We need to just f****** get on with it now. Pissing around haggling about loan fee structure for chukuweze and 3 mil here or there for Kevin is becoming a bit pathetic.

I don't think any of us fans are justified in being pissed off until the window closes. They're just doing their job in trying to negotiate the best price. It's not our money.

Looks like a one week old interview...
However the sentiment remains the same... if he was frustrated then, he must be getting a bit annoyed now...
COYW
It's the pre match interview from tomorrow's game...
Then why did he say there are 10 days left in the transfer window??
.. unless I miss heard.. but the advert was for the United game?
I am referring to the video at the foot of the article.. and interview with Marco Silva...

It is our money, we pay some of the highest ticket prices in the league, we deserve to see some action. We are pretty much the only club that always leaves it to the last minute, think that's pretty telling.

FFC007

If nothing happens before Monday and Amorim gets the chop at Old Trafford, I can see Silva jumping ship and going there.

The Khans need to get this shambles sorted out fast, too much faffing around.

The clubs we want the players from could easily jack up the asking price and kill any moves stone dead.

By which time, Fulham will have to go into the damaged goods section and try and get someone in.

I can see that happening with or without any transfer activity

There is no way United would want Silva. .. I love the fella, but there is no way United would take him... they want high profile European big names... United fans would have an absolute meltdown... please be serious... :slap:  :slap:

Let's be absolutely straight - it is definitely the Khans's money and business for them to spend as they choose. The fact that their strategy is wedded to the dogma that " late is best" is entirely of their choosing and totally within their rights.
Whether it is the right strategy is the question in my book I would at least give the manager( the one with some actual football knowledge - and whose livelihood depends upon his decisions  - a bit more headroom ) and at least serve up say 2 out of the 4 targets based on his priorities. The others would then be left to the last minute bargain basement scramble
If the prices have gone crazy then there has to be a realisation that this is the current cost of business and if you can't stand the heat get out of the fire. They should very much recognise this as this has been their strategy for the Riverside - if you can't afford the new high prices - move on .

Marco is starting to remind me more and more of my ex-girlfriend, making comments such as, "we have a plan" (referring to a three-week vacation in Dubai), "we waited too long" (due to my job and hesitance to invest on a lavish trip), and "we are already late" (she moved on to a man who could provide it).

Sorry but you don't know what's happening at the club so have a beer and let them get on with it until the window shuts

Quote from: SuffolkWhite on August 29, 2025, 07:44:23 AMIs it time to panic! Maybe the scouting team can pull several rabbits 🧙♂️🐇🐇🐇🐇

Sounds like chuk is all but signed at this poiint, expecting movement after their game tonight. So maybe he's first in the door tomorrow.

Either way, what will be will be. Plenty times we've made multiple signings in last few days. This one will have to be no different

But this isn't "no different". In past seasons we have made some last minute signings but have already got a few through the door (lateish perhaps but not last minute). This time we haven't signed one single outfield player, so all our signings will be last minute. That is definitely different.
Not saying we might not come up trumps but I cannot recall ever seeing such brinkmanship from our club before.

Why did you "" quote something I didn't say? I didn't say it was "no different?"

I've made this point before recently, this season has transpired absolutely as later business than usual. But it's also the best squad we've gone into the summer with so assume that's their rationale here (wether id prefer it ideally earlier or not). Don't think we've ever had a settled squad this good without any major outgoings in recent history. Our team is already proving its competitive in the first 3 games.

My point was purely that we have made significant numbers of signings before late in the window (wether there's usuallly been more before them or not). We don't need a ton of signings we just need quality additions.

Chuk (seems basically done)
Kevin/sterling/nelson (we've had plenty enough conversations it seems prior to complete one of these)
A CM
+ Maybe a striking option (although sterling has played plenty of football at CF so it may be if we opt for him that's seen as covering us in two spots.

You said, "This one will have to be no different". I did not misquote you as far as I can see.
As further explained in last message:
I wasn't refering to the window as a whole...was a specific point of having shown ability to sign several players in the last part of the window. We will have to do that here

Jay, I had no intention of falling out with you or annoying you or Tabby. I genuinely read your post as saying that this window was no different to past windows and just wanted to point out that this isn't the case. Sorry if I misread or misinterpreted the post and I hope no offence is taken.

You say that mate, and as always I agree with your post substantially entirely, but per the latest accounts the club makes an profit of about £20m per year before you take transfer fees into account (revenue £182m, staff £155m). Now I accept some of that may still be absorbing the continuing amortisation of fees we paid 3-5 years ago, but at current levels of net transfer spend (2023: £17m, 2024: £20m, 2025: £0?) we're at, or nearly at, the point where you can say it's just the club's (our) money they're spending now.

And that's without getting into how much better the club's own books might be if we'd invested in younger, lower paid players, etc.

"Popping" will be getting his Casio calculator out to prove you wrong Angus. I'm' no accountant Angus just a humble ex President / CEO .I am sure you are right -  My point at base level was , as supporters,  we don't have any power or say .
As supporters though we have greater longevity on our side compared to to that of the owners.

Any bets that this thread will reach 400 before the next signing?

Andrew

It is their money and they can choose to spend it as they wish. I have no problem with that at all.

But there is always a BUT

And this is it. It's my club because I have supported for so many seasons (more than most). What I think is the owner should be honest with us and rather than talk about their ambition for the club, explain to us exactly what that looks like. They take our money and have a glossy venere at season ticket renewal time, they send a questionnaire asking how to improve the atmosphere (and by the way I know the answer to that and it is a) turn down the pa so we can talk to each other and create an atmosphere before the game without being drowned out and b) improve the squad letting us be more competitive).

They have ramped up the prices in recent years and I would have hoped we would have seen some proper action by now bringing players in. I am not optimisistic for the next few days of the window, thyey play Russian roulette by woiting so long. I feel sure Marco feels let down and will not re-sign his contract, he is ambitious.
