Taking last summer's business as a sample, ESR deal was publicly known about a month before it happened, Andersen was known about two weeks before.

Berge / Cuenca / Sessegnon didn't break until 2-3 days from formal confirmation, although technically General is right that they were leaked first on unofficial channels.

Then you have the ones we can't confirm like Andre

I'm leaning towards General's take on this

Shows how highly Thomas Frank regarded J.P when he was playing for us.
Gutted he's gone there 🤢

I hear you brother

100% with you on the Spurs subject! Opinion on Palhinha will always be tainted now if he goes there.
So I'm led to believe he had zero interest in coming back to Fulham, apparently still holds a bit of a grudge for not allowing him to join BM the first time.

I'm sorry but that's pure fantasy island stuff, you've never met him in your life and nobody you know has ever met him in their life,
Pure Fantasy.
Are you sure about that ?
Story of my life
"I was looking back to see if she was looking back to see if i was looking back at her"
Sadly she wasn't

Interesting if true; I think we handled it poorly. Should have just rejected it; can't lose key man on last day with no time to plan for replacing him (especially having lost Mitro). Going there, posing in the shirt and everything and having to return must have been a sickener.

I'm not that upset he's joining Spurs, and I don't think it's fair to say it taints things with him; it's a business and players have careers to think about - rather than some myopic loyalty to just one club.

Tosin running down his contract and joining Chelsea, or with Fabio and Liverpool I consider a different thing altogether though.

Wonder how Joao will perform, sounds like he had a rough time in Munich.

Palhinha will always be at his best playing for a struggling team, where he can play the role of a DM destroyer. Of course, Spurs won't be anywhere near as dominant as BM were last season, but if Palhinha wanted to really shine on the pitch, he should have come to a club like Fulham. I guess it was a matter of money and CL.

However, as much as I would have loved to see Palhinha back at Fulham, I can't help feeling a bit relieved that it didn't happen. As it stands, we've got more important holes to fill in our squad. Maybe this isn't such bad news at all. More money to spend elsewhere, and we won't have to worry about his unavoidable suspensions and tackles that are (let's be honest) only marginally away from a red card.

Quote from: Caedal on July 31, 2025, 10:04:25 PMOk I'm usually very patient, but this is just ridiculous now. I understand the market is difficult, but it isn't this difficult.

I know TK has this AEW lawsuit going on, maybe he's too distracted with that.

The squad is still too old. We have multiple positions that need upgrading.

Agreed.

It's getting beyond a joke.

So frustrating watch other clubs do business whilst we've signed a backup GK

Newcastle have just rejected £100m for Isak from Liverpool. Would not be surprised if a scenario happens where he goes, Sesko goes to Man United, and they end up putting in a panic bid for Muniz. I think we can scam them out of £50m+ if it comes to that (noting Flamengo have a big sell on clause).

I don't think we will ever see the days of the club being the first to confirm a signing again. Media will always get word once a deal has been agreed to and even if they don't, once they show up at Motspur for a medical someone like FFN has enough connections to break that. I consider anything not reported on before the deal is agreed, i.e. "Here we go" to have not been reported on by the press like Cuenca was.

I'm not shooting the messenger here - but this isn't even a rumoured interest. Just some obscure website deciding that named player will be a good fit for Fulham!

I guess that shows what crumbs we have to feed on at the moment.

Fair points. Still seems like only the small deals (<£5m) are going "under the radar". Berge is an exception, but ESR, Anderson and Andre if we assume it happened, were all leaked at early/bid stage.

Super Mick

Surely if we were that desperate for Nelson they'd have sorted it out before Portugal.

Bassey the warrior

Best of luck to Joao who always put in 100% with us.

I can actually see him doing well at Spurs, who will be a very different side to last season.

They were crying out for a def mid as their midfield was very porous.

apparently bayern have inserted a £27m buy option after the loan, a £20m hit on the apparent £47m they paid us, an accepted loss over just two seasons, where he'll have played for them 13? times?

Sgt Fulham

Palhinha is a very astute signing for Spurs. Under Frank I think they will be a hell of a lot better and comfortably top half team.

As for us, I'll come back in another 2 weeks..

AnotherVicHalomLoveChild

Remember we pocketed £25m for Sess.
5 years late got him back for nothing
Got him fit, Marco got his mojo back & he is now a vital part of our team.
Who is to say he hasn't had a word in the ear of our young academy players who have signed up.
Grass not always greener - ask Joao!
Who knows whether it will work out for him?
What we need now is some bl##dy signings!!

ffc_forever

I cant believe League One starts tonight already (Delano McCoy-Splatt Wimbledon debut maybe?)

I've been fairly relaxed about signings but now the leagues are getting going again its making me want a few in sooner rather than later.

Championship next weekend then us week after...

legana

The Palhinha to Spurs deal (assuming it is done) has really irked me. They were so very poor last year and got so, so lucky in qualifying for the CL (especially when you look at all the top clubs we faced just to get to the EL final). Think they will be much better this year sadly, which makes last season seem like an opportunity missed.

If we are going to break our mid table ceiling and upset the big boys, I hope we can bring in some exciting and effective new signings. However, the names linked currently feel rather uninspiring and short term. I don't mind waiting to the end of the window to get a good deal but it has to be worth it by bringing in players that will be able to make a real difference in games, turning potential losses into draws and draws into wins. I should probably get over it but Palhinha was that kind of player worth several more points a season.

I'm glad we haven't lost anyone (as at the current time) but let's hope any new signings that do eventually come aren't just here to match what we already have but to actually improve us, which we should be looking to achieve every window

These prices are going into stratosphere.  Just saw Palace program for Eze to Arsenal.  Palace takes 30M up front, with balance paid to Palace over time in installments.
Total price 68M
