Quote from: Deeping_white on August 27, 2024, 11:17:19 AMForest have bid £20m for Wissa at Brenford. It's highly unlikely they'd do a deal with us but that's not bad value for money as he's consistently been one of their best forwards and has been good at PL level. Issue would be resale value as he's 27 but would get a few decent seasons out of him

Surely won't get him if Toney is leaving. I know everyone's trying their arm to get 27/28 year olds at that price range (as we did with Andersen), but I can't see Brentford selling unless they want to go down.

That said, I can imagine a bunch of surprising clubs sticking in bids for Toney this week, given his contract situation etc. E.g. is there a deal to be done where you pay £30m for him (as opposed to him leaving for free next year), but including a release clause for named clubs at a specific price?

He might go somewhere for a year, score 20 then get that final move next summer.

I think we should try it. He's exactly what we need.

The issue with Toney he wants silly money per week, might have a few debts to pay off, so think Saudi is his only option.
Is that debts or bets?
I'm not sure he'll be able to bet at so in Saudi so not sure why he'd want to go there 🤷

My cousin is a Brentford fan for his sins and tells me they're desperately trying to offload him. Wouldn't be surprised if Chelsea add him to their list.
I think the Chelsea blueprint (excuse pun) has changed where wages are concerned and the fee Brentford are looking at let alone the wages Toney has been offered from Saudi Arabia might be to rich for Chelsea currently? If Brentford are go to maximise the transfer don't see Chelsea obliging unless there is a come down from both player and selling team.

Tammy Abrahams anyone?

Roma need to move him
Roma are hoping to receive offers for Tammy Abraham after making him available for transfer this summer, with a return to the Premier League looking most likely.

The 26-year-old has been with Roma since making the move from Chelsea in 2021, but after a brilliant start things have gone downhill.

The England international had an impressive first season, scoring 17 goals in Serie A and 27 in all competitions as Roma won the UEFA Conference League under Jose Mourinho.

The following season was much less productive, with just nine goals scored in 54 appearances and this season has been ruined by an ACL injury restricting Abraham to just 10 outings, with one goal to show for his efforts.

With Mourinho dismissed midway through the season and club legend Daniele De Rossi taking over, Roma finished sixth in Serie A and are looking to make changes over the summer to improve on that in the next campaign.

Sky Sport Italia reports, via Football Italia, that Abraham is going to be a victim of those changes, with Roma putting him on the market this summer.

The Italian side paid £34m for the striker in 2021 and will be hoping to get somewhere in that region for him in the transfer window, despite his injury problems.
Remember you are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.
I will be as good as I can be and when I cross the finishing line I will see what it got me

Going to be interesting down at Brentford. The only major sale they have made in about 4 years is Raya for £30-33m They have spent a fortune this season. Don't forget that their new striker for £33m is injured. They are desperate to sell toney to the Saudis to recoup some money. Going to be interesting if toney decides to stay in Europe, if so he could say to Brentford let me go for a reasonable price or I will sit on the bench for the season and go for free next season and you will be in real trouble. That is why I think wissa could go, depends on the toney deal. Hopefully toney stays in Europe they get peanuts for him and wissa goes to compensate. Probably why they want this Brazilian winger they are linked with.

Quote from: Angus Telford on August 27, 2024, 04:44:37 PMI reckon in our business so far in this window we've acted quite decisively to bring in specific players identified by Marco or scouting. With only four days to go, it follows that we're almost certainly already deep into negotiations for the forward he's mentioned. Funny how this one has stayed under the radar, with only a few vague/weak links reported in the press to my knowledge.

It is quite impressive that we manage to keep things under wraps for the most part, I.E. Berge being in talks for several weeks and it only gets out the evening he travels down to London for a medical. As good as Cherki is, he's also renowned for being a bit of a ******** at times which doesn't seem like a Silva signing in a way, so part of me thinks the bid for him is a bit of a smokescreen at this stage for someone else (maybe like the McTominay saga for Berge?) and if it works out then we've landed a bit of a mercurial winger

hovewhite

A red herring Cherki I think and think someone will come in that we don't see coming.

Maybe a Bid for Calvert Lewin will come in with Marco knowing him well.

Quote from: Angus Telford on August 27, 2024, 04:58:14 PMYes admittedly the Cherki links have been quite consistent/substantial, but like you, I don't feel the personality type fits our track record, plus the player is apparently not keen, so it feels like something we would have moved on from or even just papertalk.

I can't shift the fact Steven Bergwijn was pictured, on social media, with fans, and no ones at least rumoured reported it.....The tin foil hat in me says the complete lack of noise points directly to him.....

Edit: Although saying that, it could be because hes been linked with Leicester which would make more sense.....

He's also a LW so it just seems too perfect, but you never know! He knows Tete and Bassey anyway so that would probably make it easy enough to convince him of joining if it came down to it

I had a look through Dutch online media today and nothing there either linking him to us, maybe he was just popping over to see Tete and or Bassey

Surprised how everything seems quiet as we should be bringing someone in.

Fulham rejected a €25 million offer from Olympique de Marseille for Andreas Pereira. The French club hinted at the possibility of paying in cash, but the English club still refused.

An English club was willing to pay 40 million euros in 5-year installments, but Fulham said they were not interested in that form of payment. @GoalBR

I'm not sure how no noise denotes anything necessarily. Thing is its so uncommon for a player to be spotted at the ground and then sign without any reports about signing. As with Gnonto being at Fulham last year. I kinda feel if we wanted to sign him they'd be more secret unless it was almost over the line.

He does fit the profile we need though. Only three days of window left - thank god

No noise as we've been really, really decent with keeping deals quiet till they're done for the most part. Pure speculation on my part. Just feels strange to me that a player was at our ground and not even a tin pot site has speculated that we might sign him. Just seems strange to me.

Matt O'Riley limping off after a crazy challenge tonight for Brighton. Awful start to his career after a shocking challenge to be honest.

Deeping_white

After tonight I'd try and flog Reed and Wilson if possible. Maybe whip up interest in Reed from Wolves again based on their previous interest, or be cheeky and offer £5m + Reed for Harmer and £5m + Wilson for Gnonto or see if there are any other domestic suitors for both. Wilson flatters to deceive far too often and is more interested in diving, and Reed is just too exposed in our new system because he's just not got the technical skills to succeed in this team anymore
