Quote from: Deeping_white on August 27, 2024, 11:17:19 AMForest have bid £20m for Wissa at Brenford. It's highly unlikely they'd do a deal with us but that's not bad value for money as he's consistently been one of their best forwards and has been good at PL level. Issue would be resale value as he's 27 but would get a few decent seasons out of him

Surely won't get him if Toney is leaving. I know everyone's trying their arm to get 27/28 year olds at that price range (as we did with Andersen), but I can't see Brentford selling unless they want to go down.

That said, I can imagine a bunch of surprising clubs sticking in bids for Toney this week, given his contract situation etc. E.g. is there a deal to be done where you pay £30m for him (as opposed to him leaving for free next year), but including a release clause for named clubs at a specific price?

He might go somewhere for a year, score 20 then get that final move next summer.

I think we should try it. He's exactly what we need.

The problem is that Toney is holding out for a BIG contract. He has been on £20k per week for his entire time at Brentford and is aiming to raise that by an order of magnitude.

A mid table or lower club can't really afford that on top of a big transfer fee. As it stands now the only clubs that seem interested and have that kind of financial muscle are in Saudi Arabia. Think Toney stays the season and leaves on a free next year, especially since their replacement is out until winter.

Quote from: sarnian on August 27, 2024, 08:35:18 AMI have only quoted what I was told on good authority three transfer windows ago that we had no interest in Andre and the story going round was a wanabee journalist trying to get himself noticed.

And don't we know it? Every time Andre's name is mentioned, sure as night follows day, you're there to tell us. Had I paired any other player with Berge to replace Pereira, you wouldn't have bothered to reply.

Last word on the subject as you obviously believe everything you read as gospel but who has confirmed anything spoken by their president is actually true. You obviously don't believe a word Silva said on the matter of journalistic non existent stories yesterday.

Look forward to reading your Andre posts again in January.

What exactly did Silva say on Andre, can you quote it please?

Excluding targets that are highly unlikely to happen because of profile and wages - I'm considering Sterling, Sancho, Chiesa, Coman all in that bracket. What winger target would people like?

I'd love Richarlison if there was any chance, or I'm warming to the idea of Bergwijn.

What Sarnian has failed to include as part of that quote is that the sentence before he said that he wasn't going to talk about players that didn't play for the club as he normally does, so even though he was asked about Andre he replied with his stock answer

I didn't realise it he was on that 'little' money. Seems like something he really should have sorted a while ago. I imagine Brentford's demands will drop a bit as the deadline approaches (and even more in January I guess), but yes, £200k+ a week is just too much.

They must have found a spare hotel amongst their spare change which requires transferring to another 'entity.'

Think Somerset mentioned who he could possible go to and I mentioned Chelsea....Feel like they've likely been snubbed by Osimhen and Toneys the alternative.......

Correct he was asked about Andre and gave his stock answer about not talking about players from other clubs but this is the first time I have seen him mention the press and fabricated stories and follow ups. 2 + 2 = ?

There's a fan who's becoming a journalist and in fairness, is going about it the right way, and he's wanting to be a specialist on Fulham, he attends the press conferences, records it, goes to matches and tries to speak to players, went to the preseason tour etc and creates videos of it all, so he's going about it in the right way..

But he needs to ask open ended questions that give him better information.

Asking specifically about a player like Andre and whether or not we're signing him is a direct and easy answer for Marco - "I don't talk about other clubs players" - it was a slightly naive question to ask.

Instead he should've asked something along the lines of:

'You have mentioned a desire to get in a player for the front line, will that be the only position you're looking to fill between now and the end of the window, or are there other positions you'd like to strengthen if the right player comes up?'

And he could add context, saying we've been linked with more central midfielders..

It gives Marco scope to give a broader answer and more detail, without giving names, something he won't do.

The issue with Toney he wants silly money per week, might have a few debts to pay off, so think Saudi is his only option.
Is that debts or bets?

I'm not sure he'll be able to bet at so in Saudi so not sure why he'd want to go there 🤷

Quote from: ffc73 on August 27, 2024, 07:41:02 AMI don't think so. Iwobi is not the answer to LW & I hope we are looking for a starter to replace Willian out there.

Iwobi is more likely to start RW with Traore dropping back to being an impact sub.
I think Willian is a big miss especially Home games against lower half Teams. We Miss that sparkle of Gold Dust.

My cousin is a Brentford fan for his sins and tells me they're desperately trying to offload him. Wouldn't be surprised if Chelsea add him to their list.
