone capable of playing "across the forward line"

I just read this on skysports website:

'Fulham boss Marco Silva:

"I'm almost 100 per cent sure that he [Stansfield] is going to be our player but I cannot guarantee that because it's difficult to control the market'.

Interesting comments, we have Jay on a long term deal so we are under no pressure to sell, unless Jay wants out that is. I would expect we keep him and he challenges for a starting place.

How exactly was Raul "very, very" poor? He made 1 bad touch in the first 30 minutes, which was a tough volley shot in the box that he whiffed. His one "bad" pass came from trying to send a chipped through ball into Wilson's path across their keeper.

55th minute gets absolutely blindsided in the head. Shakes it off, and continues playing. Shortly after receives a square pass which he pushes the ball past first defender with ease, but touch is too heavy as the second defender mops up. Comes back the other end to defend a corner and wins yet another header defensively.

71st minute - Cuenca clears the ball in our box to Raul, who has to deal with immediate pressure and balance on the sidelines and play a perfect pass backwards into TC's stride, eventually Wilson gets fouled in the center of the pitch.

His second bad pass of the night is in the 88th minute where he overcooks a side-footed volley intended for Lukic. The second time he's dispossessed is shortly after trying to drive through towards the corner flag but well tackled by Roberts.

Last contribution was a tough first touch into pressure, and managed to somehow contort his body to send a switch across the line to find Castagne - that was well approved by Cuenca. It led to King's disallowed goal eventually.

That doesn't sound very bad at all to me. A quality penalty to boot.

I agree we do need another striker - but for the sake of depth to challenge both Raul and Muniz. At the moment, in terms of goal scored, it's Raul in the lead. Hopefully Muniz can get off the mark because what he's done other than score has been remarkable and well worth the starting spot. I just don't want them to be too comfortable with just competing against one another.

If we have a chance to grab a quality striker on deadline day, we should 100% go for it. For depth, not because the other options are poor.

Tabby

The issue with Raul was less what he did as much as that what he didn't do. He was pretty ineffectual against League 1 opposition.

But most of the team seemed pretty off pace.

Fulham rejected a €25 million offer from Olympique de Marseille for Andreas Pereira. The French club hinted at the possibility of paying in cash, but the English club still refused.

An English club was willing to pay 40 million euros in 5-year installments, but Fulham said they were not interested in that form of payment. @GoalBR

If this is true, then I think those figures are getting closer to the "too good to ignore" bracket.

If we get a better payment structure for that €40 mill fee then I think it's great business.

The problem at this stage is sourcing a replacement in the time we have left.

General

2 days and 14 hours until the window closes, this should be interesting... All seems very quiet in the window, not just for us. Imagine it'll be a deadline deal.

I imagine if we can't get any of our preferred targets in, then we will get a loan or two in and then go again in January or next summer.

Was at the game and What I found interesting was his body language when getting subbed last night

The crowd had been handing out alot of chants all game giving stick to brum fans about him...

Jay stansfield...
"hes one of our own"
"hell never be yours"
"he left cos your s***"

He seemed when getting subbed to then applaud the whole ground but specifically didnt turn to applaud the fulham section.

Now, could be nothing and reading too much into it, but body language can tell a story sometimes, and at the time found it an interesting choice.

I found his press conference interesting in that regard as well. Seemed to talk alot about the nurturing atmosphere at Birmingham and talked a lot about his outside of Fulham experiences whilst also seeming sombre about it all. Might be nothing like you say but did find it strange. Or maybe hes just young and not used to being interviewed.

Hes certianly not the most confident speaker but he became a hero at brum and it does feel like he loved his time there being a star and a starter. Must be tough coming from that back to 2mins in the prem.

I wonder if we find another top attacking option if wed sanction a move for him on his request. He wants to play football at this age and you cant blame him.

Id play him over raul off the bench for a few games and see how he gets on

Looking at the Blues last night Jay is just the player they Require to go up comfortably I Wonder if they will  come back to us?

Bassey the warrior

Will be interesting to see what role Stansfield is given if he stays. He doesn't seem to have the physique for a lone striker, can't see him winning many headers or holding off defenders. He doesn't seem a natural winger as he lacks a bit of flair.

That being said, he clearly has good movement and composed finishing and works hard to win the ball back. Seems a natural replacement for Decordova-Reid, could be a big asset off the bench. I hope we keep him.

I'm gonna stick my neck out and say he's not going to League 1.

12 million with 30% transfer add on and it's a deal that's for Stansfield . I wouldn't go anywhere near Nelson for 20 million arsenal are taking the total pi$$ with that fee. He is 24 years old and has played around 6 full games in two seasons. 20 million 😂😂
